it is disappointing yes. it's a mix of not having a good lead single and damage of born this way in my opinion.

1) No well-timed single to usher in the album. Applause went past its effective date in November.
2) Not enough promotion directly pre-album ala Born This Way
3) Leftover saturation from Born This Way's more scathing artistic decisions. lol

Bottom line: Where's the big hit single? There's still opportunity for DWUW to end up smashing but it's proving to be a slow cooker. The SNL performance didn't help it, and all that's left to give it a push is a music video and the AMA performance. Two big opportunities but if those don't start the snowball effect then she'll have to move on to a third single. Just get Gypsy out there girl!
