Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

Unless you immediately just need the higher cp, say to attack/place a defender in a gym, and don't yet have the candy yet, evolving is better. Or more specifically, both will raise the Pokémon's CP, but evolution also has other benefits.

Ahh OK. Thanks.

Golbat is so far my best one, found him like that but Poliwag is defo the cutest one :D

Now to find more Pokeballs ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

How does this power up and evolve thing work? Which is better?

power up raises their CP (attack power and HP)

Evolve evolves to their next form (while raising CP)

as for which is better.. it mostly doesn't seem to matter EXCEPT that on an evolve abilities can be overwritten. so if you have a mon with a moveset you like, evolve first. if you still like his moves, then power up.

edit - yeah.. the best reason to power up before evolve is you have enough candies for a major power up, but not enough for an evolve. just know that when you evolve you may lose the current abilities. however their boosted CP WILL carry over to the evolution.

Does anyone have a screenshot from the countryside? I'm wondering if there are any gyms or pokestops at all.

I'm at work right now, but I live in a very rural area and there's nothing around. The closest PokeStop is a 5 minute car ride away. The closest gym is more like 10-15.

YMMV obviously

Anyone know if they plan on adding apple watch support? It would be perfect for this game and it's crazy that it's not already a feature. I guess they gotta sell those plus bracelet things. I would pay for watch support.

so the smaller the ring the better chance to catch

that would mean getting nice or a great doesn't increase the chance to catch however with that risk you will get extra points on the catch, while excellent is basically a perfect throw.? Is that what I'm reading correct....if so, fuck great or nice throws.....I'd rather have a higher chance to catch something than go for a nice or great for easy xp.

But don't you level faster if you evolve?

Evolving pidgey is 600 and caterpie or weedle are 500 easy evolve xp.....yes they speed up your leveling massively.

The hype is crazy lmao... even the dutch news channels report on it... We never report hardware/software outside iphone/samsung!

So much fun to see litterly EVERYONE is on this, its insane really!

So lot of gyms are taken over by some tough ass shit, and it's going to get worse with time as escalation happens. Whats to prevent the gyms being mostly locked down in the near future by high powered creatures? How are newer players supposed to compete?

Do you get XP for claiming a gym?

Benefits to get a gym

Multiple points!

1. Training at gym in the first place (whether or not it has a slot for one of your Pokemon yet) gives you XP and raises the Prestige of the gym
2. If the Gym goes up in Prestige level that unlocks another slot for you to put in a Pokemon
3. A challenger must defeat all Pokemon inhabiting an enemy gym, so leaving your Poke there is helping to fortify it
4. Having a Pokemon defending a Gym grants you a daily bonus of the cash shop coins (Shield icon on the shop page). You don't have to be the gym leader, the bonus is the same.

Well it relies on ingress portals, right? I guess if there aren't any landmarks then there aren't likely to be pokestops. Can you still submit portals?

Anyone notice the map is outdated? For instance I built my house 2.5 years ago and it's not on the map along with a lot of others in my neighborhood along with a few businesses I've noticed...

I got so many good Mons out walking around my community, its awesome.

Yesterday, I went out in front of my house looking for them and found nothing, came back from my walk today and got jumped by a Jigglypuff and a Weepinbell xD

It leans heavily in favor of the attackers. You can fight it with a group of six pokemon and even team up with other people to all fight it at the same time. You also only need to defeat a single pokemon at the gym to lower its prestige. Whereas to power it up you can only fight it with a single pokemon by yourself. This allows weaker pokemon to whittle the gym down.

I live in a town of about 130,000+, and it's a wasteland here too. My nearest PokeStop and Gym are about the same distance as yours.

Hey guys I have a question about the leveling up and evolution aspects of this game.

Will the evolution of a Mon be stronger if it's at max level? Or will it adjust accordingly?

For example

Will Pidgey at max CP yield me a stronger piggeotto at max CP vs evolving a pidgey right away?

Nope closed since 2015 :(
Can report bad portal spot though

Shame. I guess I'm lucky, there are about 10 in a hundred yard radius of me,and a couple of gyms about 3 mins walk away.

Not all the ingress portals are pokestops though. I guess they could add more.

Is this game actually fun? I love the idea (like everyone) but the actual gameplay looks pretty poor.

It's pretty simple, but it makes boring walks to work a lot more enjoyable.

If you want something with more depth, check out Ingress. Same developer, mostly the same real world locations.

I'm not sure, it may have been the mic picking up the wind like when you blow into a 3DS?

No idea but it was super windy and all my throws were flying oddly, kind of funny

I've definitely been frustrated at catching a Pidgeot where all of my straight throws were veering wildly to the sides for some reason as if I was doing a super curveball. Not sure if it's something a Pokemon is capable of doing or a bug, I got mad after 20 balls and my GF took it off me and did it in one go with no shenanigans so I had to deal with the gloats for a while too.
