Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

Caught this on my morning PokeWalk. How lucky am I?

Also caught Meowth
And Pikachu was a secret starter Pokemon all along. :(

For anyone curious, I sideloaded the APK originally and never uninstalled it, and just updated via the Play store with no issues.
Yup, noticed this too. I rolled back to version 1.0 and the map is back to normal. Didn't find version 1.0.1 to be any more stable anyway.
Hopefully this is just a bug, I really liked the precise location

I had to pick up my mom this morning and when I got there she was complaining about people making noise outside last night. I pull out the game and sure enough there is a gym right outside her apartment.

Pokémon Company says Holocaust museum should fill out its contact form to be delisted:
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2016-07-12-holocaust-museum-pleads-stop-playing-pokemon-go-here

I am sure the holocaust museum can handle filling out that form.
and I think the answer is not that bad, it makes sense to make it public that you can fill out a form to delist your property. there will be tons of cases like that if the game keeps blowing up, so it makes more sense to get that fact our so in the future people can filll out that form instead of complaining to a newspaper in the hope that Niantic reads that newspaper and delists them.

I feel terrible that I've basically found a way to grind levels super fast in this game.

It helps that I literally work on top of a pokestop.

Anyway, so I've been catching every pidgey I've ever seen.

This means I have a lot of pidgeys and a lot of pidgey candies.

Pop a lucky egg and start evolving those suckers. That's 1000xp a pop for 12 candies each.

I have to study until probably September 15th. So I won't install the game until then.

(I could catch Pokémon in house but my pokéballs would be up in no time and I don't plan on leaving the house for that, in that period.
Already reserved my username though by making an account online.)

So tell me the COLD. HARD. FACTS:
How much of a disadvantage will I have by the time I start lol?

It's a good thing I'm already bookmarking guides and tips left and right, so in September I can start from level zero with the latest knowledge of the mechanics.

That's the most popular method.

How many Pokemon do you have guys?

I have 32/151. And a Sandshrew just popped up randomly in my parents living room, and it wasn't even on the radar. It's my favorite Pokemon alongside Cubone.

Looked around all night and couldn't find shit about Lucky Egg's and how you receive them - evolved all my Pidgey last night at level 8 and got 2 lucky eggs at 9 & 10. ;\

I am surprised the Holocaust museum was used as a PoGo location. Thought they were delisted from Ingress like two years ago.

Been stuck with No GPS signal found all morning. Anyone else?

I've found plenty of rattatas and weedles to evolve for XP as well :P Also, getting eggs to just below hatching distance and then finishing them with the Lucky Egg on is grand XP.

Yeah it's all Weedles for me. At 12 candies a pop they are one of the cheapest options. And they're so common they may qualify as an infestation.

I mean...it really depends on how much longevity this game will have. Right now we're at the absolute peak where literally everyone is playing. It might be that by September only a fraction is still left. Or you might wind up with people on Level 30 or more when you start off on like 1.

It wont really be a huge difference, just that you likely wont be able to take on gyms by yourself and you'll have to throw a Pokemon onto your team's gyms only. You'll still be able to get all the Pokemon you want, and by then there should even be trading.

how does incense work?

Id assume this is how you get pokemon when youre at home? lol

In a sense, yes. If you're not going anywhere, incense will spawn a Pokemon at your feet generally every 7-10 minutes or so for a full 30 minutes. You might also get shafted and nothing appears. However, usually some newer Pokemon show up, like for instance I had a Nidorino spawn but it wasn't on the nearby list.

woodland you should check out our guides in the OP! Yeah Lucky Eggs will definitely help but you only get them from level up and buying them in the shop.

I thought it wasn't a stop just people catching pokemon there?

The Greenway trail (Roswell/Alpharetta GA) is filled with Pokestops (and a few gyms). In a 20 min period was able to get 35 pokeballs and a few eggs. I'm prob going to do that tonight.

Looks like I found the perfect place to stock up on things.

Oh nice! Downtown Alpharetta/Roswell are both great as well. My fiancee and I posted up in Alpharetta last night on a bench between 2 stops with 2 lures/incense going and a group of about 20 people had gathered by the time we were done.

Is there any reason for leveling pokemon? I find it wasteful since you can usually (outside the rare ones) find a better CP version. Maybe when you've fully evolved them?

it's amazing how many people are playing that you can get a rather large group turn up over a small 30 minute period, this game...

10 min and nothing yet :'(

so what do you do at a lured stop? My wife and I went to one and interacted with 6 other people, was nice but nothing was happening. Do you need to be within the stop range or can you be merely close to it? The baby started to cry so we left after a few minutes, didn't see any Pokemon

also, incense only works for 1 person? so if my wife and I are walking together and she uses an incense, I don't get any benefit?

so how do evolutions work...? HELLPP??

I read that if both forms have a same move (Quick Attack for example), it will always upgrade to the same attack (Quick Attack->Quick Attack). However I "think" I've seen this not be true. Both forms have Quick Attack, but at evolve he grabbed another move.

The only thing CP ever comes into play for is battling at Gyms, so if you need to power up a mon to make him more viable for attacking or placing at a gym, that's when you'd do it.

Otherwise, if you can hold out for whenever you catch a higher CP version, it will save you lots of stardust.

sometimes it takes a while for pokemon to show up. incense is for the person using only, only lure can help everyone

The one off Kimball Bridge Road? I saw that one literally had 2 pokestops right on top of each other. Went walking on Sunday and saw 2 lures there and like 20+ people. lol

you should walk, it increases the chance of pokemon showing up
I think he should also close and restart the game, could be connection issues. Incense definitely works at a 1 every ~5 min range even if sitting completely still.
I'm all out of Pokeballs :(
Heya Fern. Haha me too and I have 15 Great Balls from my last level up... Keep seeing stuff pop but I'm not using a Great Ball on a damn Weedle.

Gonna hit up some stops over lunch. :)

The worst thing about the game has been the newspeople trying to be hip about it...again.

My local weatherman told his story of how he was running, found a Pokemon on his phone, and then the Pokemon seemed to have been running away from him. I was like...yeahhh okayyyyyyyyyyyy. This game is crazy mainstream right now!

The first pokemon i caught was a pideotto, is that good that its already evolved, or bad in the sense that i cant mac stats or something?

With red circle/higher CP pokemon, your shots just start curving more automatically. I had this happen to me yesterday with a 470+ Pidgeot

SO THAT'S WHAT HAPPENED.
Holy shit, i found a 707cp pidgeot and i wasted 20 great balls before the bastard slipped away.

It's not that bad! You got 500 EXP for finding a new Pokemon, plus it gave you some Pidgey candies. Don't worry too much about stats or leveling up CP now. I'd say if you're just starting out, catch anything and everything that moves. In the long run, you'll start catching Pidgey that are higher level than that Pidgeotto would be after it evolves.

Lots of Time and Money.

My gyms have Pokemon with crazy stats too. They always seem to get defeated within 5-6 hours though. No idea how people do it.

Honestly, the gym battles are heavily favored to the attackers now. It's super easy to just sit there with weaker Pokemon and a bunch of revives and just wittle the gym down little by little.

So whats the highest cp pokemon have gotten early on ? I'm still level 4, my height cp pokemon was 42 but now on my my way home from the gym I caught a 149cp Pontya and an 80cp Pickachu. Is that good ? should i focus on strengthening these 2 for my first gym once I reach level 5 ?
