Guns replacing all forms of magic would be a really big change that could be great. Shotguns = multiple beams of magic that damage mobs. Rifles = One great beam of magic that's slow but greatly damages an enemy. Pistols = One moderate beam of magic that does moderate damage and is a lot faster than rifles.
Of course different guns could exist in each gun category. "Magic uses" would be changed to bullets or balls you have. There would be an accuracy stat, agility or endurance could influence reload speed.

It not only looked great, but different from 99% of other games that have some semblance of this, it actually had gameplay implications as well and opened up some fun interactions with various substances. Oil and fire, poison buildup, being wet increasing fire resistance. Even though the mechanic was still underpined by obviously videogamey stats and numbers, it's an example of a game world following not only its own internal logic, but - to an extent - real world logic as well. Pretty much the best method to increase the believability and immersion of your game world.
I'd be very surprised if the feature wouldn't be in all Souls games made by From going forward.

I'd rather have both guns and magic with a few guns that work with magic then getting rid of simple magic completely.
The PS5 will be out and people will still think TLG still exists, won't they?
