Project Gotham Racing 3 video from near final version

Pretty much my thoughts. You can't say anything wrong because you are a troll or hater. To be frank it was like that from the beginning (Xbox 1) so nothing has changed really. It's their... mentality? I won't post examples because I would be labelled as troll (even bigger than I am) but it's nothing new folks! If it's on XBox/ Xbox 360 it's THE. BEST. EVER. and all critics should just shut their fucking, hating mouths.

EvilAvatar, Gamespot, GAF - always the same thing. Now I'll be flamed to hell, oh well... annoying is annoying.

do you think it will be any different when ps3 launches?

the hud looks great, totally non-intrusive. i love that they dont have any gauges from the cockpit view aside from the ones on the actual cars dash

You consistant attempts to talk about the video in the first post are waaay out of place here. You should take this discussion to a thread about that vid.

Oh wait.... :(

There is no discussion about this video. It was just a bunch of random posts stating how awesome it looked. No discussion. Without the other posts unrelated to the video, this thread would be on page 3.

Yup, very slick stuff. I hope they leave that alone and force you to rely on the gauges instead of some neon graphic that obscures a quarter of the screen.

the thing is i dont know how you guys can tell so much by such a dark video. For all i can tell from the video it could be a current gen game with an in car view. just way too dark.

yeah, i wonder how that will work on a standard tv though...

Yeah. Those were my thoughts as well. I cant see shit, but I can hear it and it sounds great :D

Maybe once you get out of the cockpit view, you get a hud. They could let you toggle it too.

The video quality is kinda shitty but thats the first nextgen video of ingame stuff that has really wowed me.

Its just like 99 percent of the treads on GAF. A bunch of people with 1 line responses and stupid photoshopped pics. The video really speaks for itself.

Although dark, it looks outstanding to me. The cockpit view is incredibly impressive especially. I also can tell they really improved the car handling physics and how the weight of the car throws itself around when cornering. It really shows.

On the sound front, I don't think this sounds even remotely as good as the sound samples they released awhile back. I am quite dissapointed in the sound regard if this will be how it sounds. A quick A-B comparison listening to their released sound samples and then this vid left a frown on my face. I'm a bit confused why so many here are praising the sound so much.

no discussion here. oh, and thanks dark for making sure that this thread got more then a few pages long... cause thats a big deal.

those sound samples were actually recordings from the cars directly, and not in game at all.

i'd imagine the sound is roughly finalized, with maybe some fine tuning left, but also remember that the cars will sound different from different camera locations. if the car sounds like that from the inside, i cant wait to hear it from the chase amera ;)

the released sound samples were REAL engine sounds.. it was posted as such on the bizarre messageboard.

Well, it just goes to my point... unless the readers here are talking about how they believe it will sound in person, at home, on their system.

I was just talking about the sound I heard in this video. It sounded pretty plain and quite basic to me (also sounded hollow, if not even echo like, like driving through a tunnel), it lacked the depth of sound in the samples; it was missing the rising and falling tones at different RPM's. Anyhow... at least in this vid, the sound to me was nothing to really lavish over.

Seeing this video makes me want a TFF wheel for the 360 all the more now. Sucks that they won't have one available for launch. Other than that I'm impressed with how this game is turning out so far.

simply incredible. i still wonder how many can't see the leap even in the dark footage.

The lighting is INCREDIBLE, coming through the window and lighting up the cars innards revealing beautifuly rendered dials, speedometers etc. you can actually see that in this vid. even the reflection and smudge stains on the windcreen refract light realistically as the sun reveals yet more details in the car.

amazing.

simply amazing.

more videos needed.

This Sonybot thinks it looks great. Now GRAW, GoW (fix the animation), and PGR3 all look next gen. Honest question here. Are any of those titles going to make launch? X05 needs to get here soon.

If so, I will pick up my launch system regardless. The graphic whore in me rejoices, and I don't like the PGR series. Won't stop me from trying this game though.

Indeed. I wonder if MS still has the Porsche license. Since NFS:MW will include at least the Carrera GT, maybe the license is exclusively back at EA? That would be casting pearls before swine... :/

Two things:

1. Congratulations MS and Xboxers! This footage, though dark, certainly validates for me that X360 is capable of great things. Next gen? Hell, that looked fucking REAL.

2. What on earth is wrong with these developers whose games look so shitty, we've been tempted to call it Xbox 1.5? They should be punished for their shovelware, and for tarnishing 360's image.

I now have a new respect for the machine.

Don't blame the developers. Blame the DUMB PEOPLE who don't understand that on a powerfull console, if you lack the talent, budget and artistic/technical know-how you will still make ugly games.

It has nothing to do with the power of the Xbox 360. You can make a UGLY ass game run at 1 FPS if you wanted it to. And people will. Just like we have Crash Bandicoot on Xbox, we will have Crash Bandicoot's on Xbox 360. But we will also have PGR3's and Halo's on Xbox 360 as we have on Xbox.

How is this hard to understand, and how is that in any way a testament of the power of the Xbox 360 instead of the lack of talent/budget/portage. Blame those dumbasses who judge the console and it's entire library of games and or future by seeing one screenshot of a game which doesn't follow their artistic sense of style or doesn't have te millions of budgets and talented people n eeded to exploit the advanced techniques.

you say that but EA, the richest 3rd party co in the world pretty much said bizarre was bonkers and pgr3 would never look like BC wanted it to BUT NFS would set the world ablaze. look what happend.

wow... now that looks good.

i said in the past... this generation will weed out the talented from the untalented... really test out their skills.

and from what i've seen... bizarre passed the test with flying colors... the game looks absurd... TOO REAL

i downloaded from the mirror, not the original (keeps stalling) and only get a black screen with the sound on WMP. Is there some wierd codec needed or something cause i just get a black screen.

yeah, i'm assuming there will be a speedo for other camera views, but what i meant was that i wonder how clearly you'd be able to make out the dash gauges in a 4:3 standard def tv?

I just saw the video.

Definitely some great stuff there. Looks very good, but the steering and shifting animations just look so bad to me. They seemed so unnatural and so canned. They can still be remedied but I thought I would throw out my opinion on that.

i see what your talking about, but i really dont see how it could be remedied much. it just depends on how jerky the person playing is steering. if you used a wheel i'm sure it would look much more natural.

BTW. this is the car being driven in the video is a Dodge Viper GTR racer....

Imagine how the Ferraris and Lamborghinis are going to sound!!!

*cries tears of joy*

Well, even if the player was jerking the steering wheel rapidly, the animation should look better than it does in the video. Everytime the player straightens the car out, the steering wheel snaps back into place in this rapid, canned animation that looks bad. Playing with a wheel wouldn't really make much of a difference.

How on earth can you tell that from this dark video? I can really only see the road, scenery, and the dash when it occassionally lights up.

Sorry, it was just a general rant and not to you directly :D

Will PGR3 be playable at X05 (Mr Blimblim sir?) since this is obviously gameplay footage and it looks near complete.
All MS published games planned for launch will be playable there.

Up the brightness one your monitor/media player, or buy a monitor that doesn't suck. :p

As mentioned above, turn up the brightness on your monitor. Even without jacking up the brightness, you should be able to notice the movement of the steering wheel. For the best reference, look closely during the first 10 seconds of the video. That's when you get the most light into the cockpit.

sure it would. i'm assuming the wheel movement in the game would be the same as the wheel in real life. unless you smoke crack, playing the game with a wheel, you probably wouldnt snap the wheel back to dead center so quick ;)

if it just replicates the steering input, then its going to turn when the analogue is pushed (or even worse, the d-pad) and would snap back to center if not pushed in a direction.

reminds me of the good old days when people used to bitch about the funky motion front tires would do while steering in replay videos... back towards teh start of the analogue age

Okay, finally got to watch the vid from 1up.

I'm not a big racing game fan. I like a good race from time to time, but I'm not into cars and only a few racing games have ever really appealed to me enough to buy them. Monoco GP on the Genesis was one. Daytona on the Saturn was another.

Sega Rally on the Saturn was the last racing game I bought. I still remember the sense of vertigo - and euphoria - when I took off on those first jumps. Only four tracks and four cars, but the game was perfection.

I never bought another racing game after that because they all seemed to offer a 'more cars, more tracks' approach but not really anything new to the experience. I'm not into cars, so too much customizing is actually a little intimidting.

All that said - this was the first racing game video that gave me the same sense of exhilaration that I got the first time I played Sega Rally.

I can't pin it down - the video is low quality, dark and a little shaky. But my heart was pumping HARD at the end of it.

If MS wants this game to appeal to casual racing fans and propel the 360, I think it will succeed.

This will be the first racing game I buy in eight years. Can't freaking wait. (60fps or not. That's how hard this sold me.)

i wonder what EA will say when they see pgr3 in motion. overambitious. HA! EA should be embarrassed at need for speed.

:lol Yeah. I was thinking the same thing....and, if im not mistaken, there was a Need for Speed dev on the PGR forums saying how their game looked just as good.
