PoliGAF Interim Thread of 2008 Early Voting (THE FINAL COUNTDOWN: T MINUS 2 DAYS)

Can anyone honestly believe that an Obama administration will be different than a Bush administration? Some people would think it's for better or for worse; that's fine. But there will be "change."

I guess I forgot how cool cynicism was.

What's with all of this 'change the world' talk?

I keep hearing Obama saying that but have no idea what he means. His foreign policy isn't much different than Hillary Clinton's, it's just a sane and rational foreign policy. What is he going to do exactly? This really gets ridiculous sometimes.
It is ridiculous! Thank you for using that word, that's exactly the one I would use, too. I mean, The President of the United States is the *least* capable person of changing the world. Everyone knows that.

Why? Doesn't everyone make voting decisions based on how many calls you get from a particular candidate? Forget the issues, don't bother me on the phone even though I could easily block that number, turn down the ringer, ignore the call because I have caller id or just not answer the phone.

It isn't that hard to look through posting history genius. We figured out your routine a long time ago anyway.

Last post directed at you. You're an idiot. I've dealt with you before and made a mental note before dealing with you to keep that in mind. Just warning others. Don't deal with idiots. On that note you can carry on with the gimmick about now voting for Nader and your rage at phonecalls. You've only got two more days with it. I've done my job and I'm cool now.

Yeah, let's be clear. It's not just Typhonsentra and Stoney Mason who think you are a troll. I do too. I suspect many others do as well.

Bullshit. At this point of the game illuminati knows exactly who he's going to vote for and a gaming forum isn't about to change his mind.

I didn't say he's not capable of influencing anything in this world, my question was what the hell he's talking about when he says we're going to change the world. That's it.

It's a rhetorical device, but he's referring to his plans as President. The ones he's enumerated the past year and a half or so.

Bingo.

And the way the rest of the world views us won't change at all either.

Global warming, nuclear proliferation, increase foreign aid, use of diplomacy, etc...?

Lots of good stuff, but change the world? Please, the world will keep spinning on November 5th if McCain wins, it's just America that would be fucked.

I for one am glad that Obama has so many volunteers hitting the phones that some dumbass can get so worked up about it. "Oh man! I am going straight to the internet and let those people know what for!" *shakes puny fist at overwhelming Obama Hordes*

Change the world is not a binary option only where things are either hell or heaven that Republicans keep trying to position it as. Working to improve American and global situations and put them in a different situation or best case better position is indeed changing the world.

Yes, the world will change when a lot more people view the US faborably in those Gallup polls. That's right folks, world peace is within reach. All our problems could be solved. Let's just make America popular again! :lol

Again, this is a positive thing, but it will only change how the world views America - not change the world.

I don't get upset easily, so I wonder what other people in the state, or maybe just the philly area, feel about getting bombarded by phone calls and people knocking on the door constantly. I'm sure they are not getting any pleasure for getting bombarded non-stop.

A note about the tracking polls: TMP's daily average of them inched up again today.

Adding these polls together and weighting them by the square roots of their sample sizes, Obama is ahead 51.5%-44.2%, a lead of 7.3 points, compared to the 51.2%-44.1% Obama lead from yesterday. Counting today, Obama's lead has increased by small amounts in the last four consecutive Composites.
teh tightening

Nice strawman.

A different stance on global warming will change the world. Different diplomacy will as well. As to how much it will change the world, that's anyone's guess.

George Bush changed the world, so it's not hard to see how a different president will as well.

what the fuck are you talking about? "changing the world" somehow now means making everything perfect? Jesus fucking christ.

we will find out on Tuesday! I am terrified that you represent a significant shift in the population.

I'm glad you made up my decision.

You should be removed from the list of people most called if you tell them who you're going to vote for. It's kind of like polling. If you keep saying "It's none of your business!" you are in the database as an undecided voter.

Timedog said:

The funny thing is either way it's moot. If you don't believe he can change the world then it doesn't really matter and a person can safely ignore that bit. The same way as when McCain says he will follow Bin Laden to the gates of hell or use any of the many rhetorical pitches he does with "Joe the Plumber" and "Country First".

I'm in PA. Got a million calls today from Obama, some from McCain.

If a call is enough to alter your vote in the negative when policy issues such as health care, the war in Iraq and energy are on the table... then...

...this is one of the cases where the label "idiot" might actually apply, and not be an insult. It might simply just be the correct label for a person who would reject the issues of the day for phonecall annoyances.

reilo said:
Not only is Obama polling 50%+ in PA

For srs, people. Any state that Obama is polling at 51% right now is not going to flip, end of story. McCain's whole game at this point is for "undecided" voters to turn out and vote for him.

im scared for PA :(

As I said in a previous post I tried that tactic all last month when I told them I was voting for both Obama and McCain, but they refuse to stop.

Umm...I'm not implying that Obama's magically Presidency will end famine and bring about world peace but having a CIC that the rest of the world respects/likes is definitely a step in the right direction.

Perhaps if, no when, there is another international incident, the world won't be so willing to sit on their hands.

If our policy changed from, "fuck you if you're not with us, we're going" into a better used diplomacy effort, then we could, I don't know, get the re-enforcement from our Allies that we need.

In my opinion, that qualifies as "change to the world."

Why does him digging up your old posts to show that you are full of shit mean that he cares about who you vote for? Are you retarded or something? Why do you think anyone here should be able to tell when you are being serious and when you are not? Get over yourself.

Obama got Pennsylvania, there is zero doubt about that. He's gonna blow this motherfucker out.
Seriously. The hand-wringing over PA is simply because it's the one and only path McCain has to win. Since that's his only route, people are freaking out over it. :lol

Looks like the number of undecideds is dropping pretty quick. Pollster's composite nationally has both Obama and McCain rising at the same level for the past few days, dropping the undecideds a few points.

If anyone believes that the Bush administration hasn't at least impacted the entire world for the worse, then you have been gleefully ignorant of your surroundings.
