Nothing beats classic Atari 2600
I love Haven's box art a great deal. Too bad the physical game is getting pricey since it only got a release through LRG.
I have a few other favorites as well which I'll be posting a bit latter when I have the time.
That one is pure gold to my eyesAnything published by Nintendo. Here are a couple of my favorites, but I could have picked anything.
The GBA had some wicked box art but it's such a shame it's ruined by that shitty 'Gameboy advanced' down the side..Big fan of the late 90s/early 2000s SNK art posted above, as well as the Calstlevania artist from SOTN onwards - Aria of Sorrow being a great example.
Came to post it, those are real art. Specially of the first games.Nothing beats classic Atari 2600
That 16-bit box art was fantastic. Konami at its best.I'll go first: Super Castlevania IV
I love this one. Super atmospheric, just like the game. Lots of foreshadowing regarding the environments and villains. Dripping with detail, like most of Tom Dubois' other works for Konami in the '80s and '90s. It's just like what I imagined the game world would be like in my 7-year-old mind. I even commissioned a shadowbox of this one.
Honorable mention to Contra III: The Alien Wars, another incredible cover by Dubois.
What about you, GAF? What's your favorite videogame box art/cover and why?
Some of the 80s and early 90s stuff was wild. I loved their use of air brushing, too.Modern box art does nothing for me really. The best time for box art was 80/90's. Some of it was pure art
Maybe not 90's but I loved the Vietcong box art. It captured the Vietnam vibe well..
I used to have a full sized poster of this back in the 90s. This, my cypress hill, my wutang logo poster and tony Montana poster la pretty much sums up my youth. Ah the memories!
That reminds me, I really dug the Resident Evil: Deadly Silence Japanese boxart.
Very strategically placed company logo there.
I’m disappointed this wasn’t the first reply.
This one really let's you know what you're in for upfront. Also another one that's up there is Demon's Souls original PS3 boxart for Asia.
This might be it, it’s fantasticReally love this
No DOS and Amiga games boxes? iamdisappoint.jpg
What actually is this? Why 2 discs? Why a later model? Is it a fan art or something actually released?
