Have we ever had a first lady with a better booty in history? :lol

I'm talking to my friend about last night's debate. He's the type of guy who will look for any excuse to NOT vote for Obama.

Just as the analysts said on CNN and MSNBC-- McCain was effective with his base. My friend seems to think McCain was great last night. And yes, to the right wing, he hit it out of the park. Man, I wish my friend would stop watching FOX News...

More of his thoughts:

"How the hell does he plan on paying for all of his wonderful plans?"

"McCain should have continued saying "where were you 4 years ago?" Ohh? Were you even in Washington?!"

Not sure what he is but his comment sounded like Palin whining to me. Apologies if I insulted your friend.

My "whining" was about the absurd level of speculation on display, which echoed of the absurd level of speculation re: Bristol having birthed down's baby, and then today we have people putting forward this California kid that wants to be a wrapper claiming to be the father and we're supposed to take this seriously... :lol

My "whining," as it were, would not have a basis in McCain bias, but bias against Enquirer level nonsense.

I think Evillore just has dozens upon dozens of accounts. There's no other way to explain this many people being so irrational. :P

On the other hand, one account is all you need to change nearly every political thread's focus to that of your libertarian wackiness.

just got a phonecall.

"Hello this is a call from the McCain campaign and the RNC, because you need to know that Barack Obama has been friends with a domestic terrorist who has bombed etc etc"

*facepalm*

People dogpile me and make it personal and start attacking other things I said several threads ago and namecall and attack strawmen. I don't make them do any of that.

When they do these things, I get my hackles raised and I stick up for myself.

Ordinarily I'd have gone on to do other things, but I'm home sick today.

Where at/what time/how were the lines? Also, were there any McCain/GOP poll workers manning the lines with literature?

Orange County, Morehead Planetarium in Chapel Hill. There was a steady stream of people out there, not too long lines though (today was the first day for early voting in Orange County). I didn't see many McCain people out, but I saw a lot of Obama/Biden people out. When I turned in my ballot the electronic counter read 532 ballots processed.

No way. Someone should record this message, put it on DIGG ASAP.

A planetarium? Obviously a temple to wasteful liberal spending.

But if everyone's irrational, the entire Chicago school crumbles!

Thanks-sounds about right in terms of that 532 number. Definitely in line with everything except some of the holy cow numbers I am hearing out of Wake.

It's the third in a series.

First Two | New One

New Call said:
Hello. I'm calling for John McCain and the RNC because you need to know that Barack Obama has worked closely with domestic terrorist Bill Ayers, whose organization bombed the U.S. capitol, the Pentagon, a judge's home and killed Americans. And Democrats will enact an extreme leftist agenda if they take control of Washington. Barack Obama and his Democratic allies lack the judgment to lead our country. This call was paid for by McCain-Palin 2008 and the Republican National Committee at 202-863-8500.

Jesus, I just saw a clip of Joe the Plumber talking to the press outside his home... this guy has GOT to be a plant.
Kos just pointed out that Joe the Plumber has now had more press conferences than Sarah Palin.

Politico's got the robo-calls so far, at least the Ayers one. There's also one that just started today about Obama being a baby-killer. Good times.

Hence my postulation!

However, there's always something to fall back on re: demographics on a forum full of videogamers and that ol' standby Churchill quote.

Hells yeah!

(Or, I hurled up lunch late last night and I'm on a diet of toast and sprite. That too.)

Barack Obama says he won't raise the taxes on 95% of American families. Why my position presupposes is... maybe he will?

JayDubya: I suggest you drop the 'victim' routine, you make posts you know are going to cause a reaction given the political make-up of the GAF community and then cry foul when things escalate and you find yourself "picked on".

You are capable of debate, and generally not disruptive enough for us to worry about, so learn to drop out of threads and you'll be good & safe, if not you'll end up 'deadmeated' due to constant thread derailment.

I suggest Tea and Cookies and a good calming book, rather than further snipes. :P

What the fuck happened to mainstream news journalism? Why does it have to be Kos to report shit like this?

Everyone is so scared of being called teh biased.

Speaking of Joe. Did we post the video of him on GMA today saying he was "contacted by them and asked to show up to a rally."

didnt read all the replies, but, did it ever occur to you all that maybe he was referring to being asked to go to a McCain rally? He never said he was asked to go to a Obama rally as a plant. Yeeesh, way to jump the gun. That seems to be the thing about liberals now a days, making mountains out of mole hills.

To be fair, it was Kos linking to Andrew Sullivan making the point:P

Thanks for painting a broad brush against an entire group of people based on the actions of an individual...

Barack Obama's The Audacity of Hope? ;)

I don't think I could keep down tea or cookies, and like I said, I only haven't dropped out due to being home sick and being booooooored.

But fair enough.

More feeble attempts to get the Rainbow Pudding in FFIV DS for me, then. I'm sure it's recharged by now. Cheers!

That would neither be objectively good, nor considering the audience, calming.

Sadly, Cecil Harvey is non-eligible for the Presidency, being both fictional, and from the moon.

Are you calling me a little Eichmann!?

But rilly, folks. ~98% of the population rejects libertarianism every two years on Election Day.

That means either they're not rational, which undermines a major tenet of libertarian economic thought, or

They are rational and it is in their best interest to vote Republicrat. Neither one seems like it would be terribly appealing for you.

I think the best tack in this situation is "they are probably voting in their own self-interest, but it's still unethical for them to use the state coercion to achieve their ends."

So there's this weird McCain/RNC commercial playing here that talks about Obama's "unethical" friends, it mentions Rezko and then 2 other people that even I haven't heard of, then ties him to Harry Reid and congressional liberals. It's just a really weird commercial that doesn't seem like it would be effective.

This comment was made this morning, but I wanted to respond to it:

I don't care what party you are from...that shit is frightening. A deadlocked government is the best government. We need only look to the 90's to see that.

Not necessarily. Deadlock can also lead to inaction. A simple example would be the bills Bush vetoed that had timetables for the withdrawal of Iraq. Most people want out. Most congressmen want out. The veto pen keeps us in.

Also: Look at the reforms that FDR and the congresses he had to work with passed. That government was pretty lopsided.

Of course, yo ucan also look at Bush and the republican dominated congress for six years for counter evidence.

My point is, it doesn't really matter in terms of what gets done, but how much gets done.

I AM NOT GEORGE BUSH!
Well, he isn't. He just agrees with most of his policies and will probably continue in that vein if elected president.

That's damning enough as is.

That gallup poll looks pretty bad for obama. I wonder if it was taken right after the debate or not. Maybe the MaCcain's performance at the debate won him over some votes.
