Pragmata - Reviews Thread

I think i'll buy it as its pretty cheap on key sites.
still hate the hacking gimmick but there will be trainers that bypass it or auto complete it, which i will use lol.

Why pay the money for a PC just to play stuff that's Chromebook tier in terms of power required, like Slay The Spire 2, and not experience everything your machine could do with AAA titles like Pragmata.

Who the hell actually wants 200 hours of Assassins Creed?
-Who does that??

-Me. I have 200+ hours in AC Origins and Odyssey.

I have it preordered on Amazon. Will probably ship late, but I'll have Crimson Desert to cover for me.

Pre-ordered it. My gaming diet recently is 95% indie and emulation.
I need some new games which actually put my 2k PC though its paces and uses the Deee-ehl-ESSSESS stuff.
Same here- my 5070ti basically plays indies and emulated PS2 games lately so this will be a welcome addition! I pre ordered it on Steam and I'm really looking forward to it! Enjoyed the demo and hoping the full game is as good as what the demo promised.

Yeah. The samurai outfits are pretty kick ass. I am glad they are a pre-order bonus.
I kind of suspect they are really the intended outfits for the game.

i don't know, there's something just so 'too adorable!' about this game (& that's coming from a huge haruka fan). between that element, & the hacking, i'll be waiting for a sale at least...

Sweet, I've gone and preordered it. Demo was pretty good but I wanted the reviews to confirm that it was likely gonna be a good game.

Pragmata and saros sci fi combo back to back will be fun for me. Pragmata mood and setting reminds me of stellar blade and a bit of bioshock. I like it. I already spend my money on re9, crimson and now its pragmata and next saros. For me this are all very good purchases. Allot of time afterwards to save for Wolverine and GTA6.

I was gonna go in completely blind, but I couldn't wait and pulled the trigger on playing the demo. Very impressed they added unlockables to a demo and even special voice lines to it.

As for the gameplay, I liked the combat system a lot. Feels inspired by soulslikes and reminds me of Returnal a bit. I'm a big fan of limiting the player's ammo and weapon types. I thought about ditching the stasis gun for the sniper and then I figured out each slot has a type. The hacking is really cool and having to take your eyes off the action works well to build tension. The special nodes add a whole new depth to the hacking, since you have to choose on the fly whether to use it or save it for a tougher enemy. Also loved they showcased in the demo the dodge is not a panacea and some enemies require jumping. The game also features some light platforming if you want to milk every filament out of the level, wonder if they'll mix that into the combat at some point.

Only complaint I had was using the roll for motion sensor horizontal movement, hope they have an option for switching it to Yaw; otherwise I'll have to play without it.

Looks like it's a simultaneous global launch, so no cheating early by flying to New Zealand.

The Reddit sub for the game went as well as you might expect. Tons of "inappropriate" threads, to say the least. A mod even had a meltdown exposing other mods about their loli shit.

There's even the existence of a SFW sub for the game which is absolutely disgusting

Pedos will be pedos no matter what, but I believe Capcom could have done more in terms of her design to stay away from this shit

Game looks awesome tho

hm so 59.99 on psn store.
was afraid it was gonna be one of those 69.99 games even given its length.

i think my price point is $49 though

Going in blind based on reviews/hype in this thread. Stupid? maybe. but new IP - reasonably priced, and reviewing really well? I'm in.

Best bet with games that heavily feature "young" characters, especially girls, is to completely avoid any dedicated online communities for said game. It always goes the way you expect it to unless, or until, mods really crack down on the bad behavior. GAF mods will handle that shit if someone dares to go down that route in the OT but Reddit? Nah.

As far as her design goes, there's nothing inherently wrong or problematic with her design I don't think. The makeup probably wasn't needed but from my limited understanding there might be technical reasons for it's use (in general, not necessarily this specific instance). There's unfortunately no escaping the...let's generously use (the incorrect word) "art"...that comes with the territory short of completely torpedoing the character. And with PC modding? Yeah...no. People can, and will, fetishize anything you can think up.

And as someone enjoying middle age, the stories that try to feature a proper father/daughter type dynamic have become more appealing so I'd hate to completely avoid young characters altogether and lose out just to avoid the bad e-behavior over a young character's design. From what little I've read that does seem to happen in this one. Hoping for some fatherly tears to be shed by the end!

Not sure if that string of thoughts makes sense. In short, I agree with you overall. I'm just perfectly happy avoiding and ignoring the nastiness altogether. Ignorance is bliss.

the game is £50 on steam man, for 7-10 fucking hours... seriously, I hate how things are nowadays.

Absolutely wild to me that so many indie games below £20 at launch that have 100, 200 and sometimes more gameplay time. SUCKS cause I really like the look of this, just cant justify that cost per hour. Will grab on deep sale
This is not a roguelite, autobattler, or card game. This is a terrible take, I'll take a fantastic 7-10 hour experience for $60, remember in the Atari days you were paying $100+ for literal 20 minute experiences. Who gives a fuck how long the game is if it's great and replayable.

Not to mention a lot of roguelites feel like games that would normally be a handful of hours long stretched into dozens upon dozens of hours in the name of meta progression. Give me shorter games that don't overstay their welcome any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Yeah, I feel the same: father/daughter relationship fucks me up in a good way

And I know internet will sexualize anything, but the combo of makeup + no pants + barefoot + long hair (it's some kind of pedo's dog whistle, apparently) is a little much.

In the main menu she is shown from the back, moving her feet to the camera. Any normal person would go "oh, cute", but a company should also think of the degenerates out there that get sexualy aroused from that.

Maybe my mind is too corrupted, but I think Capcom devs should know better to avoid this kind of stuff. They can't be that oblivious.

So the cynical in me thinks that maybe they dont mind if some degenerates view the game under that light

We are talking about a country where loli media is fine, and pedo mangakas are defended by their peers

But anyway, dont want to deraill the thread further. Just wanted to get these thoughts out there.

I do. Plenty of people do.

The reality is, most gamers can only afford a handful of full-priced games each year

And replayability is subjective. Some people never play a game twice regardless of how good it is.

Quality and quantity aren't mutually exclusive and at €60 they shouldn't be

I reckon chasing quantity in AAA/AA single-player games is a lot like trying to keep hardcore players entertained with the end game of any GaaS: you can't do it. They will consume the content faster than it can be produced.

AI might help, another alternative is going for lower production value games which are cheaper and can be churned out faster.

Someone who values quantity like you and only goes for AAA or AA is bound to be starved.

A 20 hour poorly paced game is not "more worth" $60/$70 over an amazing 8 hour experience. Id rather replay any of the new Resident Evil games than ever touch God of War 2018 again.

Also, if Pragmata is like RE games, replayability is often encouraged with more content to explore/unlock, so "quantity", in this case, doesn't necessarily equate to game length.

The '8-hour masterpiece vs. 20-hour slog' is a false binary. Why are we pretending it's impossible to have an amazing 20-hour experience? Plenty of games achieve it without being a slog. We've seen games like Elden Ring or Baldur's Gate 3 deliver massive scale without sacrificing quality

Length isn't padding if the world and mechanics actually justify the time spent.

For a full priced new IP that's been in development for 6 years, we should be paying for discovery and not repetition

Using the Resident Evil model as a shield for Pragmata's lack of scale is just a way to excuse a game that likely had its scope gutted. I want a world to explore and not a hamster wheel to run in

Don't get me wrong, the game looks fantastic. I want to play it and I'm glad Capcom is finally putting it out. But wanting to play a game doesn't mean I have to ignore the price tag

I've been reading some comments and...Jesus fucking Christ, are we back to the "barefoot" young character thing and it being weird® ? Seriously?

See, this is the problem , just the fact that people HAVE to mention something so innocent and innocuous being "weird"/"pdf®-like etc etc IS the problem, the internet has turned everyone's minds into degenerate mush and we have to blame the West for that...

We had a couple of dudes a few weeks back (think it was the demo thread) making drive-by, thinly veiled accusations of people being paedos or weirdos if they happened to like the game or didn't pay any attention to it, the weird "she's a young barefooted girl®" bullshit was the excuse and...I can't help but think that you're actually the weird one by doing such far-fetched and so sickly-minded westernized® Parallels...
This type of hyper alert reflex is just...not good.

Long hair is also - apparently - a "whistle" for paedophiles? the fuck am I reading ?

Too much Internet man...
