Pokemon sequel is under development for DS

So the left one is mix of Cyndaquil and Charmander, the middle is a Turtwig and Spoink and the right is a Justin Bibarel and Floatzel. Great.

Could be a dino bird thing . . . in which case it doesn't have to have fire on it's tail when it could have feathers.

Got a better example!

Gonna PhotoShop me some mock up of how I see it.

</3 Teddiursa.
I was going to find that picture of that evil Teddiursa from an anime episode until I found out that there was an evil Togepi!!! When did that happen?!?!

edit: If it hasn't appeared in the English dub I so hope they make it talk like Mewtwo.

Wtf? 2nd gen starters suck. Both last gen starters are ten times better despite not being as good as 1st gen.

Also those mockups are hilarious. I think the right one would make a great Pokemon (a bearded old man Pokemon?).

Really from the third generation I thought the starters were pretty decent outside of Torchic (still makes me mad since I always use fire starters). Gen 4 IMO had no good looking starters. Maybe Piplup was okay.

I disagree. Maybe Chikorita was a little strange but Cyndaquil and Totodile are awesome!

Top will be electric, right will be ice.
(Top because of the coil tail, right because for some reason I am envisioning something with a scarf around its neck)

<3 the gen 4 starters. Gen 3 starters can DIAF. Gen 2 aren't super amazing, except for Cynaquil, who totally is.

I like almost all of the starters in their own way... maybe.

My favorites are Totodile and Charmander, though.

For final evolutions, there's Charizard, Feraligatr, Blaziken, and Empoleon.

If you liked the second gen starters without question your opinion is moot. Whats funny is that if gen 1 was actually the 3rd,4th or 5th generation we would think they would suck .

I must be the only person in the world who loved all the starters after letting them grow on me. Although, I do feel as though the first gen had an amazing hook with Bulbasaur, Charmander & Squirtle.

It's crazy how nostalgia absolutely clouds people's minds with Pokemon.

Like, people are willing to admit that other unchanging franchises still refined and did things better along the way

But Pokemon? I don't get the logic that Farfetch'd or Electrode are better designs than Lanturn and Luxray.

I like the new Pokmen. I just started Platinum, it's my first Pokemon since the Pikachu one and I like the little Penguin guy I chose. I hope he turns into something cool.

The comic is still pretty funny, though.

This is "Luxray" ?

:lol

Looks straight out of a 13 yo's deviantart account.

While I agree with your post: Lanturn? Lanturn? Lanturn is almost as forgettable as Lumineon, man...

In terms of starters: 1>4>2>3.

This is the only correct answer. Well...Gen 4 starts out a bit too cute for my tastes, but they make up for it with badass evolutions. I agree with Gen 3's DIAF.

Lanturn of all things man?

I never liked Lanturn

Pokemon are starting to look more like Digimon with every new game, I always felt that Digimon had shitty designs.
Pokemon always looked like Digimon. But yes, Digimon designs are inferior. What they really need to do with this generation is make bring them closer to looking like animals. None of this anthropomorphic and/or zany crap. I want pokemon that I could imagine seeing in real life. This is, of course, excluding pokemon based on mythical creatures or machines/metal/rocks.

The amount of anthropomorphic Pokemon introduced each generation is negligible compared to the amount of animal-like ones. This is especially apparent in generation four.

Out of the Pokemon you listed, Electrode is easily the best. He's still the fastest Electric Pokemon, and he has the coolest expressions.

As a side note, I think the 4th gen starters are among the most interesting, but I still think the comic is funny.

True but they're introducing a lot of stuff that's just TOO strange. It can't just be a dragon with fire on it's tail anymore it has to be a monkey with physiological armor and fire coming out of it's head. Infernape would have been so much cooler without the armor.

Oh no, this is turning into that other (locked) topic again isn't it? :\

Also, what the hell at evil Togepi?

not yet, maybe when it turns into a creepy hentai fanfic. I can provide that if you all want

Considering the motif is based on Sun Wukong from Journey to the West it really wouldn't look cooler at all. Infernape looks awesome the way he is.

You say strange, I say creative. You say generation one, I say lazy. :P

I wasn't saying generation 1 was the best. Personally 4 is my favorite. I just think it'd be cool if they made pokemon more grounded in reality.

That starter comic doesn't make sense. Speaking of only last evolutions, the only good thing that the first gen gave us was Venusaur, but the other starters aren't as good as fourth gen. Second gen had okay starters, and third one had good starters except for Sceptile which shouldn't exist.

That's boring and is the same thought process that lead to Stunky and Stuntank.

In coming up with this list and scanning Bulbapedia, it made me realize just how many are based on real life. Look at the list yourself.

Treecko --> Awesome
Grovyle --> BAMF
Sceptile --> What is this I don't even...

I still don't get why they would deviate so much from the previous two progressions...
