Gotta love the 400 candy requirement for evolving magikarp.
the grindiest easter egg in gaming historyIt's pretty clever. "400 candies? Who would ever waste their time on this Pokemon?"
and I do it because I must have him.

Walked around and what not for over an hour and didn't catch shit while using the incense. Bs.
iPhone?
After 9 hours of continuous testing GAF I can confirm the iPhone app for at least performance on my 6s+.....is complete utter shit.
Freezing every two Pokemon, terrible loading on the signs, it's fucking borked for the iPhone.
I went and grabbed my one plus 3......again testing another 6 hours straight riding around on my bike. NOT ONE crash......no issues. I'm so mad that the brand new iPhone I have is basically worthless to me because it's absolutely fucking terrible for Pokemon.
Your Pokemon don't faint when you lose at a Friendly gym.
Can you see any on your map when you load the app? If so, that's still doing better than a whooole lot of people who catch a couple of rattata's in their backyard and then have to drive to the mall to play.I have one poke stop near (which isnt that near) and then a couple more someways down the road, and still find all sorts of stuff. Being near a stop has nothing to do with spawn rates. Was probably server problems if you couldnt find anything.
Where'd you catch it? I've been thinking about driving to the city's power plant to see if there's any electric types as I haven't seen me other than a joleteon. My Electabuzz.

So I read somewhere that being by a body of water will give you a chance to catch water type Pokemon... Is this true? I ask because I walked around a local fishing pond for like 30 mins and only saw the usual Pidgeys, Ratatas, and 1 Pikachu.
Huh? Gyms are incredibly easy to understand given how overly simplified they are in this game. What don't you understand?I have no idea how gyms work at all but I suspect they'll be changing them soon anyway, considering the fact that nobody seems to know how the hell gyms work.
That system, suggesting nodes in Ingress, is ultimately what decided the position of stops and gyms in this game.Apparently Ingress had a system where you could suggest locations for things.
yeah 100% agreed, I cannot think of anything I would compare this to.I decided to drive through the town square tonight to see if there were any good Stops there. There were no less than 25-30 there, and tons of them were lured. I felt like I was at a convention, there were so many people out and about playing this game.
I've actually never seen anything like this before.
caught him with the sweet power of my legs from a 10km egg.Where'd you catch it? I've been thinking about driving to the city's power plant to see if there's any electric types as I haven't seen me other than a joleteon.
So how do you get rare Pokemon or those with higher CP? Do I need to level up or go to a different location? I'm currently halfway through level 4, and while I'm not really playing much, I feel like its a pretty slow process. Especially given data caps.
Best wishes.

The only Water types I've caught (Psyduck and Magikarp) have been near bodies of water, so there might be some truth to it.So I read somewhere that being by a body of water will give you a chance to catch water type Pokemon... Visit Pokestops often. If you get a 10 km egg, put it in the incubator. A couple runs or one biking trip later, you'll likely have a rare high CP Pokemon. So how do you get rare Pokemon or those with higher CP? Do I need to level up or go to a different location? Ah, cool. I have four 10km eggs in incubators as we speak. Hope I get lucky.caught him with the sweet power of my legs from a 10km egg.
I still don't understand the gyms. There was a friendly gym near me, so I went to go help defend it. It was prestige level two and already had two defenders. I fought there a little bit and won my first battle, but lost the next few. I didn't leave a pokemon behind to defend because I don't think I was given the option? Did me fighting and losing help that gym? I feel like by winning the first battle I weakened the defending pokemon and made it easier to defeat for another team. I'm confused.

In some ways, you can consider Ingress a lengthy test case and data aggregation experiment for future projects... like this one. Something like 50% of the Ingress points in their exact positions are ported over to Pogo. I dunno if they are going to introduce it in this one or not.
There's also something to be said for places that honestly, just don't have anything you'd make a notable landmark. I know that sounds harsh, but I mean, imagine you just go hiking in a forest, there's no notable individual markers, and right now that 100% means no pokestops.
Even in Ingress, you couldn't just choose "This arrangement of roots on the ground at this longitude and latitude" it had to be something easily identifiable by other players. In Niantic's perfect version of the game, things that change in real life- by me, there are a couple mall signs/sculptures that are pokestops that are no longer actually there- would also cease to exist in the game. These things will never be perfect, but it's what they're going for with the augmented reality concept.

That's been debunked. It's false.
It's not true

I live in a suburban area, so things are really spread out where I am too. I reeaallllly want to suggest this location as a pokestop or gym.
I'd call it... Route 12
It's not random, but it's also not impossible to catch pokemon in situations outside of the areas in which they actually are most common.I'm just chilling in my home with no huge mass of water around (except for my pool) and apparently a Kingler is nearby. It's either the game is messing with me or its just random.
That's awesome. You could just walk up and down and stock up.This is near my work, ultimate walk

The craziest part: this is in Canada where the game hasn't been officially released yet.
i think that about sums it upthis is in Canada where the game hasn't been officially released yet.

lol yeah but people can't just go download the game from the app store. The game pulls data from Ingress so all the pokestops and gyms are just points of interest from Ingress
It seems Pokemon just has that ability. Remember twitch plays Pokemon? That was crazy popular. Everyone I knew even if they weren't into twitch(some didn't even really understand what twitch was) or Pokemon heard of it.My night out at the bars became a Pokemon Go fiesta. I saw people all over the city playing this game. At the bar and on the walk there, groups of 5-15 people huddling and laughing. This game is a cultural phenomenon overnight. Not sure I've seen anything like it.
