Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

I don't think I'll ever be a gym leader at this rate. Don't have as much free time or money to spend unfortunately and by the time I will, they will just get even further ahead, which really sucks. I'll just stick to catching Pokemon for now.

Also I encountered a Pidgeot however it wasn't in the nearby list. Is it possible to encounter fully evolved Pokemon's like a Charizard or Dragonite in the wild? If so, is it all level based?

Best wishes.

I'm p. sure I'm the strongest trainer in my local area. I tolerate Team Valour, which has maybe 3-4 local guys (compared to me and 1 other for Instinct); we have a sort of deal where we leave each other alone. That's so we can focus on Mystic, who have at least 12 players at this point and some people not far off me. This alliance must hold.

Also, I'm amazed. Literally two-three days ago in this thread you'll finding me talking about how I could claim all five gyms in my town because nobody else had it yet. Now I'm really struggling, already. This thing is phenomenal; I live in a rural as fuck area of a country it hasn't officially rolled out in.
Incredible.
Current emotional state: In awe of local gym leaders who have very strong Pokemon. Must train hard to become stronger.

Oh god I'm becoming an anime character.
yeah it's the best
LifeActiv. Got it at REI.
Thanks!

Looks like it might not be compatible with just a standard metal plate magnetwise, seems like their adapter kind of clicks in... will look into it.

Super curious about this thing, it's so cheap and simple https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01AQU45QS/?tag=neogaf0e-20
Update! 😁😁😁😁
Android too or you on iOS?

Magnet kinda secures it quickly into place, then you push down a lever that locks it so it doesn't jostle free (which I was worried about due to some of the trails around here). To remove you just undo the lever and turn the phone 45 degrees counter clockwise.

That's him, meowth and pikachu that's rolled up to my front door now!

That cp though... :(

Where the WWE talked about pokemon go?

For the lever part to work, it definitely needs that piece that you adhere to your case, right?

There's a pokestop right by my office that always has a lure in it.

Bad thing is, from where I'm sitting I'm just outside of its reach :(

I can reach it when I'm leaving or on lunch break

caught nothing but Rattata's and Spearows :(

I think that is a function of level? Once your trainer level gets higher, you might more variety.

Just hit level 7 earlier, and it's been almost all rats and birds. Starting to see 100 and 200+ CP ones though.

so..how exactly gym works?
here in my town we red have basically a monopoly..so i ended up just putting some of my pokèmon in gyms around the town, wherever there was a space free...but now?
what i get for it exactly?

Go to the Shop page, in the upper right there's a button.

You get some Stardust (basic currency) and Coins (microtransaction store currency), once a day.
Ya unless somehow yours is compatible? *shrug*
I just have literally a metal plate on the inside of my phone's removeable back. If you've ever seen an iMagnet or similar device, it works awesome. This seems much more secure (which is great) but probably not compatible. I also don't use a case for the moment, one of the things I love about this phone :P

Do certain pokemon keep the same moves after they evolve? Like will my Ekans have the same moves when I evolve into an Arbok? Or my Growlithe when it turns into Arcanine?

I assume some kinds have to get new moves, like I'm sure my Nidoran won't keep his same weak ass moves when it turns into a Nidoking.

I can vouch for Anker. Best value at any capacity IMO. I have the $40 20,000mAh one

Anker is the best brand. They'll replace your unit if it's faulty even months or years after release.

Shame you missed the 20k charger version for the same price a few days ago.

Oh crap, I wish I knew about it.

Eh my card was unavailable anyway.

Please someone confirm the 1HP bug is gone.

Because if it is i'm going to earn myself some badges tonight. Team Mystic never sleeps.

Also, if I see a gym getting hit with lightning and thunder clouds, does that mean it's currently under attack?

Hey travelers,
Just wanted to share a quick update from our researchers! We are seeing widespread confirmation that the 1 HP bug (also affectionately called the 'zombie bug') has ceased to be a problem for most users.
We know this bug has had a huge negative impact on Gym gameplay, and are happy to report that it appears to have been resolved through a server-side update!
Get out there and see if this is the case where you're at!
Travel safe,

uh, can I get a fuck yeah?
What is that subreddit ? O.o
Niantic post themself on it ?
*curious*

Well if it's true then I'm happy for ya guys.
The Silph Road was basically the beta testing community, they've done a bunch of awesome stuff and yeah Niantic posts to them on occasion :)

edit: Just to be clear, Dronpes isn't from Niantic, he's one of the subreddit's mods

Just went to get back all three of the town gyms, no 1hp bugs on any of them

Might've been lucky tho!

OH! they actually fixed it, nice!

Ok, what am I doing wrong?
The app constantly loses track of the distance I've walked.
It took me 4 days to hatch a 2 km egg, even though iI've walked like 5 km.

How exactly do I have to exit the app on Android to keep it running? .

Was able to create a trainer account about an hour ago and created a child account while I was at it but now cannot log in with the child account because it says I didn't accept the EULA. Now when I try to log in to do that I can't even get to the page.

Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

You don't exit the app.

Is(n't) that something you can do from your browser?

That actually sounds like rather a different bug. The 1hp glitch you COULDN'T move on to the next stage, and DID lose all the HP spent fighting the invincible pokemon :P

well now there's your problem right there.

I need to understand this too. I've been stuck at 1.2km since yesterday even with the app running.

Is(n't) that something you can do from your browser?

Yeah but at first when I clicked on my daughters name via my profile page it just took me back to my profile page. Now I've made it to her profile page and I can click on the "Pokemon Go Settings" option I either get redirected to the Pokemon homepage or to a maintenance message.

Odd, I've seen some other people have been reporting it not tracking as well. It seems like it does err on the side of being less generous with the GPS distance than helping you out, though as a general rule it actually has worked pretty well for me as long as I'm under the speed limit. How much have you definitely walked?

I swear. The app keeps bugging out and freezing so I think at that moment, it doesn't register that you've walked any kind of distance. I walked 5km yesterday and it only registered 2km. blehh

this rapidash in morongos casino was telling us to go to the women's bathroom ._.

Went hunting with a colleague today during lunch. Highlight:
*I spot a Meowth*
"You're standing still on the middle of the road"
"Yes but Meowth"

In my defence it was a very quiet piece of street.

I really don't get these posts and the news stories around the web about the game making players walk into traffic or urging them into weird and dangerous areas. My cousin was like there's a Nidoran by the couch, there's a Meowth in the other room, come catch it... and I had to explain that's not how the game works. GPS isn't that accurate and your player's range is huge, therefore Pokémon pop out in a very wide area. My guess is a few thousand square feet. No need to stand on a pinpoint-specific spot or walk into a women's bathroom... unless it's a warehouse-sized bathroom and the Pokémon is in the middle of it, far out of your enormous range. And if one pops out as you're crossing the street, you don't have to stop there to catch it since nothing bad will happen if you keep walking away from the area.

its for attention.........you could hit any of those pokemon within a huge chunk of distance.

The rest of the area was blocked off. Our best bet was going into the Women's bathroom, It's true.
