Pokémon Omega Ruby / Alpha Sapphire: Mega Rayquaza confirmed during livestream

Well I mean they could have just played Favs with Salamence for all I know but you are right. But yes this picture makes me confident it will happen.

true, what was the other picture that had a bunch of pokemon all with megas except 1 who didnt. cant remember what 'mon that was but it will get a mega probly.

Mega Rayquayquay...truly looks like the angry babysitter that has to come and bitchslap Groudon and Kyogre when they start bitching.

Not too sure what the other one was.

I like to imagine the same thing. Rayquaza comes down all mad, slaps the 2 boys and she tells them to shut up.

While I don't like Mega, I have to admit that Mega Rayquaza design does look pretty cool.

Just going to treat it as a forme change though.

Mega instead of Primal? That's lame.

It's the same thing.

What the hell is Primal??

Is that like Darmanitan's forms or other pokemon, or is that a new feature?

Another way of saying Mega.

It was a primal age, early in the world's history... The natural world was overflowing with energy. That energy granted Groudon and Kyogre an overwhelming power. Seeking ever more of that energy for themselves, the two clashed again and again, and their battles cast the people and Pokémon of Hoenn into great danger. Brimming with the overwhelming power granted by the energy of nature, this transformation was named by later people "Primal Reversion." And the people called their tormentors Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre.

One Pokémon looked down upon this battle from the sky above. The Pokémon that dances in the heavens: Rayquaza. Rayquaza is venerated by the people of Hoenn as their protector and savior. When Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre had battled for 20 dawns and 20 nights, the world began to lose its natural balance and tilt toward destruction. The people, unable to endure any more, cried out to their mighty savior Rayquaza before a great stone that shone with rainbow brilliance. And a change came upon Rayquaza, weaving in the sky above Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre. Suffused in brilliant light, its body began to transform visibly. And then...

And then everybody broke out in dance with this song playing in the background.

I like the design save its Predator mouth.

And with a name like Dragon Descent surely it's--oh, it's a Flying type attack? Then why even put Dragon in the name? D'oh!

I like it.

Pokemon from the Hoenn dex that I'd love to have Mega Evolutions:
Mightyena, Shiftry, Ludicolo, Golem, Crobat, Tentacruel, Machamp, Magnezone, Torkoal, Muk, Weezing, Skarmory, Flygon, Cacturne, Zangoose, Seviper, Milotic, Starmie, Dusknoir, Ninetales, Golduck, Donphan, Glalie, Walrein, Kingdra

so, umm... mega rayquaza was all that was announced on that streaming right?

cause I was waiting for more substantial news...
like a battle frontier >:(

Rayquaza's alt form has the MegaStone symbol next to it's name. Whereas Kyogre and Groudon have an Alpha and Omega symbol instead.

Something to consider.

So is Mega Arceus an instant win then?

Would never happen, and it does not sweat its fighting weakness, since Espeed destroys everything anyways. But with Ice, Rock, and Electric losing there super effective damage against flying, this guy is going to own Ubers! And for laughs, just throw Dragonite on the team.

I was kind of hoping Deoxys would be the "key" to Mega Evolution.

A mysterious alien Pokemon appears and triggers latent changes in 'Mon DNA.
It basically writes itself.

Yeah it will still have 2X to those. I want to know if Ice will still be 2X since he is still part Dragon.

Regular Rayquaza is 4X weak to ice so Mega Rayquaza would be 2X weak to Ice, unless it's from a Pokémon with Moldbreaker, Teravolt and Turboblaze ability then it's 4X.

I loved Pokemon X and Y, but a year later I still find mega-evos to be a terrible idea. This one is no exception.

Just give us Mega Flygon, mega Shiftry, mega skarmory and mega Zangoose and I'm a happy customer.

Damn November can't come soon enough

Looks pretty badass tbh, all I need is Flygon now.

I've wanted Mega Flygon since the announcement of Megas. Logic therefore dictates that it won't be a thing, and if it is, will be the most horribly designed thing ever.

Loving the design of Rayquaza. Chinese dragons always looked neat.

Re: Primal Rayquaza

They seem to regard "primal" version as something that only selfish, power hungry Pokemon like Groudon and Kyogre use. Rayquaza is humanity's protector, hence the purer Mega Evolution, which requires a the power of a trainer and a Pokemon to combine. Except in Rayquaza's case, it's not a single trainer, but the prayers of everyone who wants the fighting between Groudon/Kyogre to stop. The fact that it doesn't use primal evolution is totally justified.

Rayquaza: EVERYONE, LEND ME YOUR ENERGY

All things point to them being nearly identically functionally. The animations are super similar, they both change in battle, and they keep talking about "what is the connection between primal reversion and mega evolution?". I'm fairly confident it'll end up having maybe one minor difference at most, but still be pretty much identical to megas functionally, given that the distinction seems more story based
Plot twist: The Primal Evolutions deevolve the two legendaries, meaning the Groundon and Kyogre we always knew were actually their Mega Forms and the Primal Forms are their true forms. I'm totally expecting that now that I've thought about it even if it makes no sense lol.
