Popeyes to debut new Ghost Pepper Wings for limited time starting Jan 2015

I really don't like this PR trend. First it was naming everything Jalapeno back in the 90's. Then we moved to naming everything Habanero in the 00's. Now it looks like we're ready to start naming everything Ghost Pepper.

Meanwhile, not a damn bit of it is hotter than a Jalapeno, if it's even half-way to that.

Why do people like super spicy food?

Do they enjoy inferno poops?

Believe it or not, not everyone has a weak stomach with low pain tolerance.

Once regarded as the world's hottest pepper (it's now in third place), the ghost pepper measures over 1 million Scoville heat units, or a little over 900 times hotter than Tabasco sauce.

Boneless wings are great.

I guarantee these won't even be spicy, though.

Corporate America would never allow such a thing

I was in Vancouver and I went to granville island and I saw a shop there selling dried ghost peppers. Haven't seen anywhere that has them in Calgary so I'm wishing I'd bought more. I put them on or in everything. Every curry or chili can be improved by the addition of at least 3 or 4 ghost peppers.

I'm sure these are going to be incredibly mild otherwise how would they sell any?

err, what. that's, like, completely normal.

If you have irritable bowel syndrome, then I can understand the issue with something that registers above 0 on the scoville scale.

But I haven't seen a consensus on the reaction to eating something spicy. Personal anecdotes aside.

Damn it that sounds awesome but I cant do it anymore.

I love spicy food but the problem is that for years I kept escalating in intensity and in frequency until it got to the point where it seems I messed up my insides. Now if I eat so much as too many jalapenos I will have bad intestine cramps for a few hours and then the most horrible diarrhea.

I shot people I like more for less.
Saw that they had this when I was at Popeyes earlier. Did not investigate further.

So is it available now? The title says "starting Jan 2015" but the article says "through Jan. 25th". So is it Jan 1st-25th?

I had these tonight. They were good, but I can't really comment on how spicy they were since I'm someone that eats an inordinate amount of spicy food. Even considering that they seemed pretty mild, though.

I tricked a friend into eating a Habanero pepper without telling him what it was. The results were glorious.

I'd ate one earlier that day and holy crap it was bad.

Spoiler tags, you FUCK.

Kind of a bummer. Definitely less enticed now. Still, I think their hot wings are already one of the better for the chains. Decent flavor.
LOL, it's good though and the deal is nice

Yeah, they were still good, but really the spicy might as well have been nonexistent. Didn't faze me at all. I do eat a lot of spicy food though as well.

My stomach is fine. My anus though, youre right it doesnt have much tolerance. Thank god I have a bidet.

I'd go with a doctor over a bidet. That's not normal.

Failing that, you should definitely stay away from spicy foods if you've got significant enough physical impairments that it causes pain in your digestive system. To be safe, you'll probably want to avoid discussions on spicy food, too. Wouldn't want you to have a fainting spell or something.

I hate Popeye's current spicy chicken because it ruins the great flavor out of the original recipe. That said I'll give this a try. I do like spicy food if the flavor is on point.

I love that we have a weekly Popeyes thread.
The world needs to recognize the best fast* food chain

* every Popeye's I've ever been to has made me wait five or eight minutes for my food. But its always worth it.

Are you guys trolling or something. I havent met anyone that didnt complain about a burning butthole after really spicy food.

Honestly mine doesn't burn, maybe yall aren't washing your hands and your finger is tearing through the tissue going into you asshole which causes it to burn

There's Popeyes in Canada? East Canada I assume?

Isn't Popeye's an international chain now? Are you telling me people in BC or AB don't have Popeye's?

As for me, spicy food burns both my mouth and my ass. Well, the latter depends. Chillis burn my ass like they're supposed to, it's completely normal. Spices don't do anything to my ass, they more burn my nose, lips and neck. I still love me some spicy food. The fire is part of the experience.

Where does the connection come from that eating spicy food makes you spouts fiery lava out of your ass?

I feel if those are the symptoms you are experiencing, you should see a doctor right away.

I at most get a little heart burn, snot nose and fiery belches. But thats from eating like habanero or higher.

I've never had this happen either.

Maybe I'm just not eating spicy enough food.
I'll admit I don't "challenge" myself in that regard.
But, still...

Wonder how these'll compare to mighty wings. They were unexpectedly spicy.

Yes they're selling them now. No they're not good. I went there for these after seeing this thread. Overrated as all hell. If you're looking for spicy, this won't do it for you. Sorry Gaf!
