Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

You select the PokéStop and between the spinning circle and the PokéStop name, there's a little space you can tap that opens up a separate item menu where you can select your Lure.

Thank you for telling me this!

so has there been any info or ways to prevent the app from freezing when catching a pokemon in a pokeball? it feels like it happens most of the time when i'm trying to catch something (iphone 5s) and even turning off AR mode doesn't seem to help much. :/

Outside of a good part of yesterday where we were holding the 4 Gyms nearest to me, it feels like I've seen more Red and Blue than Yellow overall.

so this game just murdered my Nexus 5X.

walked around a shopping center with my wife a bit. caught some pokemons and visited a bunch of posts, and noticed my phone was getting really hot and the battery was draining super fast. got into my car to go home and connected my charger. phone getting hotter.

15 minutes later i get home and my battery didn't get any charge on the way back. connected it to a wall charger and no charging indicator came on. phone still really hot. rebooted my phone and connected it to a much nice USB-C to USB-C charger and it said it was charging. less than a minute later i check to see if it was "charging rapidly" or not, and when i touched the cable next to the charging port it burned my finger. phone was blazing hot and so i turned it off.

after it cooled off i noticed a burning smell, and looked into the charging port with a flashlight. melted plastic. AWESOME. my chargers and cables are all proper USB-C and rated for those specs. no crappy budget stuff here. i've also used my GPS out and about plenty times before, and although my phone would get a little warm, nothing this extreme, and no battery drain near this bad.

waiting to hear back from Google if they'll replace it or not since i have the protection on it till next year. :(
This only happens to my Galaxy S6 if I'm using an external battery to keep it charged while walking. Otherwise, I just charge it when it starts to get low, which lets me know I should be heading home anyway.

When it's bright it, it does prove challenging, though, as the phone goes into ultra bright mode and does give me overheating warnings if I play too long.

Used a incense on a walking trail. Got whole bunch of Pokemon. Several eevee's. Clefary, gastly and whole bunch more.

So many people were out playing. Even captured my 1st gym! Saw several groups out using lures.

i finally realized the awesomeness of PokeGo today. went downtown to have lunch with friends, saw a lure at a fountain a block away. this was the first time ive used it outside of my neighborhood. there were about 15 people haning out catching, talking stratrgies etc...

after lunch me and my two buddies walk to the river because we see a gym at the suspension bridge. we take the gym(go instinct!) and people just start trying to take it over. when we finally left there were at least ten people destroying us. damn team blue bastards!

so we walk down the river a bit and come across a meca of lured pokestops at all the monuments, like 6 stops in close proximity. at least 40 people walkig around, chillin and then we notice a line of cars had approached on the side of the road with everyone in their cars glued to their phones. it was a really cool experience, we were yelling out when a pokemon appeared further away...exchanging tips, people were explaining the more intricate things of the game to eachother.

very freaking cool. only bad thing is its 100 degrees outside and i didnt wear sunscreen
This is so fucking nuts. I can't believe how popular this game is, and only after a few days.

This happened to my S7. The second it started getting hot, I immediatly turned it off for a few minutes. I love Pokemon hunting.. but I like my 700 dollar phone better.

Still nothing to catch around here. Got like 150 poke balls and nothing to use them on. I pretty much have to go sit at a poke stop and farm it for the paltry 50 exp just to get to lv5.

Yeah here in Chicago there are lots of people at Certain Gyms just playing. Its a big phenomenon. I think Pokemon has always brought hype but everyone is on their phone so why not play the game. I even have family members who I would never of thought would of played the game no are playing the game and we all are going out during family parties or just hanging out and catching pokemon all together.

Anyway to transfer your Pokemon to the Professor for Candy more efficiently? As far as I can see you have to tap the individual pokemon and Transfer it at the bottom one by one. =/

This is ridiculous. My son has been trying to create a PTC account since yesterday morning and it keeps giving in the "Too many people yadda yadda yadda" message. When will they allow new people to join in the fun?

On a note related to pokemon being visible globally - I think each instance of the pokemon moves around slightly too.

Twice now I've been sat still at home, noicing a monster 1 footprint away. Without moving at all, and the character not moving on the phone either, the monster appeared on the screen (the same one that was 1 footprint away). Also in the gym earlier I had an Onyx that appeared to be 2 footprints away, and then became 1 footprint away.

My guess is that all instances of the pokemon spawn at the same origin, and then either they all follow a shared set path (once you see your pokemon on screen it stops, but other instances are still moving) or all wonder randomly.

EIther way, cool stuff!

good to know i'm not alone.

on the phone with Google now and they're honoring my replacement under warranty!

My Nexus 5X was getting ridicously hot earlier too, I was working in the lab with the phone screen left on and charging the entire time, in hindsight I won't be doing that again!

why not just register with Google? your email is much easier to remember anyways

Make him a GMail account and he will be able to get in.

game is janky as fuck. I've had a lot of fun with it even having barely touched the gym stuff, but while I haven't seen the "our servers are experiencing issues" screen much in the past few days, I encounter a lot of shit like the game only loading an empty map, or freezing up during battle

How do I leave a Pokemon at a gym? I "won" one of my same team and didn't see a way to leave a guy there so I can rank

I'm in the UK where it's not officially out yet, but as I was walking past a zebra crossing I saw three students waiting to cross the road, all with their phones out. I strained to see what was on there and, yep, that telltale Pokemon Go map.

I shouted "Pokemon?" out to them, and they all looked at me and cheered, and I cheered back.

Then I walked into a lamppost. :(

Each Gym has a Rank that can be raised by training at a friendly gym or lowered by battling an enemy gym. As the rank increases, more people can post Pokemon to defend the gym. The ranks correspond directly to the number of Pokemon that can be placed - Rank 2 can have 2 Pokemon, Rank 21 can have 21, etc.

To actually post a Pokemon - assuming there is a slot open - you can press the button at the bottom left while having a gym active.

So after trying the beta for 5 minutes and dismissing the game when it first came out, I've been in for 2 days. Been walking 3 miles a day and gotten a few decent Pokemon so far.

Any tips on fighting? I tried yesterday and got demolished. Tried another gym and did slightly better. Figured out tapping does an attack and not swiping up and down like I thought the day before. Is there anyway to use both moves or is it just random?
