Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

Man, I wish the game didn't feel like such a dumpster fire sometimes. I was out for half an hour and probably managed to actually play for half that time. The rest of it was spent restarting the app after a crash while catching a Pokemon, or seeing the "servers are down lol" message. The worst was walking up to a lure on a Pokestop ACROSS THE STREET FROM MY APARTMENT, and then not being able to log into the servers and getting the "servers are down" message. Go back to my apartment, hook up to wifi, and *tada* the servers work, but I'm too far away from the Pokestop so fuck you.

Listen, I know my cell provider is not fantastic at providing reliable service, but come on. If I can load webpages and do other stuff fine, why is Pokemon Go so damned touchy? Oh, and look, another lure just popped up next to the first one. Two lures now that I probably can't take advantage of. Sigh.

Oh, while I'm at it, other things I don't like about what is otherwise a wonderful experience in theory:

- AR mode kills my music player every time and generally has poor loading/framerate
- the app itself kills my music player every time I start it, which is often because of the aforementioned connection issues
- every so often the game just forgets my settings, so haha AR mode, sound and music are back on and battery saver mode is off, haha ENJOY

1. So when you battle in gyms you basically just tap the screen to attack? Do you have to tap at a specific place on the screen?

2. How do you change attacks?

My town is overrun by the Red team. Pretty much every gym is claimed by them and full of pokemon. I've come across 2 blue gyms and both only had one defender. My poor blue team :(

One of the rare times I'm jealous of iOS. Can't play it on my Android phone due to server issues but works fine on their iPhone's. Only started it last night because I didn't want to deal with server issues too much. Argh.

I'm on iOS and only my friends on Android play without issue...

Walked around my town at night with my partner and house mates at 2am. Challenging gyms and collecting the Pokestops. Love this game haha.

The 1HP glitch struck again twice! The one time it didn't, someone on Valor drove by and placed an Eevee on the neutralized gym. Then Eevee got the second glitch. Hurry up with that fix, it's getting ridiculous!

I finally hit a gym on MTSU's campus that consistently had the 1HP bug. I spent probably an hour trying every possible solution before giving up. :<

This game definitely thrives in densely populated areas. Where I live it's very residential, but last night I went out with a friend and we sat at a bar with Go open (the bar was conventiently in the center of 3 PokeStops) and after last call walked up and down the main stretch (all the stores were closed but people were still out) collecting PokeStops and looking for any Pokemon that caught our attention--we both snagged a Hypno, mine was like 425 CP which was nice. It was way more fun walking up and down that stretch than it was walking around my neighborhood.

So what is the consensus on evolution, stardust, CP and powering up?

Are bigger pokemon just better than smaller ones?

From what I've seen Evolving is a safer bet. Basically you want L/XL versions with high CP, then you want to evolve them to their highest form and power them up from there--I think. I only have a few crappy examples (had a S Pidgeot and evolved a L Pidgey, and the Pidgeotto was substantially stronger than the Pidgeot at that point, same thing happened with a Weedle and Kakuna) but it seems like Evolving Pokemon with good base stats is better than trying to find highest form Pokemon that are good.

EDIT: Nevermind, apparently size after Evolution is random, so it doesn't really matter.

The area around West London is a goldmine for Pokestops and gyms! My GF lives in Kensington, so stayed here to see what's happening in the Poké world
and see her obviously

Aaaaand already kicked from the servers. Yaaaaay

I'll never understand this absolute refusal to throw a couple of bucks to a free app you're genuinely enjoying and sinking time into. It was free. You're enjoying it enough that you actually hit your item limit. I'd say Niantic has at least earned a few of your dollars.

They made a VOW. That's sacred!

You were right so I did...And The coins weren't added to my account.
Hopefully it's just a server thing and they'll show up soon.

Speaking of sore legs, anyone injure themselves while playing?

Somehow my ankle area got semi-sprained(?) 2 days ago. Yesterday I still got a little bit of play in, but I was limping. Today I just rode my bike mostly which was fine, but for now I'm going to just stay off of it until I get back in good shape.

I'm not sure how it happened. It wasn't one abrupt event.

I also ran and exercised a lot before PoGP, so it's more unfortunate coincidence than not being used to running, though I guess I have been covering more distance than I usually do when I'm just running for exercise.

5km egg got me this

Other two were just a ponyta and mankey.

Caught two Bulbasaur and a Rhydon through the park, though.

just trying to get through the registration process to play this is kinda like a game, just a really stupid shitty one

Go...outside?

Well I've been playing this for a few minutes in the past few days and I've been getting by little by little. Catching pokemon here and there, but the server disconnects really test my patience sometimes. These disconnects got in the way of me catching pokes and trying to get Pokestop stuff.

Haven't fought anyone yet though.

Glad you you came around to the idea!

If the charge went through, the coins should appear in your account sooner or later as soon as the server shenanigans settle down. If you purchase something, only hit the purchase button once and wait for the coins to be withdrawn from your account.

If there were server trip-ups during the transaction, hitting it again will register the additional presses as purchases that will also sync once the servers come back on. I would know since I now have 50 more item slots than I wanted. Not that I'm complaining; it'll be much more convenient for me :P

But don't let this sour you on IAP. If there were no server issues, it would be an instantaneous, straightforward process.

Why do some Pokemon not haev size ratings?

So what kinda movesets are good? High power Normal moves or Matched type moves

most special-type moves I come across are pretty weak

*training a Psyduck with Cross Chop* o_O
look for opinions on this pretty plz

or is it a non-question if they disappear after evolving

This game is a fuckin monster, i have seen at least 15 people looking at their phone at each poke stop I drove to.

There is a park across from the bar I was at last night with a friend, and we saw at least 3-4 groups of people all huddled around looking at their phones approximately where each PokeStop was. It's definitely getting a lot of attention. Also, Pokemon Go made my Uber ride home like 10x better--caught a Squirtle on the way :D

Cool, thanks.

I reboot the game and the coins were there so all is good :)

damn now I can't wait to go to work cuz every 5 minutes 3 pokemon pop up and there's 3 pokestops. last night I went from 3 pokemon to over 30. don't even gotta walk around!
