My point wasn't that Lanturn or Luxray look good, it's that the original 151 had a lot of generic, forgettable shit that we haven't forgotten because that was the first.
No matter what anyone says, Gen 2 will ALWAYS have the most god-awful designs. Gen 3 was pretty bad, but dear lord Gen 2 made me almost stop with the series. Thankfully they had SOME gems, like Houndoom, Tyranitar, The Dogs, Starters, and Legendaries to balance out the dogshit.

People say Gen 1 had the best designs because they were so simple that a child (the target audience) could draw most of them from memory. With a few exceptions, they looked more like they were from a storybook and less like they were from Shonen Jump.

Interesting silhouette, I'm guessing these are not going to look anything like what people are predicting though. They're rarely ever close. :lol But fun to see what people are coming up with. 
110% agreed, each gen has it's pitiful pokemon anyway. Will never understand how people say it's getting progressively worse. The first generation has a lot of good pokemon, but from my point of view a lot of the pokemon from the first generation are extremely generic ... and would probably generate a lot more hate if they were considered new now. The next generation designs are more out there and therefore more interesting to me.

For rivals it's Blue > Silver > Barry > Wally and Brendan/May.
Blue is easily the best rival because he was such a dick, but rightfully so. He was always one step ahead of you, and even accomplished your entire goal before you could. He's one of the few video game villains to actually accomplish his ultimate goal. Yeah, you beat him, but he still got there first. It's like if there's a hot chick both of you are pursuing, and he gets her before you do. Yeah, she eventually goes out with you, but let's face it, it's sloppy seconds.
Silver was actually kind of evil and literally stole Pokemon from other people. His entire storyline is driven by the fact that he only wants to beat the shit out of people (he even considers Team Rocket to be a bunch of posers) and probably spits of his Pokemon when no one's looking. It took numerous ass kickings by not only you, but Lance to finally set him straight. And even when he turns "good" he still only wants to get stronger. He also looks the coolest out of the rivals and

That's how I saw the one on the left when I first glanced at the silhouette. Looks like the face is looking towards the right. I didn't see a bill. If anything I think the one on the right could have a bill with that platypus looking tail.
