Predict what your top 5 games of 2026 will be and we'll see how accurately it turned out a year from now

DragoonKain

Neighbours from Hell

That was the 2025 thread. I got 1 out of 5 right.

For me 2026 is far more difficult. As it currently stands, it has far fewer games I'm hyped about than the last two years. This is going to be difficult for me to even make a top 5, but as it stands right now I guess I'll go

GTA6
Resident Evil Requiem
Pragmata
Ontos
Control Resonant

I thought about putting Tomb Raider here. Crimson Desert looks solid, but I have a hunch it may end up being too ambitious, and I tire of open world games. Maybe it'll live up to the hype, but consider me skeptical of a game that grand. Chronoscript: The Endless End looks good. I'm sure 2 or 3 will end up being games I haven't even heard of yet like some random Metroidvania gems or some surprise release. I may come back in a couple weeks and edit my predictions if some release dates change or we get new announcements.

IF these games come out 2026:

1: Black Myth: Zhong Kui
2: Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet

But most likely, they won't... so:

1: GTAVI
2: Dragon Quest VII: Reimagined
3: Silent Hill [Remake]
4: Requiem
5: E-Day

Special mentions:
Onimusha: Way of the Sword (lol)
Duskbloods (Megalol)

This next year seems easy to figure out for higher rate of return than 2025:

Wolverine
Saros
GTA6
Control Resonant
Onimusha

I have hesitations on RE Requiem so I gave the spot to Control Resonant. I feel currently more confident in Onimusha.

IF GTA6 misses its launch again I'll put Zero Parades into its slot instead.

2025:

Fable
Possessors
Citizen Sleeper 2
South of Midnight
Avowed

I got 2 right. I had 4% confidence in the list though so I didn't try that hard. Not too bad.

2026:

Clockwork Revolution
Gears E-Day
High on Life 2
Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave
Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake

We'll see. I'm sure it'll be very different by the end of next year. 6% confidence.

GTA (I don't give a damn about GTA, but this is a prediction thread and one has to be realistic)
Phantom Blade Zero
Crimson Desert
Ontos
Tides of Annihilation

I'm sure so much new stuff will get announced that my list will be very different. If Nintendo launches anything big it'll likely be top 5. Metroid Prime 4 honestly hasn't impressed me yet but I'm sure stuff like Mario or Mario Kart will.

Saros
RE9
GTA VI
Halo Campaign Evolved
Lords of the Fallen 2

Beyond these I'm not really interested in anything except for Phantom Blade Zero (wait and see) and the potential for Judas and Intergalactic. I'll play Death Stranding 2 once it's available on PC.

Pragmata
Showa American Story
Virtua Fighter 6
The Adventures of Elliot
Tomodachi Life

Good chance vf6 isn't out next year and tomodachi life ends up full of BS but these are my best guesses. Halloween has a shot especially if Breakers is shut down by then.

If we go based purely on confirmed games:

Professor Layton and the New World of Steam
Dragon Quest VII Reimagined
Well Dweller
Order of the Sinking Star
Orbitals
The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales

I went with six, I had trouble cutting one more lol. This can easily change, not much is known about Nintendo's lineup and a 3D Mario would automatically make the top of my list if revealed. So, we'll see how things shake up! Looks like a good year for me already.

I enjoy these threads, tag me too next year please.

As for results looks like ive guessed 3/5 right last year: Expedition 33, Anno 117 and Doom. I dont think MH Wilds is in my top 5, but ive liked it too and Crimson Desert didnt make. Not a bad result.

Hope these all make it for 2026:
1) Tides of Annihilation
2) 007
3) Crimson Desert
4) Phantom Blade 0
5) Clockwork Revolution

Im hoping 007 will be my goty. Aside from that Phantom Blade seems like it'll have the best gameplay but probably garbage story. Crimson Desert will most likely be mid af. Resident Evil 9 will be great no doubt, but not really goty. GTA 6 assuming it does launch might also be great, but not sure if im day one or waiting for PC. Saros will be ok when on sale. Hoping Wolverine will be my other goty.

1) Phantom Blade Zero
2) Wolverine
3) Onimusha: Way of the Sword
4) Saros
5) Tides of Annihilation

That's it. I think those games will be pretty solid. I also have some honorable mentions:

NiOh 3
The Blood of Dawnwalker
Crimson Desert

All three could be good, but I don't trust the development teams that much.

As for GTA VI: I don't really care about it, but I'll still buy it day one because I want to appreciate the technology.

I forgot Tides of Annihilation. Will put on my 5th spot. Thanks.

1. Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave
2. Ace Combat 8
3. Slay The Spire 2
4. The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales

5. I honestly have no idea here, it could be Pragmata, Wolverine, or 007. I'll say Wolverine just because it's been a while since I've last played a AAA action game with huge set pieces.

I didn't predict last year, but my predictions from 2023 for 2024 were waaayyy off:

Avowed
Harold Halibut
RE1 Remake
Hellblade II
No Rest for the Wicked
I was being bold and predicting RE1 Remake would come out as well.

Here's my predictions for 2026:

  • Resident Evil: Requiem
  • Gears of War: E-Day
  • Fable
  • The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Switch 2 remake)
  • Mixtape

I'll be bold here again and predict the OoT remake. Also, Control Resonant would make my list but I'm predicting it gets pushed out of 2026.

I'm not sure what comes out in 2026. I was spot on in my prediction for 2024, just not in the exact order.

I am hoping for:
Dragon Quest XII
UndeRrail 2
Archaelund
NO LAW
Ytoubleshooter: Banished Children

1. GTA 6
2. Phantom Blade
3. Code Violet (My sleeper hit. This will be my first purchase for 2026)
4. Saros
5. Wolverine

Honorable mentions: ILL, Re9, Pragmata, Romeo is a dead man, and Ace Combat 8 (If it will have a PSVR2 support, I will buy it)

I will have to cheat and add some honorable mentions, as I'm not sure if even half of these will come out in 2026...

1. Half-Life 3 (believe)
2. Stranger Than Heaven
3. Gang of Dragon
4. Showa American Story
5. Yakuza Kiwami 3 (Dark Ties specifically)
Honorable mentions: Romeo is a Dead Man, Stupid Never Dies, Bradley the Badger.

1. Nioh 3
2. Fable
3. Resident Evil 9
4. GTAVI
5. Wolverine

Kinda where I'm at but I'm hoping I'm wrong and I probably am.

Ooh, fun idea. Unfortunately my wishlist has quite a few without even a release year so I'll stick to ones with at least 2026 listed.

- Resident Evil Requiem
- Onimusha: Way of the Sword
- Showa American Story
- Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement
- Wicked Seed

Wicked Seed is my dark horse pick. Low budget solo dev game but it's 100% my kind of game and I loved the demo (played nearly 12 hours...). If Tides of Annihilation does release in 2026 then that would take the place of Bloodstained (which I kinda just tossed in).

Nioh 3 and Crimson Desert have potential but I'm not buying at $70 so I may or may not even get around to them.

What about Code Violet makes you think it will be good? These devs only other game absolutely stinks and the trailers for CV look like a super basic UE asset flip with terrible animation work.

I love Dino Crisis and I miss that type of game so Code Violet will suffice for now. And I saw new videos and it looks great, stable, and I love the atmosphere. And the main character looks interesting. She is beautiful and sexy. I had a conversation with the developer in there X site and ask a few question. They mention allot of good things about the game, like for example they said they did not have any issues with Ue5(they said its optimization issues why other games using Ue5 sucks), Ps5 pro enhance with 60fps mode, allot of trophies and secrets, allot of costumes and items, difficulty option, etc. And they also said they are just indie and a small development team, but they are doing there best to make this game the best Dino crisis type of a game. Of course developers will always have promises, but I do feel something good about this game. Same feeling I felt about Stellar blade before it was release.

I already know how it pans out.
GTA gets pushed back to 2027 and beyond and the new RE is subpar.
Old console values keep going up because the best games are largely behind us.

Saros
GTAVI
Zero paredes
Control resonant
Tides of annihilation

(i think GTAVI will be delayed in 2027 but i'm not sure. Pragmata could be in the top 5 instead…)
