Pragmata |OT| Tactical Hacking Action

I'm about 5 hours in or so and I'm really enjoying it. I think this game would be a full tier worse than it is if this wasn't an interconnected area where you could return to previous areas and all linked to a "safe room" hub. If this was just a linear area to area until you beat it kinda game, it would really hurt the experience. They did good deciding to structure it this way. And combat is a ton of fun and I just love sci fi settings.

Deciding between Critical Shot and Fast Moves for my ability. Any recommendation?

Fast Moves is SUPER strict

Critical Shot

So about an hour into this game just kind of feeling it out liking it so far just like the demo. Gameplay feels good. Finally made it back to the main area to upgrade a little bit and I'm confused about one thing in the weapons section it says press X to print or upgrade but when I start pressing X it wants you to hold it down and I feel like it's going to print another one but I already have one. Or is it that both of those things happen at the same time? I want to upgrade the weapon.

The first tier upgrade at the terminal makes an unlimited number of prints of that weapon/hack available at the departure gate

Subsequent tiers permanently power that same weapon/hack up

About 8 hours and 57% completion. I'm having a blast. Played remotely and then back on the Pro. I don't want to stop playing it. Makes me wish they'd just give Capcom the Dead Space IP.

Are there any games that this is comparable to? Asking out of curiosity. You guys are making this hard not to buy 😂 Someone mentioned Binary Domain and those are the vibes I've always gotten from seeing it.
PSO1 without the Loot Farming but added light puzzle platforming. You really just farm the one main currency as you progress and locate premium currency pickups for upgrades.

Action Roguelite elements are present with the small upgrades and what factors in as a gear/loadout system but with none of the fatigue of being one.

I would just buy it. It's fun.

Paasei Paasei Would not compare to Resident Evil. Two different genres. And Pragmata actually has boss fights. 🤷‍♂️

It shares some elements with Resident Evil and what do you mean it has boss fights? Resident Evil has boss fights. Perhaps Requiem barely had any but on a whole the series most definitely has boss fights. Not sure what kind of statement that is.

Okay I have got 100% in every area and ready to move to Central Port. I unlocked a cool blue suit that goes well with Diana's jacket lol. So far I still love the game, the single player is really well balanced including the red rooms. I am kind of surprised how fast I have become with the hacking and even blending my moving and shooting with the hacking at the same time. I've also gotten better at selecting the right weapons and hacks for the right enemies to handle things efficiently and it is really satisfying when you handle a big crowd well.

Playing the higher difficulty training simulations, though… I think it needs some work before it can be a full on action game rather than the moderated tactical style the story works around. He stumbles/continues too much coming out of a run or landing, he is SLOW AF switching weapons and getting in/out of weapon readiness or climbing things, the weapons themselves don't have clear enough reticles or audio feedback, etc, etc. Basically it is just not snappy enough to justify ramping up the action and platforming and putting on strict limitations like the training levels do. I think if they took counsel with the DMC team they could get it there, but it isn't there. I don't think I will bother much with the higher training simulations because they are just frustrating with stupid little things not being responsive enough and tripping up the connection between what I want to do and what happens.

How are you going to aim, move around etc. If the hacking was on the d-pad. Controls are perfectly fine as they are. Just remap the buttons/keys if you're so inclined.
You're right you wouldn't be able to move, or more importantly direct your thruster escape. As-is you can't aim while hacking.

Okay I am trying the training simulation for the rocket launcher and the lock on system for this thing is OUTRAGEOUSLY BAD

I have restarted this over and over and I can't figure out what in the fuck the thing is doing. It beeps and makes a graphic on them but then that isn't a lock. You push and hold the trigger and it seems like that is supposed to load missiles into a lock but it just straight up doesn't half the time. It seems unbalanced in the amount of missiles it loads to different enemies, and it seems to completely let go of a lock that it already loaded onto some.

This might be the only training mission I just leave undone because this weapon is hot trash. I have never seen a worse missile weapon in any game.
Getting the perfect on that challenge is quite doable just hitting one at a time, the rocket launcher seems to reload-ready and fire again sooner if you fire less rockets so it's not such a big gain chaining loads of lock-ons. It might be you can only lock-on to extra targets within the big aiming square after the first lock-on without losing earlier locks but I've not tested it.

DownLikeBCPowder DownLikeBCPowder Given the comparison right now is towards Requiem, Pragmata actually having boss fights is a plus. I'm not seeing the Resident Evil elements present in Pragmata other then you shoot guns....which is in a lot of games.

Wesker is alive in this universe lol. He has his own production company.

Oh btw, my 1st playtrough was 20h. But I did everything there was.

Played some more today. Steam says I've played ~9 hours so far, but my ingame save claims only 7,5 hours, which is weird.

I've beaten the third area now and while the boss was cool, the city boss still is my highlight so far.
Glad to see I'm not the only one annoyed by the training missions, some of them just don't work well with the way Hugh moves and it's so frustrating if you want to get the crown on all of them.

Other than that, I'm still having a great time, unlocking more and more tools to deal with the enemies and moving on with the story.

Made it to the second area so really the first area is pretty much the demo seems like within reason and I'm really enjoying it, liking the upgrades and all of that stuff the treadmill for that is enjoyable something to look forward to always and some decisions to make at least for now.

I do Wonder though it says I haven't unlocked everything in the first area my initial instinct is to go back and try to unlock everything but I remember seeing those barriers I could not pass and wonder if the unlockables I missed are behind those barriers and therefore a place I can't get to right now. Is that correct?

so what is the 'real' length of the game realistically now that GAF'ers have it in hands?
I'm at 7h25' and just beat the third boss. There's at least 2 more areas after this, and I've only been able to 100% the first area so far, because you need upgrades to clear area 2 and 3 that I don't have yet. I'm taking my time, not rushing things, and I'm doing the optional challenges when they become available. So I guess 12 hours could be my final time when all is said and done, perhaps more.

That's correct. You're not going to 100% an area the first time through it.

Really digging this game. Nice change of pace from Crimson Desert as good as that game is.

There's just enough platforming and exploration and optional elements to keep things interesting and keep me looking all over everywhere I go.

Beat it, 100% the first run with 3* all trials, took 14h. I'll chill with impressions until I beat the hardest difficulty

As a long time father of now mostly adults, this game looks amazing. Won't have time for it for a few months, but I'm happy to see it turned out so good. Got it downloaded just to support.

Man I just got throgh terra core

I did not expect those invis-bots. Got hugged so many times lol. I started being paranoid of any dark room

Finished the game today.

Holy shit, it was good. The gameplay held together so well by the end of it. I did all the VR missions and fuck, some were hard.

Now to hit that Lunatic difficulty and the Unknown Signal mode.

I can only imagine how hard some sections can get on Lunatic. And good thing there are more upgrades and weapons for NG+.

Got and upgraded an autohack for Diana. At first I was like, This makes it all pointless. Then I realized It takes away from Diana's hack meter that builds up.
So I can either use the auto hack or go back to using sticky bombs that make the hack grid smaller. Choices choices, Now I got bots in my face.

Took me 20 hours to finish the game (100% collectibles, all VR missions and interacted with Diana often in the Shelter). I basically did everything there was to do.

I had a good time, the core combat is well thought out and novel, even though it has a few blemishes that prevents it from being truly excellent. The game plays extremely smoothly on M&K, you are going to weave hacking, movement and shooting like it's second nature in no time.

Even by keeping the suit at level 1 for the entire playthrough, it was mostly a cakewalk. And it's not a matter of damage received/dealt, but of encounter design. Aside from a few good challenging rooms, the rest were run-of-the-mill encounters with not a lot of creativity put into them. They should have tuned the enemy composition in such a way that heavy pressure can be felt when managing both the hacking and the movement/shooting, but it didn't happen often. Most of the arenas were dull, but there were a few in which environmental hazards kept things interesting.

The game also suffers due to it's light exploration structure with backtracking which pads things out. I didn't care much for that part, it felt completely superfluous but I had to engage with it since I didn't want to miss upgrade materials. This game should have been structured like a pure action game, it would have been so much better and in that way they could have focused on creating interesting enemy encounters and arenas instead of wasting resources on the collectibles/exploration aspect, which is really weak. Additional set-pieces like the one after the final boss would have been appreciated, not as extreme as that of course but the game is missing some spice there.

The story was predictable but I don't consider that a negative, it does it's job well and the interactions with Diana were cute. The final section and the ending were great.

There is some additional content after you finish the game, but I'm not gonna bother since I got my fill.

I will be there for a possible sequel for sure, I just hope the tighten things up though. With some changes in the right direction it could become an all time great.

EDIT: And I would like to re-iterate that Capcom should get critiqued far more harshly for nerfing the raster and raytraced render in favour of a half-assed PT implementation. The reflections are amazing but everything else is not up to par, the raytracing render should look way better at least.

I legit cracked up when she said "but you're always like what the hell is this!? so I thought you'd be interested?"

Over 120+ hours between God of War 18 and Ragnarok and I already care more about Diana than Atreus in only 2. Capcom nailed the childhood curiosity aspect here so hard that I can't help but wonder where these 200 million dollar budget games go so wrong.

Loving this so far, but wish I bought it on PS5 Pro, my 4090 is loud and hot with Path tracing on, and I've had a few crashes and had to tweak my undervolt as it obviously pushed it harder than anything i've ever thrown at it before has.
