How s Pikachu in the rarity scale? Dying to get my hands on one

I got one out of an egg today. I've heard of a few other people catching wild ones. I don't think they're super rare.

That way only works if you change it so all players move to a distance traveled vs geo location method for the game.

Not that I'm against moving away from geo location and more towards distance.

You lost me I don't know what this means. Take away pokestops and make everyone walk? Why is that necessary?

You've all to understand that this game has been not created from scrratch but it is based on Ingress, previous game Niantics made. Basicly the maps/spots were imported and just converted for Pokemon Go. Most of the actual locations were summited by Ingress players too but unfortunaly Niantics closed the submissions email since last year. That's why you can end up in a cemetery...

Also the goal is "treasure hunting" playing from your couch is not the goal of these app. Yes, it's unfortunate for people with handicap, that app was not designed for them. Which also mean that a lot of tweaks must been made for Pokemon go players but I don't know if Niantics alone will have the man power to do it or will want to do it.

That's why I fucking hope that Nintendo step up, the HP bug will have been fixed ASAP if it was Nintendo and not been brought from the closed beta. I will be pretty disapointted in Nintendo if they do nothing to "bug free" this game at least.

Battle system will probably not been deepen because lot of players are noobs and doubt most of them will sit 5 mins to understand the battle mechancis from main games.
But trades system is doable and will stay noob friendly.
This game is not supposed to replace the main pokemon games so don't hope for a lot about this.

Went to a larger city today for work. Went to check out a stop with a lure, and it was hilariously (sad) how everyone was sitting as far away from each other as possible as they captured Pokemon in complete silence.

Pity, I hoped it'd have been more like in the US. Game isn't officially out here, but still.

Hatched a bunch of eggs, got mostly pidgeys. Only new ones I caught today were Koffing and a Cubone, the place is still crawling with Rattata and Weedle and I wonder if that's always going to be the case.

Well my office has a pokestop in it and one across from it. I can reach both from one corner of the building and one from my desk itself. I feel blessed. Too low on data this month to be able to keep going outside and play... must live off the wifi

This is fundamentally not what is happening though. Being based on Geo Location vs being based on Distance traveled makes it so for some they CAN play from their couch or their office desk without ever having to move.

That or even if they do move they are getting 10x the benefit for like half the distance traveled.

I'm aware this would require a full back end app redesign, and that isn't gonna happen through.

Saw 2 yesterday, my wife sent me out to find it, I caught it for her but it ran away from me.

Did you go back home empty handed?

just evolved my pidgeotto into bird jesus and caught a pinsir all within the last hour. today's already going pretty goddang well. sucks that i'm confined to an office desk for most of the day though.

The game's in alpha, more than anything. It's not content complete, even disregarding Pokemon. A lot of the instances need to be fixed/changed, as well as re-opening submissions for Pokespots and Gyms. There are many little things about the game that bug me right now, but man it's a guilty pleasure.

Does this game need mobile internet? If you download the area before leaving the house, does it still work?

Trying to figure out a way to get the kids playing this on their tablets but they don't have mobile internet.

I hope it doesn't take too long before submissions are possible. I'm sitting in a cafe right now at a corner of a park that didn't exist when submissions to Ingress was open.

But I like that it's geolocation, when I'm out with my buddies we're all looking for the same pokemon in the same spot. If it's distance traveled you wouldn't be able to look for pokemon they would just pop up while your walking, completely randomly.

Eliminating the reason to have your phone out searching for pokemon.

I'm sorry, but I completely disagree with almost everything you're saying about this game. If it was distance travelled with unlimited pokeballs I could walk in circles in my backyard and catch a billion pokemon.

Need to be always conncted, downloading the maps only helps with loading times, consumes (not confirmed tho)

I would love to submit more locations at my university m. Currently they're all in one general area and I can think of at least 6 or so areas that could easily spread students out playing in the fall.

I work on a college campus. My building is a PokeStop, and the one next door is a gym, but there are never any Pokemon nearby. The only time I've ever encountered anything is when using a lure or incense. What gives?

You need to walk around the area I guess...?

Oh man, My desk is right on top of a pokestop and I work in a building of 70 computer tech support people.

When I got to work this morning someone had already used a lure on our building.

I'm going to run out of pokeballs faster than I can catch them probably.

The game experience has to be on another level if you live in a city. I live in a pretty rural area where a car is required so things have been pretty slow and the pickings of Pokemon slim. I only ever really open the app when I'm traveling to a store or work to see what is nearby. Simply just walking around isn't really an option and the results are worthless anyway.

I knew this was going to happen though. I had messed around with Ingress, the other game by Niantic and the experience was the same. The two games are setup in a very similar way but with Pokemon Go having the random pokemon in areas to collect.

As I said in the other thread for what it is, it's good and a strong pull on nostalgia for those that haven't touch Pokemon in ages. Going forward though I'll be sticking with the non-mobile games.

I am really curious where things are in the next weeks after the newness has worn off and the fervor has calmed down and people have traveled all over their neighborhoods.

This.

Current gameplay loop requires Poke Balls. Without them you are fundamentally gated and can't do anything else to progress on your own.

you mean.... the single most common item you get from a pokestop?

Seriously, I have never gone to a pokestop and received any less than 3 pokeballs.. usually.

or are people just complaining about actually having to go out and get them.........

THIS IS ALREADY HAPPENING WITHOUT ANY WALKING.

I think this is fact you are missing.

The game you are worried about being broken for you is ALREADY BROKEN.

You have to walk. It's based on where you are so if your circle isn't moving on the map or you don't have an insence on you're not going to see any.

First day/time loot. Not too bad, I guess? This is just me travelling from home to work to (actual) gym and back to home (most of it happens while I'm on the bus). The rest of the Pokes are just repeats.

You should be able to get something working if you can create a wi-fi hotspot from a nearby mobile phone?

No it's not though. When I didn't understand how it worked I tried and I got a whopping 1 pokemon. I gave up because it was dumb.

Unless you're talking about people hacking with jailbroken phones, then I don't know what to tell you. Find a better way to ban them.

To evolve a Pokémon that has plenty of CP or use one of those with lower CP? (Does the CP vanish is my question)

some pokemon give a huge CP buff compared to others. My Evee went from 424 to a 1200 vaporean, while my pidgey going to Pidgeot received a total of maybe 150 going through 2 evolutions.

There's a strip on my campus that's just a bunch of Pokestops. Frequent lure usage as well. I'm glad I currently live in a good area, lol

does it count distance walked without the app open for eggs or do you have to be walking with the app open? because if it's the latter then that's fucking duuuuumb.

No I'm complaining because I can't get any pokestops unless I drive at 60 MPH for ten minutes. And then loiter around outside a shady hotel or keep driving further on literally the only road that exists for ten to fifteen minutes to get three more balls. Not everybody lives in a city.

Went with Pikachu for my starter.
First day's haul: Eevee, Weedle, Venonat, Zubat, Voltorb, Gastly, Spearow, Rattata. Two eggs. +35 Poke balls.

Probably going to go out for a cycle this evening to get one of those eggs evolved. I'm starting to think that I should plan my regular cycle routes around Pokestops. Unfortunately it doesn't seem like my Moto G (2013) supports AR which is a big appeal of the game. Glad they let you play without that functionality.

App needs to be ope, but you cal also put it in Battery Save Mode then wich will darken the screen when the phone is upside down in your pocket

Fundamentally not true.

They spawn based on the map. You don't have to move.

What do you mean? I'm not grasping what you're saying. They spawn based on the map. Meaning you have to move to certain spots on the map to find them. If I sit in my backyard all day I'll get 3. If I walk around all day I'll get hundreds.

Am I stupid? Can someone else chime in?

That moment when the cops are in your way when you try to catch a ratata

i had to go over to a bench and get it but i was so focused on my game that i allmost bumped into 4 cops with body armor and guns <.< lol

Battery saver mode, then hold your phone in your hand with the top facing the ground. It how I usually walk around with my phone of I'm wearing pants without pockets anyway.

12 hours after getting into this game and I have seen zero Pokemon. Even after using incense. What in the world is going on?

Edit: of course after I post this one shows up.

Edit 2: aaaand it froze.
