Ever heard of the Greeks? The Golden Mean. In my life experience, that rule has held up very well in almost every occasion and hasn't failed me when it comes to pidgeonholing people and their political views.
In a democratic society, it is in middle is where ideas get mixed, discussed, thrown out and reformed.
And based on your response, you already think of yourself as an extremist with a 'right idea' on everything and a ready, ideologically based solution. That strikes me as rather naive. Sorry if you're insulted, it wasn't my intention. I think people like you serve a purpose as agents that bring the 'pure' form of an ideal to the populus, but don't expect to be taken seriously.
When in reality I'm rather pragmatic in my views. What works concerns me just as much if not far more than what is to be considered "ideal". As far as this quiz is concerned, what pushes me to the left is the observation that people in positions of economic power(companies, corporations) cannot be trusted any more than those in political power, and as such checks and balances are necessary to prevent corruption, waste, and harm... and that furthermore the free market has shown itself as a limited answer to this need(although, as the sole direct voice of the public's wishes in a capitalistic system, it should be kept as healthy as possible). As for social issues, let's just say that as a person who has exercised his religious freedom, I'd rather not have it taken away or infringed. I don't believe in party loyalty and I voted democrat only because it was the best means of expressing my wishes.
I will admit that it may not look like I take the time to consider issues, because it's easier to sick back and take shots at stuff that does half the work for me.

I don't see how anyone can be so extreme. I look at each question and consider all of the possible situations, and I find it hard to take extremes.
One of the questions I remember taking an extreme one is "blind patriotism is a bad thing" or something to those lines. That's always true. It can never help. So I strongly agreed.
But other questions like "someone can be able to deny that the holocaust never happened because that's their right" I gave an agree, because that's freedom of speech. But I didn't give it a strongly because while we have freedom of speech, atrocities such as that should not be ingored.
This test was better than the other one, but it didn't touch small government/small taxes, homosexual rights, etc. I believe that I'm more socially liberal and more economically conservative.
