Some info from the official website:

Mega Rayquaza
Rayquaza is said to be somehow connected with the mysteries of Mega Evolution. Now its Mega-Evolved appearance can be revealed at last! The Legendary Pokémon Rayquaza is said to achieve Mega Evolution in a unique way—unlike that of other Pokémon—due to its unique biology. What is this unique method? And what is the mystery of Mega Evolution? All will become clear in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire.

Rayquaza is a Pokémon distinguished by its high Attack and Sp. Atk. When it Mega Evolves, almost all of its stats get a boost, including these two, and it gains overwhelming power!

Delta Stream is an Ability that only Mega Rayquaza possesses: it fills the air with mysterious strong winds that affect the weather. These strong winds cannot be dispelled by changing the weather condition, except by a very limited number of Pokémon.

Dragon Ascent
The Dragon Ascent move, which Rayquaza alone can use, is a powerful one. It boasts one of the greatest power ratings of all Flying-type moves, putting it at the top of its class. Not only will you be surprised by its overwhelming power—you'll be mesmerized by its majestic appearance! After soaring up toward the heavens in a great burst of speed, it crashes down in attack, dealing massive damage.

Strong Winds Weather Condition
When Mega Rayquaza whips up strong winds with its Delta Stream Ability, this is what happens:
・The moves Rain Dance, Sunny Day, Sandstorm, and Hail will fail.
・The Abilities Drizzle, Drought, Sand Stream, and Snow Warning will fail to activate.
・Moves of a type that Flying-type Pokémon are usually weak to will only deal normal damage to any Flying-type Pokémon in the battle.

Also, with Delta Stream, weather effects last indefinitely as long as Mega Rayquaza remains in battle. When it is swapped out for another Pokémon on your team, the weather immediately returns to normal.

This is different than the Abilities Drizzle, Drought, Sand Stream, and Snow Warning, which can all affect the weather for five turns after being activated in battle, regardless of whether the Pokémon with these Abilities are still in battle or not.

The Delta Stream Ability and the Air Lock Ability are different in that Delta Stream fills the air with strong winds for as long as Mega Rayquaza remains in battle. Air Lock cancels out all weather-condition effects for all of the Pokémon in a battle as long as Rayquaza remains in the battle.

What the hell is Primal??

Is that like Darmanitan's forms or other pokemon, or is that a new feature?

Groudon and Kyogre have primal evolutions in the new games. I figured Rayquaza would also get one since he's the third gen 3 cover legendary.

I get these appeal to kids but Mega Legendaries is just so pointless, you make a ridiculous strong Pokemon more ridiculous, and either way they are banned from competitive play. It just seems rather pointless.

Nice, so we have a new weather that helps flying types. Since the name es "Delta Stream" it could be possible that we get something like just plain "Stream" (weather condition just for 5 turns) for other Pokémons.

Have they said how these Mega's will work when interacting with X and Y versions? Are they going to patch them into X and Y or will they not be able to be used when battling someone with X/Y?

Damn. It's too bad legendaries are used to keep my PC boxes warm. I always liked Rayquaza's design a lot, coming from someone who appreciates Mayan/Aztec aesthetics.

This is really the deciding factor if I purchase or not. I really have no intention of getting these games (hated sapphire when I had it). But, if the only way to get these new megas or new move tutor moves is to have my pokemon in R/S, then I'll bite the bullet. I just want to be able to trade and trade back and not drop that 40 and have another game to pop in the slot (laziness more than issue of value of game).

Looks like one of those seaweed dragons crossed with an electric eel (if they glowed like video games usually make them). A bit disapointed it's a Mega not Primal. Megas are so limiting.

Well, the ones from ORAS have been pretty disappointing so far.

Other than that, Mega Charizard X is probably the only design I like that comes to mind.

Ah I get you. The ones in ORAS aren't too amazing. I liked Mega Ampharos and Mega Banette though. Mega Rayquaza is cool looking until it does Dragon Ascent anyway, then it just looks silly to me.

Noooo, they're primal you see, megas are a bunch of doo-doo heads, they are destroying the essence of the Pokemon series!
lol

So all the stats get a boost and it loses it's weakness to rock, ice only does 2x and electric is back to 0.5x. Fuck, these are seriously powerful.
