Seriously my company asked me about being a manager. I just said no thanks. I talk to my current manager now and how customers call him at home at all hours of the night just to bitch about someone fucking up. It makes me smile inside knowing I turned it down. Not to mention the stress that comes with it.

One of my friends that promoted to superintendent be all stressed out. What happens is someone else creates a problem on a project. Leaves the project and he inherits it and is tasked with fixing it. The shit rolls downhill. I also have foreman friends that say the general foreman they work under is incompetent and doesn't help much. Ive been foreman temporarily once or twice and I do not like managing people. Especially people that I know are lazy or just don't give a damn about producing quality results. One of my contractors got mad i turned down foreman position. They were trying to groom me. I make enough money. Don't need any stress.

These people are just built different. Workaholics. Once I reached a certain point financially, I had no interest in taking on more responsibilities for more money. I'd rather spend that time doing other things I enjoy, like playing videogames.
I have an acquaintance like this. Well past retirement with tons of money. He still approaches me, someone half his age, for recommendation letters and testimonies to join a new board of some company or the other. Probably in 10 different boards at any point in time. He is so driven. Admirable, but also a bit annoying to be honest. When I retire, I just want to sit in my underwear and be a fulltime gamer.

Some people get purpose from work or just don't want to have free time, myself included.

However, sitting on a board with a twice a month zoom / quarterly in person meeting is not difficult and can feel like a vacation for people with jobs that require 160+ hours a week.

I don't think it's a thirst for money though, as I mentioned, some people are just driven to work, the money is just a byproduct since they really never enjoy the money, their (sometimes) moron kids do.

These executives just seem to do nothing but meeting and interviews. Then just seemingly walk into other executive jobs and the cycle repeats.
Yep, a failed CEO gets job after job, like a failed football manager (soccer for you septics), doesn't matter if you screw up, someone else will take you on and pay you loads.
Once you hit a certain level, have certain contacts, you're set.

Not even remotely gaming news, but I am excited my home state of Arkansas has mentions on GAF!

I'm lucky to live in Little Rock where I don't have to smell chicken houses, but man up north Arkansas where my family lives...

Breaking news: EA's CEO Andrew Wilson joined the World Surf League board in an effort to make his exit strategy, becoming a professional surfer, a reality. Meanwhile, MS's CEO Satya Nadella sits on the Starbucks board in the hopes that he eventually may live out his dream as a barista.
