Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

I thought egg cp is based on the level you caught the egg not the level you hatch it. My old eggs were alot weaker yet the new eggs I caught seem better even on the same trainer level.

Don't expect to play smoothly today or in the next 3 days (or even this week) because the game just launched in 26 countries at once:

Doh. Waiting out the weekend would have been sensible I think

Made a decent little to a nearby town that is covered in Pokéstops ready for a nice day of catching. Servers die.

Fast losing interest in this game between constant server death and rural areas being a pale shadow of towns and cities.

Exactly why I started messing around with gps yesterday. Where I live I'm basically already playing a solo game so it's not changing my experience much. The closest place with pokestops that are regularly lured is 40 minutes away and it's just not realistic for me to make that drive every time I want to play the catching pokemon part of the experience. I'd have to spend hours walking around my town just to get enough pokeballs to feel like I'm going on a pokemon catching adventure.

Sure I can get banned but it's a free game and I'm not hurting anybody so my conscience is clean lol.

Game is pretty fun, shame about the server problems but I'm sure they'll iron out soon enough. There's a pokestop right outside my house (just out of range from my living room unfortunately!) and it's been really funny watching the kinds of people stopping to spin the magic pokeball wheel. Pretty much kids to business men, it's bonkers the range this app has picked up in its demographic. Just everyone is a trainer now I guess.

I'm glad I checked here before I went out this morning. I was going to hit up a few pokestops before I worked out, but looks like the people at niantic are morons and launched in 26 new countries over night to take their entire network down again. They seriously need to send out a goodwill care package to all the players that spent money on the game and had their items lost due to their servers being down. Even non paying players have lost countless items as well.

Hopefully I can get on today. I was thinking about taking a trip to the town over to walk their waterfront instead of my own after some people I've been talking with a few different nights said they found a large gathering of psychic pokemon (drowzee, hypno, abra, alakazam). There's a few nice places to grab lunch as well so it could be a nice afternoon, but only if the servers are working.

Thanks to whoever posted the eevee evolution trick. I'll finallly be able to get my jolteon.

Also, when I was talking with this couple I've seen a few times the guy mentioned if your game freezes while catching a pokemon allow the screen to stay open for the amount of time it would normally take to capture it (about 20 seconds) and then force close it. He said he's been able to capture more pokemon that way when the app dies mid catch.

Wow theyve really fucked this up now. Fad implosion within the month now people are gonna try logging in 10 times and then just giving up for good.

I don't blame Niantic because it's hard to prevent this, I don't think they thought that this would be the biggest app launch ever.

Poor IT sysadmin guys :(

Why on earth did they release in so many countries at once? This is the worst I've ever seen the servers. They are deader than dead.

Sure, I don't blame them for unprecedented demand. It's just annoying seeing them then pile on top of it by releasing in a bunch of new countries. It's the weekend and tons of people will be trying to be out playing this.

This could even turn people off the game when they can't get in to play.

Nice! They aren't many for Europe/France :(

Yeah, our little nonprofit serves Southeast Tennessee, but hopefully we can kind of inspire others to copy our idea and get parks cleab . It's ridiculous how many folks I've seen in parks in the past week, mostly adults too playing Pokemon. It's great!

I assumed they'd add more servers to accommodate the new countries... Guess not. How silly can they be? Their servers were already stressed, so why launch in 20 new countries?

What's beyond working overtime? Cuz that's probably how much they're working rn.

I would agree with you, but they already saw how it took off in the US and know the demand is high to play all over. I didn't mind the server problems when it launched here because who would have thought their mom and dad and aunt and everyone would be playing but launching in 26 countries at once when you can't get your servers stable for more than 24 hours straight in the countries you have sounds like stupidity.

Pretty much. Should have let those hundreds of million people play the game instead of making it miserable for everyone.

Just went for a 45 minute walk to see where my nearest Pokestops are. Found one about 25 minutes away. Captured a couple of Pokemon on the way but tapping on a Magikarp did nothing, then my incense didn't activate, so I restarted the game and I couldn't log in for the return journey.

Damn you, but this will be awesome when it works properly.

Did you say your nearest pokestop is 25 minutes away? Where do you live?

I live and work in Chicago. There are 1-2 pokestops per block.

I can understand it at the beginning, but having seen how popular the app has been in the countries launched so far, and the level of demand in countries it hadn't yet launched, they should have been able to better estimate demand before launching in 26 new countries at once.

why is Nintento launching in 26 more countries when the servers can barrely run the currently supported countries?!
that makes no sense since they cannot make money with servers being constantly offline
rather than investing some of their new revenues into servers they launch in a whole lot of other countries instead...

I'm here for the long run no matter how many bugs or server crashes we have to endure.
This game depends heavily on a large active player base.
You can't be in this game for the long run alone.
I hope they fix the servers soon because this game is aimed at kids and kids have a short attention span.
If it's not fixed in a few days they might forget about it and move on.
Especially since they don't have as much nostalgia for pokemon as 90's "kids".

Some of us live rurally. My nearest Pokestop without having to drive is about a 5-10minute walk away (an old church).

Maybe they had a unrelated incident, power outages or who knows, they added 26 countries, but they are medium to small sized.

Should have been a slow rollout throughout the week to add other countries. Now what might happen is the random people that they hooked that don't play a lot of games or know/remember much about Pokemon might throw in the towel.

I was in the mall looking to buy clothes for myself.. It's amazing how many people are playing this game.
I saw a pack of dudes looking on their phones go inside a sephora.

. Probably the only thing in the world that can make group of guys enter the place.
