What's new?
It's thinner.
You know those sturdy ubiquitous headphone jacks, this is the opposite. Amazing right!
You know what else is amazing, 16GB of storage in 2016.

Yeah, this.Feel like the source is wrong and there is a higher chance headphones will be bluetooth and use the lightning port for charging
But I could be the one wrong since I'm just speculating
Agreed. At first i was appalled but if they make lightning cables that are adapatable with my ie8s I'll be fine. Detachable earbuds were the greatest things i ever bought as all my headphones previous always had an issue with the cable prior.
buy a headphone brand, remove the headphone jack. brilliant.

Yeah, it was also rumored for the iPhone 6 but it never happened obviously. This has been rumored for awhile now.

The moment they replaced the iMac keyboard with that god-awful "butterfly" design already brought them into parody territory.Terrible idea. Apple's obsession with thinness is becoming parody now.

This has been a rumor for a long time and I doubt it'll happen. All this would do is piss off consumers that own a variety of headsets and force them to buy bulky conversion dongles.
I just don't see it happening.

Sounds cool. Will happen on all phones eventually.
Sounds like a piece of shit. I don't understand why people spend more money to have a device that does less.
Jony Ive's unchecked, single-minded obsessions are worse than even Forstall's infamous self-indulgences of yore. The iPhone 6/6 Plus are already one of the worst feeling phones because of how thin, slippery, and hard to hold it is. Why make it even thinner? Who's even asking for that?
Nope, it was just a badly designed recessed headphone port, so the fatter jacks needed a extender dongle to work.Didn't the first iPhone have a unique, or rare, headphone jack?
I've got some bad news for you.I'm onboard if:
1. There are benefits beyond a thinner profile.
2. Adapters for existing headphones and headsets are cheap and widely available.
What is with this obsession with thinness? How about improving the battery?

Oh okay. I remember my mom getting an adapter when she had it.Lol, wouldn't be surprised

Behold the revolutionary design:Oh okay. I remember my mom getting an adapter when she had it.
Ah, I totally forgot the battery capacity. I guess it will keep on decreasing then. 2915 mAh > 2750 mAh > ???
Nice to see Apple finally catching up to Nintendo on hardware design.
They'll be attached to the wall for easy access. In the future, phones won't have batteries. You just leave them connected to the charger units all the time to use them.
Actually, that's more or less how most people I know use small iPhones already. Only the Plus versions have batteries which can last a whole day.
I find it difficult to get upset about something that hasn't actually happened.
Apple patented a smaller 'D' shaped headphone jack earlier this year. They defiantly seem interested in getting rid of the inefficient port.
