But this wastes potentially good movesets, ruins the possibility of good assists from playable characters, ruins the possibility of stuff like happy birthdays, and will make the fans of those characters complain even more than if the character was just excluded.

So why

I can't already see the "Capcom betrayed us" posts if there's a MvC that's 2v2 and has no Wolverine.

Meant to say 'aren't' using the slot as a dump for previously playable characters.

However, I don't think a game need to have everything, including movesets, that a prior game in the series had. I'm completely open to new characters being introduced and growing from there. And if the rumor is true that MvC3 is getting a remaster, potentially even a port + patch, then I am completely down for them changing up the series and focusing on newer characters here. In fact, the idea that a UMvC3 port is being teased has me thinking the 2v2+A rumor is indeed very much true.

We're not even sure what this 2v2 and 1 assist thing means. What do they mean by 1 assist?

Do they mean the third character is a 1 assist-only character?
Does it mean that that each of the 2 characters has 1 assist?
Does it mean that the third character is purely an assist character that you can't swap to but can have more than 1 assist?

Who really knows.

I keep wanting to find a way to convince Capcom and Nintendo to do a Nintendo vs Capcom. It would be glorious.

As for MvC4 though, I'm quite excited that the franchise isn't dead like I thought it was. I can live without X characters since there are plenty of Marvel characters that would be more interesting to use.

Also, jokes aside, Medusa would be a pretty awesome character to play.

like mvc1 where u have a dedicated or other vs games before when you can call your 2nd character as an assist

I think everyone would rather have hopes and dreams than Mega Man-colored blue balls

I mean, you can still have a character who is an assist slot still be a fully playable characters. Not all assists would be fully playable, but all fully playable could potentially be an assist slot. That way, the hope+dream of your favorite character still making it in at some point can continue, while they get to add in whatever obscure character/reference from the larger pantheon.

I don't mind 2v2, but I'll be dead if Regina is an assist . I know for us more casual to mid level players, that's our biggest concern. Getting your most requested character as an assist is so sad.

UMvC3 Remastered was hinted at being a thing by Polygon. Not sure about MvC2 or MvCO.

I could see a port of MVC3 and 1&2 at least being avaible again on their services. Xbox side they just make them BC and PS4 I guess they could add to the PSNow service

Because you use cheap touch of death bullshit

Play a honourable team like Wolverine/Doom/Vergil

I actually use Joe/Frank/Raccoon lol

But the guy said I was cheating because I was looking at his stick when doing TACs. I mean, the shit is right there out in the open. Why WOULDN'T I look?

Guess we'll have to wait for the first trailer. If there's no sign of Wolverine, then we might be in trouble. Not sure how I feel about 2v2 though. I'd prefer 3v3, but I can imagine them using 2v2 + assist as a way to squeeze in as many cameos as possible ala MvC1.

Also, I'd totally end up rebuying a UMvC3 port. Wonder if there's something in store for 2/Origins as well...

Please correct me if I am wrong. Are these the rumors?

2vs2?
1 assist?
No more mutants?
MCU?
Niitsuma not involved?
developed by west studio? maybe Iron Galaxy?

It does. Ports keep games in the public consciousness, though, and there's also the whole legality issues that come with roms. The Saturn version is the only way to legitimately own the game without investing in an arcade cabinet.

I just prefer legit versions. PC Emulators never run well for me. Dunno if I'm doing it wrong or what, but I always feel lots of lag even playing local for old 2D games on emulator.

TvC would've been a better game if it didn't have the unfortunate tumor of NINTENDO HARDWARE AND NINTENDO ONLINE glued onto it

Fixed that for you. Anime had nothing to do with it. It was on a system with ass tier sticks. Both the Hori and Madcatz sticks sucked and needed modding to be good. Today most just play with a converter after putting a PCB into a quality PS3 or 360 stick to get good responsiveness. The other problem was that online was very new and experimental at the time. The Wii just wasn't up to snuff. It was even worse than MVC3 online. Didn't help that its training mode and movelist in game were so thread bare that they didn't help new players. Hell the movelist was actually MISSING major chunks in game.

TVC was a prototype. Its highly suspected that it was built upon a heavily modded version of the engine Eighting had used on PSP and Wii for the Kamen Rider and Bleach fighting games since repurposed assets are visible in it. This explains why they say it'd never receive a port since it'd largely have to be rebuilt from scratch to make things run the same and with the same timings.

2v2 & 1 assist slot is a huge rumor, but we don't really have any more meat to it than that. There are things you can infer that support that direction (UMvC3 port potentially coming in the same year as 4) but thats all conjecture.

No More Mutants/MCU focus at launch is a logical extension of the Fox character suppression Marvel has been doing in several of the media outlets they have controlled for years now. Neoxon can break it down for ya even further if you want. Having them focus on characters Marvel does retain the film rights for does open the door for several interesting characters, but we also have a famed leaker from the UMvC3 days hinting that this notion, which was backed up by Polygon, may not be entirely true. Current Lupinko hints include Gambit, Cable, Cyclops, Wolverine Magneto.

Niitsuma tweeted in July that he was not working on Marvel 4. However, keep in mind that Capcom has lied about things they are working on in the past in order to maintain a surprise announcement. Niitsuma may very well not be working on it though, which would mean he wasn't lying.

The Western Studio bit is just speculation. A discord chat mocking people who believe rumors was where the Iron Galaxy rumor came from, so this is almost assuredly not true.

Some have argued that they don't mind catering to existing fans, but they don't want to make new fans. Also keep in mind that if the ban ends up impacting MvC4, it was likely because the license was regained while the ban was in full swing (hence why I'm hoping for a renegotiation to occur for DLC if the worst-case scenario happens for the base roster). If Capcom manages to dodge the bullet, then they must have better negotiators than I gave them credit for.

I get it, it's business after all...
Yeah, maybe Capcom achieved a miracle and persuaded Marvel on this matter or maybe not lol
Well, as I have said earlier, we'll know in a few days.

The logic is it's better to invest resources in characters that returns across the most mediums than invest resources in characters that only return on a few. Marvel gets more returns from properties that they have full rights to (movies, comics, tv shows, merch, etc) than from those they only have partial rights to. It's not just them being dicks, it's them being a business (which goes hand in hand with being dickish).

We still don't know for sure that no Xmen are in btw. That was an initial rumor that was walked back. I think there will be fewer Xmen characters but likely at least a few will return. My bets would be on Magneto and then some incarnation of wolverine (either modern X-23 Wolvie or Old Man Logan).

I understand a little more now, but they shouldn't need to be so harsh about it.
Let's hope for some X-Men reps
