hm the alber slows down with/after Promise. The big bops are in the first half, but she has a nice balance of slow songs at the end
(i'm going to pretend Gon B Alright doesn't exist >_>)

I think Well Traveled is kinda like her good bye to us, like she's moving on with the rest of her life.
I love Dammn Baby, The Great Forever, Shoulda Known Better, Night...I love all of it. It's so eclectic.

Overall I'll give Unbreakable ; 8.5/10. I was kind of surprised in a good way by the lack of extremely short interludes between the tracklist. Janet's an expert at creating cohesive material with or without them. It's a bit more pop than R&B, but the production doesn't sound outdated. There were a few tracks that didn't really capture me but overall it was a great sign to let us know that Janet is back.

Even though it's a shame what happened, in a way I feel it was for the better since both Dawn and dumblonde went on to make good music.

I also agree about dumblonde - I expected something sub-par without Dawn's involvement, but their release proves she wasn't the sole creative force in DK.

Cheek 2 Cheek is like the Vita un-numbered offshoot of the original canon. It don't count, though it is a great off-shoot.

I haven't listened to the song yet but I'm imagining it will destroy my life in a bit

Cheek 2 Cheek was catering to a completely different market (older people) tho. And let's not deny Tony Bennett his power. Sure there will be overlap but the average person who bought it will not be the average person who buys a Gaga pop album especially after ARTPOOP.

Tony Bennett is iconic, both Duets albums
the Viva Duets is not really that good but I enjoyed it, YMMV ofc
are a must listen tbh

Anyway, Cheek 2 Cheek was not that great. Mostly because the music was borderline uninspired and I really really really hated those terrible newspapers illustrations used for the singles / album... Ugh.

Get into the superior Tony Bennett collaboration with, RIP, Amy Winehouse Body and Soul.

It's still new Gaga tho. She sings on the track. Like Lana's cover of Once Upon A Dream was still "new Lana"

Gaga's cover is super interesting to me cus it's the first time we've heard her vocals on a pop song since she started singing differently (TIHTY doesn't count as that was Dope-esque in going for a specific sound). It sounds different but like her at the same time. Love it tbh
