Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

To add on to this, I've had eggs hatch while in the car as a passenger. Again, however, there is a speed limit. They all hatched while in traffic or going through neighborhoods. Normally cars won't count for distance.

yeah theres definitely a speed limit, I was driving around a neighborhood yesterday going slow so i could see where the stops were and gained a lot of egg movement. Seems like 35 or under it counts as movement?

What a fun couple of hours.

Went to the local forest and decided I'd do a couple of km circuit. But when I was in there, was a total disappointment. I thought the place would be crawling with bug Pokémon, but the "Nearby" window was entirely empty save for a single Drowsee which I found and caught. Nothing else popped up for the entire trip, but at least there were some Pokéspots.

There was also a gym, which I challenged twice, and was hit with the 1hp bug both times.

On the way home I grabbed some drive-thru and checked my phone. Squirtle was there! Caught him, then.. nothing. The game stopped. Closed the app, then couldn't log back in, and haven't been able to log back in since.

Kinda losing faith in the whole thing at this point, frankly.

This is very dangerous.
You have to interact with the game when you find a Pokemon or pokestop,so you have to slow down, and it may cause accidents if you are not careful, make your partner help you in car.
I've tried in an empty mall where there are very big area to drive your car.
also, eggs won't hatch if you drive a car.
Your steps should count if you're stuck in traffic and driving slowly no? You're not always going to be driving at above 20mph

I wouldn't bet more than 20 mph/32 km/h

Says the servers are down for me but some people at the park I'm at are all going to catch a nearby squirtle and are still able to play. ;w;

I don't particularly care about this, but I'm definitely gonna try it as soon as it's available here. In any case, it sure is quite funny watching people being hyped on Twitter and, well, pretty much everywhere else.

Don't play while driving for your safety and safety of others.
Why am I replying to a tweet picture ? XD

So it's still raining / misting around by me but it's not stopping people poke hunting. I ran into a few groups of fellow team instinct players. They all mostly looked like teenagers or maybe early college age. It was funny when someone said to me "Oh shit your Iceman829". I seem to be the highest level instinct player in the area so it's up to me to muscle most of the gym leaders out.

I also noticed some guy who was walking around, but unlike everyone else playing and catching pokemon he ignored any friendly vibes people tried to give him (most people nod or smile/laugh as they walk past others). I saw he beat a gym and walk away. Then I captured the gym from him. He walked back salty as fuck and I waited for him to walk away again while I enjoyed my lure module. When I went to recap the gym for team instinct I bumped into 2 other people from my team. We talked while we battled the gym.

I think my phone is dead though. The phone turns off at about 30% battery left. Thank goodness I have a 10k solar charge station for the pool due in tomorrow and bought yesterdays DotD from amazon (20k portable charger). I think I might drive to the nearby instinct gym and drop a vaporeon in it.

I also stumbled into a pair of kids smoking weed this morning by a baseball field. Then my egg hatched and I got a 223 Drowzee. This game is great

Edit. Servers are down I'm not going anywhere. Maybe I should eat dinner

Caught a high level Golbat and thought "sweet, now I can get Crobat, I love Crobat" and then I remembered Crobat is from Gen II :(

They should, at minimum, at least add the Gen II, IV and VI Pokemon that are related to the Gen I Pokemon. I think most people are comfortable with Pokemon like Scizor, Pichu or Steelix that it wouldn't distract from the nostalgia too much.

In my city on every block I see people walking around and playing. A 9 year old boy. A young teenager. Groups of college girls. Older couples. Two jacked guys in muscle shirts. This is the biggest thing that Nintendo has done since the launch of the Wii and maybe even more important long term since this has the potential to reach hundreds of millions to a billion people. Total game changer for Nintendo as a company.

Here's what I posted when this was announced last year so it's cool to see it all come together...
"I'm really happy to see Nintendo willing to evolve and take chances on a project like this. I think this is going to be just huge for them. If this becomes a huge money maker along the lines of Clash of Clans, Candy Crush, etc. then this is going to dramatically change Nintendo as a company. Good job big N can't wait to see the final product."

A Jynx and a Meowth eluded me and my dog for roughly an hour, when I got close to the Jynx the server crashed and was back to 3 footprints. Sigh.

There's a local Taco Stand that is giving free order of "Torta de Carne Asada" if you catch up a Pokemon at their stand, and an order of Tacos if you have a PKMN over level 100 (i guess they mean the CP thing?). This is getting out of hand people lol

I'm yellow team. Nobody seems to like Zapdos.

They don't know that Zapdos is the better one :(

I must have missed some kind of rumble over here by my house. This morning, all the gyms were red team and stacked with 3-4 very high level fully evolved Pokemon.

Right now, they're all occupied by blue, with only a single slightly high level Pokemon.

I'm yellow team. Nobody seems to like Zapdos.

I love all these stories about people walking capturing Pokemon and seeing others doing the same

Shame that'll never happen here (North East, England), too rural near where I live :(

Do you need wifi to play this game when I'm out about and about or data

Please say I don't need either

Does anyone think Pokemon Go will cut into the sales of the mainline series in a noticeable way? There is enough different between them (no trading or battling local trainers besides gym battles atm, only two moves per Pokemon, no tm/hm) to make it so hardcore/competitive fans will obviously stick with the newest entries, but I gotta wonder if what is currently in P:Go will be enough to satisfy casual fans who only played the games to catch Pokemon and didn't concern themselves with the more competitive aspects. Of course, I don't know the sales breakdown between hardcore/casual/children is so even if what I say did happen there would be no way for me to reasonably guess what the outcome would be.

I think it will. It's not that Pokemon Go will take away from the audience that the main series has since their appeal is so different. But it looks like Pokemon Go is the new face of the franchise to the world, and people who are just getting into the franchise will only hear about Go. In other words, I think Go will cut into the main series just by preventing it from getting new followers.

Think of it this way: If you're a parent and your child is excited about Pokemon, you could satiate them just by downloading this app on a phone you already have, rather than spending money on a 3DS and new game.

Pokemon Go is helping small businesses too. My girlfriend runs a double decker carousel and was wondering why it was so busy this morning. I got her to download Pokemon Go last night so she opened it to play and saw that her carousel was a Pokestop :) Business has been really good as a result!

So I took a walk around the perimeter of the local cemetery (nearly 500 acres) hoping I would come across some ghost Pokemon. Didn't find any near the cemetery, but spotted a Ghastly by a lure'd spot. Unfortunately, the game crashed and when I restarted, it was gone. :( Damn it all.

Also hatched another 10km egg but only got a XS Onix out of it. Blah.

Bah. This 1HP Gym bug is really annoying

Yeah I'm pretty much avoiding gym battles until it's fixed. It happens 9/10 times for me.

I walked around the city capitol and caught about 40 pokemon in two hours. I saw probably about 20 people playing it also (saw the game on their screens) and was thinking about giving them shoutouts like in the Youtube video but all of them were boyfriend/girlfriend couples and it seemed awkward to bother them =/

Went to a mall and, while inside made my GPS signal a little wonky, I managed to get a few new pokemon.

Got a Nidorino and Nidorina, a couple of Clefairy, Eevee (close to enough candies to evolve, leaning to Jolteon because I lack a fair amount of electric types), and a Caterpie.

Evolved my Pigeotto and Meowth. Also evolved my 300+ CP Growlithe and became an Arcanine with a whopping 900+ CP!

I may need to buy more Lucky Eggs because it really helped me jump from Level 11 to 13.

Almost beat a gym but the Jolteon wouldn't die, even though the timer ran out. Is this the 1 HP glitch or did the servers just die?

Either way, Pokemon GO really needs to patch these problems before people sour on this game.

For now though its insanely popular, about 30 people in the park today all playing the game.

I know this has probably been asked and answered like a million times, so... sorry, but it there any reason to fully level a Pokemon before I evolve it? Can it get it to higher max stats that way or does it not matter either way?

Anyone have an answer to this? I have a Pidgeotto that I could evolve but I still have one or two more times I can level it up. I wanna do whatever's most optimal so I can go cap the nearby gym for Instinct (the best team).

Yeah, I saw on Reddit some business doing the same, that' sjust so cool.

Tell her to use a lure when she can ^^

I was driving and had the girlfriend manning both our devices - on the way to our destination we caught a lot (nothing special but no issues catching bugs and birds). However, on the way home everything was a dust cloud with the Pokemon running away after a single attempt. Did they possibly put something in to prevent vehicle playing? Speculative at this point but curious if anyone else is seeing the same.

Is it even worth trying to dodge during battle? I feel like it barely ever registers and I should just be attacking the whole time.

I'm out running some errands, and had to drive about 30 minutes away from home. I stopped at a Sonic just now for a drink before heading back.

The car hop sees the server message screen on my phone when she brings my drink, and tells me "good luck getting on, there are a ton of Eevees around here!"
