Preorder Quantum Break for Xbox One, Get Windows 10 version for free - also HW specs

You clearly didn't understand what I was saying. So I'll dumb it down to your level.

Because with DX12 developers can do a lot more than what was possible before, the ultra settings on PC will probably consists of stuff that you didn't see before. Thus you don't know what hardware it requires, Thus a $2500 PC could be very well warranted.

cranking up graphical effects has nothing at all to do with DX12.

My guess is that it is cross buy and this pre order language is to bolster pre downloads.

But since the cross buy is actually win10 store codes sent to you then it's not really one single entry that you can download either on pc or xbone. That's what they need. A single universal package that runs on console, pc (and eventually phones/tablets with continuum).

So if you buy digital on xbone you'll get a code for Windows 10 store version?

As primarily a pc and xbone user this is god damn awesome.

Those rec specs are insane! But I'm assuming I'll get a fairly good experience at 1080p on my 2500k and 970. Going to be so cool transferring saves between versions too!.

That's what I'm saying. My PC right now can't handle it...but I have a XBO so I can at least play it and then whenever I upgrade my PC I'll have it there too. Plus, I'll have another monitor to play it on. I'm definitely sticking with Xbox for this future. Especially if going forward they will have backcompat with XBO games on Xbox vNext (which I presume yes).

I assume this will be like Rise of the Tomb Raider where I was able to max pretty much everything, but had to use high textures instead of very high due to only having 4gb vram.

i7-6700k
980
16gb ram

Obviously just assuming here, but we'll see in the end.

Those recommended specs are such bullshit hahaha.

Marketing at its best, buy the BIGGEST GPUs that probably aren't even needed for these games.

Ah I see. They need to go all in or not bother.

Is this the canary in the coalmine? What's the odds that in the future we'll look back on this as being when microsoft signalled that they weren't going to be making another xbox?

I'm gonna wait a day and see which retailers get this deal. no one has updated yet with this offer including MS Store.

Those recommended specs and the Windows 10 exclusivity makes this a 2017 purchase for me. Great to know that a PC version is coming out though.

Well, better specs mean better performance. I guess they just thought "the game won't notably improve past this point, so let's just put that as the recommended spec".

Either that or you'll need a beefy rig to match the Xbox One's POWER OF THE CLOUD.

Of course they will. It's just a device that plays games and it sells well. Why would they stop doing that?

HOW WILL I RECEIVE THE WINDOWS 10 CODE? HOW DO I ACTIVATE IT?

After you pre-order a digital copy of “Quantum Break” for Xbox One through the Xbox Store, you will receive a system message over Xbox Live that includes a 5x5 redemption code for the Windows 10 version of the game. Codes will be issued shortly after launch.

I wonder how long is "Shortly".

Sweet Caroline, those are some high recommended specs.

It's been two glorious years, but me and my R9 290 are officially starting to feel a bit inadequate.

Of course they will. It's just a device that plays games and it sells well. Why would they stop doing that?

Because the business isn't a real profit maker as far as hardware goes. They make great margins in the software. If experiments like QB do well, they might start to see that the risk vs reward of R&D etc on a new machine might not be worth it.

I'm only thinking out loud here, QB is an unproven franchise and if it was Halo that would be a far bigger deal. But this does seem to be Microsoft starting to think differently about videogames.

I wonder if this deal is also available in Europe, because if it is I'll definitely pre-order QB on Xbox One, then try to play it on my new PC and if that fails I can always go back to the XOne version.

Recommending a GTX 980ti is crazy though. I just bought a new pc with a GTX 970 and already it's inferior.

people are freaking out because it says recommended which usually means to run the game at high with those specs.

people in between should be able to run the game no problem 30+ at 1080p on normal settings. This whole Recommended specs thing has become a "omg my PC is above min but doesn't meet rec means its going to run like shit on my rig!"

They probably should do what Nvidia did for witcher and just tell people if they run this rig they can expect roughly this performance on this setting.

Yh it's one thing that I have learnt is never put too much stock in min/rec specs when you don't know what the settings are for them.

Those high recommended specs might just mean the game really takes advantage of high-end hardware, Remedy are good at optimization.

I'm really interested, but I hate that stuff gotten from the Windows 10 store can't have 3rd party injection stuff. For certain games like Tomb Raider or Quantuam Break, it won't matter that much, but it ensures that I'm never going to buy any game with any sort of decent mod support on their storefront.

Pretty smart move from Microsoft. $60/€70 per game profit when they sell it digitally. They'll probably make as much from selling two copies in retail with added cost of production/shipping/retailer fees etc. Plus they'll increase their sold number for a bigger installed base for the inevitable DLC, which should help sales of that. Microsoft is doing some smart business here.

I don't get all the "OMG RIP XBOX" comments; literally nothing changes for Xbox owners, in fact Microsoft will only make more money from selling their games on two platforms instead of one and that will increase their budget for more/different games. If you want to play your games on PC, fine, Microsoft will make money from you. If you want to play the games on Xbox One, fine, Microsoft will make the same money from you on Xbox. It's not that hard to understand. Yes, Xbox has less console exclusives now but Microsoft doesn't care, they'll make money from the games sold on PC or Xbox no matter what.

Holy shit, DX12 and Cross-Buy?!

Phil Spencer Loves me. <3

I've only read that you can get the Windows Version for free if you pre-order the Xbox One digital version. It doesn't appear to work the other way round, and also only appears to be for a "limited time only"

I don't know if that is really cross-buy if this is the case

Wow, those are some specs ... Pascal and Polaris need to hurry up ...

I'm in the same boat, and also hoping for the same - the 6GB VRAM is definitely a killer.

So glad this is coming to PC. Might have to wait on it though.

GPU will need to be better.

16gb of RAM is the shocker to me. That's insane.

I'm pretty sure I will be able to play it at 720p and solid 30fps in my GTX 570. I can do this with most games nowadays.

That exists. Not sure why it doesn't here. Perhaps x86 programs in the store arent true UWPs as of yet.
