It's possible that the PS4 version looked somewhat sharper, but that may have just been my imagination after confirming the hard resolution difference.
No, because Polygon has already proven that it´s a cesspool filled with shills and generally untrustworthy people.
Its difficult to appreciate the variation between current-gen and next-gen in TV commercials or a browser window, but up close and personal, the difference is drastic. Whereas the current-gen versions look muddy with blotchy textures, characters, weapon models, and environments are presented in vivid detail on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The Call of Duty engine fares surprisingly well on next-gen, but even then Ghosts lacks a lot of the added atmospheric effects and visual panache that makes competing games look so realistic. Im eager to see what a future Call of Duty looks like when maintaining 60 frames-per-second on current-gen is no longer a concern.
When comparing the PS4 and Xbox One versions side-by-side, theres little to no variation in textures and effects, but there is a discernible difference in resolution. While both are displayed at 1080p, the Xbox One version upscales the game from 720p resolution. In contrast, the PS4 version runs natively at 1080p, which makes character models, weapons, and environments look noticeably sharper and more detailed. The difference is especially apparent on larger-sized TVs, where pixel density weighs more heavily in picture quality.
I don't get shit like this. Polygon is providing better content, information, and reviews than I have seen in years. They actually review shit in length and aren't afraid to give lower scores. It's refreshing to see honestly. What did they do wrong here? Are you suggesting the score is too high or low? You think they should be bashing Xbox One no matter what? You are mad they couldn't tell a difference between the 2 versions? Oh, you guys have all seen them in person? Where are your reviews?
COD resolutiongate has been such a rollercoaster. I'm going to miss it when the dust settles.
BF3 Xbox one - lower framerate and lower resolution than PS4 version = same score as PS4 version.
Ghosts Xbox one - better framerate and lower resolution than PS4 version = higher score than PS4 version.
Hmm.
I have no issue with the framerate being better on Xbox one (and to me that would make it a slightly better version), but at least use the same logic across other reviews.
When looking at the game side by side, and you cannot tell the difference how is that wrong? That seems like a legitimate test to me. 1080p is better for sure, but if you really can't tell the difference between the two versions of the game, why would the one with better framerate (in a game that lives and dies on framerate) not score better?
People just want to hate because it's Polygon, even though other outlets have said similar.
I am wondering how Polygon's eyes can be so discerning on the visuals when IGN (who I am no big fan of ) has this to say :
You know what, every xbone game can snap TV, watching TV and playing COD together already worth 3 more extra points. COD on Xbone should score perfect 10.
From now on, every game on Xbone should add 3 points
Do you know who Arthur Gies is or what Polygon's history is?
This comes from their origins (funded by MS).
They will always be biased in the eyes of a lot of people.
That said, this is unnaceptable, man:
It's ridiculous. You either saw a difference or you didn't. You can't say that maybe it was your imagination.
So the review text doesn't reflect the score?
Colour me surprised!
It's not about PS4 it's about polygon look at this mess
Gies is great. I seen him be critical of everything and providing context and information. I've been following him since Polygon's launch. I have no idea why people hate on him so much.
Just because Polygon received funding from Microsoft doesn't mean they have no credibility. That is ridiculous to write them off based on this. Microsoft is a large company and does more than just Xbox. Do you have evidence that they have skewed their news and coverage towards Xbox? I have seen no such thing. I have seen them be open and critical of both. Gies specifically has been critical of Xbox on Twitter. To suggest a .5 difference is them favoring Microsoft is bat shit fucking ridiculous. If that was the case we should have seen a score in the 9s.
And no, I fucking despise Fox News.

Exactly, the game is a pile of garbage on every platform. Console warriors taking this battle up like it means something for either platform is laughable. Save this shit for another day.
I hope it gets patched.
Who gives a shit? Really people, get over your holier than thou bs.
So higher framerate = 0.5, So why PC version got 6.5?
BF4 was objectively proven to have better framerate 3-4 fps on the PS4 along with higher resolution, yet they scored both versions the same. Where is your god now? That's simply ridiculous. Until they show bias in some major way, that accusation is bullshit.

Look at score for BF4. In that case PS4 has both better frame rate and resolution.
