Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

Anyone tried hatching an egg while walking or jogging on a tredmill? Curious if I could hatch eggs while I'm at the gym.
I believe it actually checks for distance traveled and the time it took for you to travel that distance (kinda sorta speed estimate), so that won't work.

I can't confirm this, but I'm pretty sure it's not purely based on the pedometer. Your GPS location may be a factor (in fact, it might be the only factor). So you need to actually move around.

Literally 500 CP over my next highest Pokemon, LOL

I'm so jealous. Lapras has always been my favorite water Pokemon. I want one so bad. :(

Ok so a Bulbasaur just popped outside while I was walking my dog. I have no Pokeballs.

I will not drive to the closest stop this time of night. Nope, not doin it.

took all of my revives and potions, but I now control a gym!!!!

Bad news, all my pokemon died in the battle so I had to leave a 97 krabby to defend it.

Me and a line of about fifteen random cars just spent two hours (from 12 am to 2 am) driving around town hitting pokestops and gyms. It was pretty cool. I destroyed a team Valor gym (instinct ftw) and a dude recaptured it and flipped me of in a playful fashion. I also got quite a few "rare" Pokemon. What a fun night.

Pretty crazy seeing first-hand what a phenomenon it already is. I walked down to the supermarket for about half an hour before - four different groups of people strung along the fence of a park, hitting a lure. Two girls walking down the main street glued to it. A couple standing outside the bank trying to take advantage of a lure, with another group of six or so kids across the road doing the same. Dudes parked up in their cars etc.

All of this in a not very densely populated city in the dark on a Sunday night, in the middle of winter when the game has only been out for a few days. It's easy to see what the servers at Niantic are near constantly on fire. There must be tens of millions of people playing this simultaneously - it's like 1998 all over again, but I feel like the fad is going to be even bigger this time, almost 20 years on.

Today I got Jigglypuff. I can't express what kind of joy I felt for getting stupid Jigglypuff.

This game is great.

I spent an hour and 50+ potions at a nearby park at 130am in pitch black darkness beefing up a Team Instinct gym with my Snorlax. I raised it from level 3 to level 6 so hopefully it becomes a good source of coinage. :)

Do I have to keep the app open or will it notify me of nearby Pokeymans when it's in my pocket?

Also, this game is rad. It's not even out in my country and there's already tons of Gyms nearby and my area is littered with Pokestops. Got dat Drowzee, yo.

I'm sure this has been discussed before but I'm on phone and navigating PhoneGAF is so so. I just want to know if anyone has been banned from downloading the apk? I've only heard rumors and arguments against banning, but I just want to make sure. Anyone here playing off of the apk?

Me. Playing from Germany on Android via apk. No problems so far.

That damn 1 HP glitch is so annoying.

Team instinct took over almost everything over night, and when i went out to claim those gyms back i always failed because of the 1 HP glitch, even though i followed the advice from earlier in this thread.

Buuut, i caught an 346 CP Hitmonchan, and a 301 Bellsprout along the way, so i got at least something out of it

Ditto

Nice! Before driving around my city I drove for about thirty minutes to a huge power substation hoping for voltorbs, magnemites, and electabuzzes. There was fuck all out there except five gyms in the middle of nowhere with some of the weakest mons I've seen defending it. I moved in to claim them in the name of Instinct! I probably could have beat it and been king for a few days.

Every single one had the HP glitch. That shit is super annoying.

Well, I went out last night, got a bit drunk and spent my entire bike ride home searching for Pokémon. It was goddamn hilarious.

R.i.p. my data plan, though. Used up 600 megabyte in one night. I've only got one gig, have to wait until August to get it replenished. The usage is fucking ridiculous.

What is the max amount of Pokemon that can be in a gym? There are two blue gyms nearby with each 3 Pokemon and I want to help my buddies out

Yeah, usage is rough. I have a Galaxy S7 through Verizon with 5gb of data and a iPhone 6s through t-mobile with unlimited. The app on the iPhone constantly freezes when I'm catching a Pokemon so I used my galaxy and tore through data. It blows but is worth it.

6. You can spar with your team in order to get it to higher levels and put more Pokémon. There's a really good post a few pages back now that talks more in depth.

Question, does the pokemon keep their moves after they evolve or does it change to other possible moves? I'm asking because I got a pidgeotto with Wing Attack and Twister and I was wondering if it was worth it to evolve it or just find another one with a better charge attack.

You sure it's Pokemon Go? I checked my app data usage for PG and it's only 100 MB since July 7th after playing at least 3-5 hours per day. Today I must have played almost 7.

Moves get randomized again from what I've seen.

That's really weird, i had a 22mb usage for something like 6-7 hours of the app being always open

I just did the same. Pokémon GO is nothing compared to Chrome (a lot of GAF) for me. Even Twitter uses more data than Pokémon GO.

Actually, you're right. I thought it said .4gb used but it said .04gb. That's a relief.

Sad part for me is that the game won't detect my phone's orientation so no AR feature for me. I even verified my phone has a working compass and gyroscope.

There's something else your phone was doing then, because the data usage on this app isn't bad at all.

I've only used 70mb after 25km walked.

ARs a hassle anyway. Sure, you get to see the mon superimposed over a real environment, but non-AR mode is way more convenient for catching without the phone's position factoring in.

I live in Danmark in a very small town. Went for 10 minutes walk on my street with incense on. All i got was 2 fearow and an eevee:s
Highest is 119 and i am lvl 4
