He was the best character on the show and you all know it!

Hey, wierd I was just thinking this needs to happen. Or at least a Pegasus type pokemon.
Maybe a Legendary for the White Version? Do we know if they're gonna introduce something like "Light" type Pokemon or something? Seems to fit right in with the whole Black and White theme. But then again, Darkrai was kinda meant to be evil...

I don't have a fancy picture, but:

Rapidash
65 HP
100 Atk
70 Def
80 SpA
80 SpD
105 Spe

Arcanine
90 HP
110 Atk
80 Def
100 SpA
80 SpD
95 Spe

Rapidash only wins in speed. Plus, Arcanine has a useful secondary ability in Intimidate whereas Rapidash only has the useless Run Away. Oh, and Arcanine learns decent moves.

It happened once, it'll happen again. Doesn't seem like we can a pokemon thread without digmon talk eventually showing up.

You guys could just start a Digimon nostalgia thread if you really want to discuss it that much.

Which is why I pine for a 3rd evo. :( But ponyta is still better than growlithe, it's just that dumb firestone acting like steroids and shit.

Edit: Fancy Pictures GO! Also Rapidash can have the Flash Fire ability, which can be pretty useful when switching out a mon weak against fire.

Christ. First this Pokemon anime shit and now you're bringing Digimon into this thread?!

I feel dirty being here!

Wait until we bring up BeyBlade. It's an adult show (swearing, nudity, violence, etc), so you'll feel even dirtier.

So which one was the first series and which the second and third?

I remember there was a series where these kids got sent to the digimon world, but they got out by the end. The second series had the same kids a little older (which I felt was a nice touch that the Pokemon anime could take a cue from) return to the digital world. Another time, I remember a red dinosaur being involved.

They were certainly well drawn, but there was no incentive for me to care about this world or its creatures at all. Also, the creature designs did suck, especially as the digimon upgraded.

Dude the third season of Digimon was so great. I enjoyed it better than all the other Digimon seasons. Anyway I'm going to stop now or else...

I remember i liked the animation on the Digimon movie (dunno wich one, the one that was on HBO sometime ?) it was really different from the anime. Much better.

Oh and the opening is great.

Rapidash needs an evolution pretty badly. With the physical/special split, it can now benefit from STAB on fire moves without getting laughed out of the room, but it's still sub-par.

Such an awesome design. Such a wasted opportunity.

So talking about Digimon gets the thread locked? That sucks. :( I suppose my Monster Rancher discussion will have to wait as well then?

It's a movie. Of course it's going to be better animated than the show.

Yeah, but it was really different like a whole different style, not the same thing but with more budget.. i see if i can find a vid.

edit: Ok i think it was this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRzRTPFSDo0&feature=related

And yeah lets not get the thread derailed.

edit2: exactly what Hitlersaurus Christ posted below me. From the same guy that made the girl who leapt through time, that explains it.

I think he's talking about the animation style used. The first 2 Digimon movies were directed by the guy who did the 6th One Piece movie, The Girl who Leapt Through Time, and the Summer Wars (which itself is pretty much an homage to the second Digimon movie.) All of them use a similar animation style that's more fluid than most anime.

ANYWAYS

How long does it generally take for Nintendo to announce the English names of the starters? I recall it being really close to the JApanese announcement for Ruby and Sapphire, but I don't remember how long it was for D&P... I'll be disappointed if Wotter and Pignition aren't actual names. :(

I remember it taking ages. It's to the point where I still think of Chimchar as Hirokazu (despite calling Piplup and Turtwig by their English names).

=O I need to see this movie NAO. I wonder if it's on Netflix.

Has NoA officially announced the games? I imagine as soon as they do, we'll get the starter names. Either way, I bet we see something at E3.

Also, I think Pignition would probably be the second evolution's name if not the first.

Probably another Regi, and some more vaguely dragon-looking things with lots of shiny patterns and glowy bits.
But hopefully they'll manage some RBY or GSC style legendaries.

Hmm... But what could be a suitable pun for the first evolution? ...Bake-on? oh god i just typed that

And I don't know if it's on netflix, but the movie's on youtube (obviously), along with the 3 Japanese movies it's made up of.

I hope we get a return to "natural" looking legendaries instead of more dragons and weird elf/lake things.

It feels like the legendaries have become increasingly...ornamental with each gen.

But then again legendary creatures aren't supposed to be based on "natural" looking creatures in the first place. Bring on the glowy orbs and things!

The first evolution should have a cute-ish name. Sadly, I think Bakon would work. It's just bad enough to be from NoA.

I know, but I like the looks of the Legendary Beasts over anything else. Maybe not the "main" legendaries, but the 3 "roamers" should look a bit more "natural."

On the other hand, some legendaries are getting simpler and simpler

Like Latias and Latios are pretty simple, then Manaphy and Shaymin are also pretty simple

Latios and Latias aren't ornamental, but I'd argue they're not simple either.

I agree with Manaphy and Shaymin though. I suppose the Regi's are also pretty simple, even if weird.

Manaphy does look like he's rocking some bling though:

I'm not sure planting the idea of cooking and eating your first Pokemon into the minds of the kids is really a good idea.

It's not the same thing, but we do have milk from Miltanks in the game.

Edit: Miltanks pokedex entry makes me laugh for some reason: Pokedex Entry:
It is said that kids who drink MILTANK's milk grow up to become hearty, healthy adults.

Im interested in this mostly because DPPt pretty much flat out state their legendaries are the pokeuniverses gods.

How do you top having god in a pokeball? Seriously?

Hopefully they just ignore it and resist the urge the fanbase seems to want to impose on them of trying to top them.

Super Mario Galaxy? Where does Nintendo go from there? Super Mario Universe? Amirite?

SMG was awesome but at the same time really shitty. I thought it was insulting how little Nintendo revolutionized with it especially after the backlash of failing to do so with SMS. So, while the game was a blast and I love every moment and everything about it, the true gamer within me that believes that the industry comes first just can't let itself like the game. SMG2 looks just flat-out and balls-out jaw-dropping with all of the new stuff and all of the fine tuning but, at the same time, I can't get over the fact that it's just a rehash. I'm definitely getting it day one but, unless they can out-revolutionize SM64, I don't think I could let myself get away with buying another Mario game.

Best joke post.

Why does everyone keep saying that the fire starter is a pig? It it a rabbit. It is hopping on the battle video. Rabbits hop. Pigs do not. A rabbit. Fire rabbit. Un conejo.

Tuskano.
Combustusk.
Charswine.
Razortusk.
Boaroast.

The japanese name is practically Porker.

Look at the tail and snout.

But rabbits don't really have snouts :x

I hope there are more fire type Pokemon this time around. In the recent generations it has been heavily underrepresented :/
4th gen had what... starters, Magmar's evolution and one legendary pokemon? We got even more dragon pokemon than fire! 3rd gen wasn't so good either with whopping... 6 fire pokemon?
We want MOAR FIRE!

I wanna see Water/Ghost Pokemon with a blue face and puffed up cheeks.

Though, I guess that'd actually be kinda gruesome since it'd be a, ya know, ghost Pokemon related to death.

A similarly themed Fire/Ghost Pokemon that's all hairless and covered in soot would be cool, too.
