The most obvious basic service would be one just like Live Silver...but if Sony offers free online play, that would be amazing. It would force MS' hand with their service immediately, I would think. Sounds too good to be true, though.

60 GB hdd? YES! Sony was smart going with a 2.5" drive. I bet that 60GB drive costs them less than MS 20 GIG detachable drive.

I hate to say this, but PS3 almost seems like a better X360 right now. Only thing to nail down is the online. And the price...!

I didnt see this posted...PSP Core Pak is coming to Amerika!

March 14, 2006 - At its PlayStation Business Briefing going on right now in Japan, Sony announced new packages and price points for its PlayStation portable.

For the US, a "base unit" release will be priced at $199 and will hit stores at the end of March. Presumably, this is a slightly scaled-down package that doesn't include headphones, the carrying case and so forth, mimicking the cheaper original Japanese release.

Europe will see a similar package for 199 Euros beginning on March 22nd, so mark your calendars. And for you folks over in Japan (or import lovers), a new white PSP SKU will hit shelves starting April 15th and retail for 19800 Yen (~$168 US).

So all we got so far was that the PS2 is officially launched in November, the backward compatible games will be in HD resolution, and they officially announced that there will be an online service, support for the HDD, and they're redesigning the controller. WE ALREADY GUESSED THIS.

Seriously, the PSP stuff was far more interesting.

C'mon Pedigree, I thought you were sharper than that. Xbox Live has a "basic" service that's free, too, if ya know what I mean. And what I mean is, it's something nice to put on a flyer: "Basic service is free!" But it's not even comparable to the pay service. I'm 99% sure this is how Sony's online will work as well. After all, if their online was TOTALLY free, why did they bother pointing out "basic service" is free? Because it's going to be a tiered system, and you'll be paying for the good stuff.

LOL. I think they are just happy about it not being delayed in America until 2007. Im happy myself but still, 8 Months is a long wait for something i want so badly.

Oh I know that, but why if they make playing onling part of the basic service and charge for all other forms of content? That's possible.

Is it REALLY that hard to understand? Most people thought that a November Japanese launch meant that the PS3 wouldn't come to the US until sometime in 2007. It's not that they're happy about a delay to November, necessarily, but that it will DEFINITELY be in the US before the holiday season.

I think this is incorrect. Anyone with a partially functioning brain knew that there was no way they'd let the PS3 launch slip into 2007 in the US, especially after the disappointing PSP launch.
