Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

Was surprised how many I found just walking around my apt complex a few mins ago. This app is gonna be the thing to get my ass in shape. Gonna go all out tomorrow and hit up a gym and some PokeStops and meet some peeps, yet to have that experience (with the app!). It's insane how pervasive this shit is, literally almost to my doorstep, got home earlier after running errands and saw two dudes right in front of my building with phones out. It's everywhere!
Not gonna lie, Lucky Eggs helped A LOT. I was in the beta and knew to get those right away at the start to maximize experience since you find Pokemon with higher CP if you're leveled higher. I don't actually play other smartphone games and had $40 in credit from Google Opinion Rewards collecting dust, so cashed that in.
Servers were working well enough in the morning so that I could wander freely without worrying about disconnects, and my sister wanted to go around catching monsters at night, so yeah I spent a little too much time on it today!

My progress for yesterday
Not bad for my area, but the foot prints thing is really starting to bug me because I can't seem to figure out which way I'm ever supposed to go for 3 prints. Each time I find a direction that seems promising the Pokemon eventually just disappears.
Also as an FYI for anyone interested, it seems like Dratini are nocturnal because every one of them I have found has been at night.

Saw a few people asking so FYI rustling leaves does not mean Pokemon are around there it is just a common spawn location, so likely there will be one nearby but not guaranteed.
reminds me, earlier today when we took this lion statue which is not in a good spot, a car drove by and yelled out "that's team mystic's gym!" at us. yeah that kind of thing happens all the time right? -_-

What's funny is this is Niantic/TPC indirectly subsidizing local business XD I mean obviously they profit, but this is fascinating in econ terms, the restaurant is comfortable enough that they'll make more with your presence there versus a competitor who isn't so pokéfriendly. I don't know how much a single Lure module runs but lol.
You could hit very high levels always using lucky eggs and hatching eggs, and especially getting new pokemon. I don't have very many lucky eggs and I haven't bought anything yet, it's a huge deal for me to buy digital currency for any game. The fact that it even makes me consider it is... nuts. But I will never buy myself pokeballs. I just can't do it. If I run out of pokeballs I'm done for the night. Such is the life of a poor level 9 pokemon trainer.
Yea watching Gamexplain video of him in SF did look like if given enough time in that setup you could be very high level I guess.
A guy on a skateboard with tats and piercings sped by me and yelled "what team?", I yelled back "instinct," and he growled back "hell yeeeeeeaaaaahhh" as his voice faded in the distance.
It's amazing the variety of people playing.

I got kicked out of all of the gyms I claimed for the past few days, which means no free pokecoins for me. And if I run into the same hp glitch problem tomorrow, I don't see myself involved in gym battles anytime soon.

I don't get it. I'm blue and I beat a red gym. The gym has not turned to blue and I can't put my own Pokemon there. What's more it still registers the red player and his Charmander like owning the place and when I try to battle him again I enter the battle, it goes "Ready, GO" and just kicks me out without the battle happening. :/ Restarting and moving away then back did nothing.

The app has to be open for the Egg incubator step counter to work? That seems unintuitive. Battery drain is massive on this thing.
One of the more popular bars along the beach where I live is a pokestop, me and my friends popped some lures the other night and by the time we left there was at least twenty people gathered around getting excited whenever anything shows up. Its weird how this simple game is bringing random people together so effectively.
Yes. And if you travel too fast it won't count it.
Beating a gym doesn't mean the team is removed. It just lowers prestige by 2000 or so

Backup battery pack is pretty much required if you want to go balls out...but it's 2016, who the fuck doesn't have a backup charger???
I dunno, there was this one woman posting Pokemon GO videos, encountering them one after the other in the day. She lived by / was walking by some stream/creek park though.
Naw, Mystic is life. Here in South Florida Blue got many of the local gyms on lockdown. Including our actual local gym (for fitness and stuff).

I've been thinking this all day since I've been playing this. This game is going to be insane using this tech, especially if you can do battles and multiple people can see the same pokemon. It could be like 5 years away at the most

This is a massive thread so pardon what might be an obvious question - to get this running in the UK on iOS do I just need to download it via my US iTunes account? Will it still run here OK? I hear word of banning for doing this?
Multiple people can already see the same Pokemon.
Been using mine for a day. Not sure if it'll result in a ban!

The box on the bottom right starts to blink yellow on the Pokemon you're tracking indicating that's the right direction to follow.

BTW is anyone else not getting experience for curveballs? The ball glows with stars and definitely curves when I throw it but I am not getting any bonus exp on catches.

Went outside for the first time to play this around midnight after a few hours of Pump It Up (Korean dance game). I live in Biloxi, MS and there are sooo many cool spots to visit while playing Pokemon GO. I must have walked around with my friend for almost two hours catching stuff and we met seriously like...30 people walking around as well playing even at 1am! Mostly people around 25-40 (I myself am 29). Men and women of all shapes and sizes. Everyone was cool, friendly, and helpful. It was a very surreal experience in a good way. I never knew this was something I wanted lol. I got a hell of a workout just walking down the beach, it's so humid outside too and hot as hell. Definitely going to be playing this more.

That's what I thought.
It has to also land in the circle and say NICE, GREAT, or EXCELLENT on screen to get the bonus.

How my night began. This beautiful view of The Santa Monica pier. I've never seen something like this in gaming before. EVERYONE was playing. Groups of people any phone you looked at had pokemon. Friendships were being made high fives were being given. It was just incredible. Started at level 9.
and this is where I ended my night. Level 13 and picking up quite a few monsters. These are my highest CP ones though I caught a lot more. Probably over 100 tonight alone.

They've been pretty good. Still getting kicked out once in awhile. But yeah 100 times better then it was.
It's not true. Maybe it's intended to work this way, but if it is it's bugged and highly unreliable.
I mean the same in like a same model sense. Hopefully AR tech would basically be like the Pokémon go reveal trailer, with multiple people around seeing the same thing from their own perspective
