My voter registration was mangled so badly when I lived in Wake County that my middle name was, for a brief time, LAWLS (instead of Lewis). No joke.
Data entry folks must have liked your last name.Fragamemnon said:My voter registration was mangled so badly when I lived in Wake County that my middle name was, for a brief time, LAWLS (instead of Lewis). No joke.

I really want to show my support but lets just say I live in the outskirts of Houston. Man this sucks that I actually kinda fear this.

Good article on the Ayers idiocy by a WSJ columnist who knows the guy
Slurpy said:My question is, why the hell did it take so long, and why is nobody speaking on his behalf? It seems like the guy knows tons of people.. you'd think some would choose to come out of the woodwork and defend him, state theyre friends with him, only to speak to how ridiculous the attacks of the McCain camp are. It would really soften the blows if people came out and spoke- would they all be accused of palling with a terrorist?
Indiana? WTF? I think they are hiding her at this point :lolHylianTom said:I'm watching Maddow, and I love this bit: Palin will be spending the weekend in Indiana.

Last few days I've been really keeping up with the US electoral stuff, it's crazy... it's like an awesome drama unfolding. But I've also compiled links to some scary... scary places.
This particular thread on a very religious message board makes me sad inside and all over.
And it's not just that thread, it's the entire forum, it's other websites, it's Youtube videos. I am genuinely concerned for the state of your country - I don't particularly fear for your soon-to-be presidents life or anything, I just worry about a greater divide occurring because of his election. You'll see more people being very fort-right about their racism, you'll see people trying to rationalize something they know is irrational, and you'll see the people condemning them. Seriously, I don't know what you guys are gonna do about it.
Aw well, Canada isn't too bad when it comes to that kind of crap.

Yes, I suppose it's not her fault that she's hopelessly ignorant, and wilfully ignorant (since all she had to do was read a newspaper, turn on the news, or look on the Internet to find out facts).

You know something? Obama saying that just because 98% of his friends are terrorists doesn't make him one reminds me of those shirts I see gay men wearing that say I'm not gay, my boyfriend is.
Yep, and as I said before, I'm sad that NEITHER party's supporters can keep their noses clean.Quote:
As for kill him? That was one dude, and if 4 is more than 1 then lets have another look at the 4 protesters who showed up to the rally wearing "Palin is a C***" on their shirts. What about wanting Sarah to get "gang raped in NYC"? Far worse has been said about her than has been said about Obama out of fear that they will be labeled racists, because as we all know, no black person is ever capable of racism towards white people, and "pig" is a happy in your heart type of term.

It's not hard to envision how this may play out: McCain will raise Ayers in that awkward, semi-comic manner of his, as if he's not really sure it's something he wants to be bringing up. (Possibly moderator Bob Shieffer will bring it up for him, which would help, but I suspect any comment he makes will still sound uncomfortable.) The real-time viewer response needles will nosedive, as they have almost every time McCain has attacked in the debates so far.
Obama will very reasonably respond that it's a distant association, that he was 8 years old when Ayers committed his crimes, that he deplores said crimes, etc., etc. Then he'll turn it around on McCain, pointing out that it is all very old news, and the McCain campaign didn't think it was worth discussing until it found itself in a deep electoral hole. He'll accuse McCain of trying to "change the subject" and will cite the top McCain strategist who idiotically told the Daily News, "If we keep talking about the economic crisis we'll lose." Anyone who thinks such an exchange is a win for McCain should contact me immediately, as I have a lucrative opportunity in the housing market I'd like to discuss with you.
sorry, i should qualify with a "after he learned how to lose at the hands of bobby rush, he vowed never to lose an election again. and he hasnt...."Hitokage said:Unless you're Bobby Rush.

If I were a betting man, i'd guess that Bob Schieffer has more important topics to bring-up than this. If McCain brings this up on his own, un-prompted by a question, he's going to come out of any exchange looking like an ass.

Reports obtained by The Fix detailing spending by the two campaigns as well as the Republican National Committee show that Obama dropped more than $32 million on television in 17 battleground states between Oct. 7 and Oct. 13 -- an increase of $12 million over what he spent between Sept. 30 and Oct. 6.
During that same time period, McCain spent approximately $10 million on ads in 14 states (the Arizona senator is not on television in Indiana, Michigan or Montana) while the RNC's independent expenditure effort disbursed $6 million more in eight states.

He was discussing a best-case scenario for McCain in which all of the swing-states-according-to-NBC fell to McCain, and said that McCain's ceiling was 274.. but that it was near-impossible for things to fall that way. Joe looked grim; you could read his face like a book.
It was nice seeing that blue number go past 264, if only for a moment.. :lol
It's hard to do much when you are being outspent in the state by $2.9m. Nice sample size too.Political Wire got an advance look at a new survey from Datamar in Florida that shows Sen. Barack Obama leading Sen. John McCain, 47% to 42%.
The survey has a margin of error of +/- 2.7%.
Key factor: 63% of those surveyed see the economy as the most important issue today.
