Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

Posted for new page:

Ever since level 10, everything is breaking out 5+ times now, even if I use berries or get a "nice!" or "great!" throw. Even if they're not a high cp as well (just had a cp 40 caterpie break out 4 times then run.) What am I doing wrong?

The cynic in me thinks it knows I spent cash on pokeballs so it's making the catch rate go down so I'll spend more.

Been swimming in Eevees but ran out of pokeballs and have no pokestops near me :/

It is such a huge advantage to be in a major city for this. The building I am in and its exterior (like, not having to cross the street, in or "on" the damn building) has 8 Pokestops and a gym.

And yet somehow, I'm not consistently in range of any of them from my desk.

Is there a site that compils every tips for this game ? I'm level 11 on this game so I know a lot but seems like I didn't master how find nearby Pokemon properly

Saw this on the Pokemon Go reddit:

You are doing absolutely nothing wrong. You're just having bad luck. Ride it out.

I'm a level 13 with varying results as well.

Start with the FAQ in the first post! If you have any specific questions after that, ask here :)

I think the best way for Niantic to make money on this would be sponsored Pokestops. Let Chipotle or McDonald's pay to have every store turned to a pokestop for a week. It's a win-win-win!

meh, I've already spent $30. and the game is the number one grossing app on both iOS and Google. I think they've figured out how to make money :P

I'm kind of having the same issue. Just went for a walk at level 6 and for the first time had several pokemon break out 3+ times in a row before being caught. Previously I had caught everything on my first or second throw.

Get used to it. You'll get great balls at lvl 12 which will help a bit.

Verizon 6s on T-Mobile here and Pokemon Go only works well when connected to WiFi. Pokémon Go is SLOW and unresponsive (app freezes when catching Pokemon, getting kicked out of gyms) on my cellular network even though Speed test says I get 80Mbps. GPS seems to be working fine. I turned on personal hotspot and connected my Moto E and it works fine. Anyone have any ideas what the problem is?

ok why did you curse me.

I'm having trouble like crazy now!

Can I just block Zubats already?

I don't object to Zubats being too common, they're not really, they're probably only just inside my top ten most frequent and maybe not even that. I object to them mastering the Force and using it to guide tens upon tens of Pokeballs hopelessly offscreen.

Caught a Rapidash at around midnight last night... then a few minutes later i found a Chansey.

Both i saw while laying in bed... jumped up and ran out the door down the street to get em in the middle of the night... XD

Sadly, my daughter was asleep so no pictures with her and Chansey... lol.

What does the yellow star by the CP mean?

At Level 14 and every other Pokemon I see is a Zubat still.

So jealous of those of you with a bunch of Eevee's around. I caught one today and that was my highlight. Still need about four more to go to spin the wheel and see if I can get Jolteon.
i want my jolteon too and I need 6 more. :( And I'm only level 11. Good luck in your eendeavors, though.
This is very important information. Thank you.
I dunno... while it may be very important if we get something confirmed, for the moment this seems like total speculation to me, and if it were a completely random distribution it's still a 33% chance of getting any given evolution (meaning false "confirmation" of any given theory is very possible). Very hard to know anything for sure about this without tons and tons of data we don't have. One person evolving 5 eevees is so far from being statistically significant it's almost 0.

The eevees that evolved for me did not follow that speculated pattern so theory debunked.

Here's a bug? I just see a blank white screen if I open the shop. Anyone else? If I leave it on this screen long enough the game just freezes altogether and needs a restart.

This wouldn't bother me too much except the button on that page controls my Daily Bonus rewards...
Does the app need to be open and running for anything to work? Or can it be running in the background?

I live in a rural area quite a way away from the center of town. Walked around for a kilometer, only finding a few stray Pokémon here and there. Was a bit disappointed in the game at this point...

...then I went into the center of town. YOOOOOOOO!! PokéStops everywhere, gyms ablaze and plenty of other people playing (the game is not even officially released here). I'm hooked now.

That's happened to me a few times as well. I mostly just shrug and discount it as server errors, reboot the app and it works just fine.

I went to the Atlanta Zoo today and went from level 5 to 9 by catching Pokemon and hitting up stops. No real good gym there, though. Saw TONS of people playing.

Went to a couple stores this morning and was surprised to find no Pokestops in sight. Once I left and got close to a community park, a ton of Pokestops fpopped up.

I keep seeing this, that it's already blowing up in places that people can't even get it from their official stores yet. I really hope some other people out there are getting exactly how significant this is!

What country are you in?
does trainer level affect how much CP gain you get when upgrading?
Good question, I assume you mean per candy use- like if I Power Up right before versus right after leveling, will the +Whatever amount be higher? I think it must. It absolutely affects your mon's potential max CP.

Is there a list of what every Pokemon could possibly know in Go? It has Tackle and Thunderbolt, but I don't know what the other possibilities are.

You need a reddit account but:

http://thesilphroad.com/

is in my experience the best one.

Tackle/Thunderbolt is not a great combination for Electrode. Generally speaking, you want to stack same-type moves, because your fast attack will actually do the majority of your damage and so you'll pick Pokemon to attack based on their fast move, meaning then having a different-typed charge move is a waste. The best Electrode moveset is:

Spark/Discharge

which is every one in eight Electrodes. So in your case, I'd try evolving your Voltorb to see what you get.

I don't see how a latecomer to the game can catch up fast enough to take on a gym. I finally found a gym and the trainer there is just too strong and pretty soon it'll just continually escalate in strength that a newbie would have to grind for a long time to be able to take it on.

That's how it works right, or am I missing something?

It would be cool if this game became so popular that:

- random coffee shop (or other) gets tagged as a Pokestop
- business soars due to Go players spending extended time there
- business re-brands to something Pokemon-esque themed

There are 400 people going to a pokemon go gathering at my zoo today holy shit(according to facebook.)
Damn.

That sounds fun as hell. I bet Pokemon like hanging out at zoos hahaha

The Facebook group I'm in for my metro area's Pokemon Go League passed 1000 members this morning. The Mystic-only local group (which is only people who have met each other in person in this immediate area) has 40 alone.
