Protesting the Inauguration of Donald Trump

Well I'm one to say that what happened WAS democratic. It's a damn shame, but it is what it is. It's the same system that's been in place for a very long time now.

That said, I don't have to agree with it an that more people voted against him further strengthens my resolves that many share my beliefs on this man.

The FBI has always conveniently thrown one candidate under the bus for no real reason days before the election?

Picking between two terrible candidates doesn't show that.

I can assure you wont have most people around the world thinking Americans are stupid if you had elected Clinton. You'll at least won't have world leaders wondering what the fuck is going on.

I can guarantee, chop and sign that statement.

and this country will always stand divided :(

I don't see how it changes. Sides are far apart, and the GOP just got rewarded for 6 years of unprecedented obstructionism despite Obama reaching out.

I refuse to normalize the right's bullshit, which legitimizing Trump does. Fuck him and the people that voted for him. Let them come around to progress. We shouldn't need them anyways if more of our side votes.

You have my sword. Fuck him. I'll never acknowledge him.

I'm sure he's gutted.

There's nothing wrong with protesting. People should just make sure they do it peacefully and constructively rather than resorting to bunch of cheap insults at the President and his supporters.

I edited my post. I was talking about the system only, not other contributing factors. You won't get any argument from me about that.

I'm sure he's gutted.

Mmm.

The joke, of course, is that he's a insecure piece of shit, and his public perception actually cuts him pretty deep, and there's millions of people that feel even more strongly about it than I do, and he knows that.

So you sure told me!

Whats up with people NOT watching the inauguration ? This is akin to Obama's inauguration, when many I know said "Fuck that socialist Obama, I don't want to listen to anything he has to say"

It feels so one sided to me, very "us against them". While I do think Trump is a piece of shit, not hearing what he has to say is pretty ignorant.

He has nothing to say. Look at every fucking time he spoke to the public or held press conferences? The dude can't even form a fucking sentence to save his life. All he spouts is empty and illogical bullshit.

Oh no, someone think of the poor bigots feelings buuh fucking uuuuuh. Also totally don't insult teh dude that has literally insulted people every day on twitter and on public.

that's rich considering Trump couldn't even say Hillary's name without throwing crooked in front of it.

But whatever, cheap insults are still peaceful. I agree though in principle that cheap insults aren't the way to go even if they are true.

There's no substance to anything he says and he's completely unpredictable. His supporters are latching onto hate and nothing more because he hasn't offered any ideas of substance. In that sense I think the hate of his supporters is rightous.

Trump is a thin skinned pussy that gets triggered into throwing cheap insults almost every day on Twitter. Sad!

I'll be watching it after the fact so I don't contribute to ratings, since he actually cares about that shit.

Here, let me assist:

whoops, I posted some whiny ass little bitch from 2012 not accepting Obama as his president.
It's ok when he does it.

The protesters should have picket signs of this tweet.

What are you even talking about.
Republican crybabies, yo.

yes it did:

They worked for eight years to get us where we are now in terms of Senate, the House, State governments, and local governments

They just don't have the person who they want to lead the helm but hey, it worked
It's debatable. I put more weight on things like voter suppression and DNC leadership failures. That's what the DNC debates right now are talking about.

My sister-in-law, who lives in NYC, is traveling to DC for the Women's March. I was thinking of going to the local one in Boston, as my coworkers are pretty much all going and my org is listed as a community partner, but then I saw they were expecting 60k+ people. I have severe anxiety in huge crowds if I have any unpredictability so NOPE. Doesn't look like they're gonna have extra train service either so it's just going to be a clusterfuck and I'll be a meltdown waiting to happen.

No, I'm talking about Bannon literally saying "we are the platform for the alt-right." There is no "other" alt-right than the white-nationalist neo-Nazis.

Oh yes there are

https://fee.org/articles/five-differences-between-the-alt-right-and-libertarians/

This is what Spencer coined the term for, White Nationalists later hijacked the term and it later became more nebulous.

This.

He has been democratically elected, Americans have to respect that and try to win back in four years if they're not happy with him.

I wonder what the reaction would have been, had Ms. Clinton won the election and republicans decided to protest.

There is a difference though. Anyone with a brain knows he's in the Russian camp.

Cool.

I was about to write out a long post of the importance and reasons for protesting. But somehow I don't think you care.

My post was a mistake, it was out of frustration. Of course I think everyone is free to protest, but I just think that you can't really protest Trump. Every sane people knows he's shit, and everyone is more than willing to express it. How many protests have there been against Trump? The message is out there. There's no way he thinks he's regarded as a good president.

I just don't want anyone to think I agree with Trump or am part of the "both sides" morons.

Lol this should be everywhere.

1. Yes, you can protest Trump.

2. Thinking that Trump supporters are literally insane does not get you closer to understanding their position or how to counter it.

3. He thinks he's doing a good job.

No matter how angry folks are that Trump got elected. I am still glad this is not one of those countries where a Coup d'état is possible. No mob is going to rush the White House and carry Trump out.

At the end of the day, after the marching and protesting we still have to live with this dude for the next 4-8 years. Unless he makes a major mistake.

I'm not telling you not to protest, I even agree with your principles for doing so. It just doesn't seem like they're listening

Some people need to vent their frustration.

Also, the world needs to see that we all don't agree with this nonsense. The perception of americans around the world is about to go down the shitter again

A military coup is certainly possible, most likely by an outgoing president via declaration of martial law. Highly unlikely to ever happen, but possible.

Honestly that's where I'm at. I don't have it in me to be "the bigger person" when they doubled down on their extreme stances for 8 years and got made sabotaging Obama their MO.

Fuck that. As you said, let them come around.

Regardless if you respect him or not, Trump is always entertaining to listen to

Thanks but no thanks to this form of entertainment. I regret ever finding Trump's antics entertaining at the beginning of his candidacy. It hasn't been funny for the past year.

A friend and I are going to go to a protest rally in Kansas City. Not quite the same thing but they have a great line up of local artists and speakers of all walks of life. I'm sure there will be much more I'll have gained by going to that than watch Putin's lapdog.

It was legalistic, not democratic. Hillary Clinton received nearly three million more votes. 54% of Americans expressly voted against Donald Trump.

I'll be working so I can't really do anything protest wise.

Even as someone who thinks we should respect the results of the election it's ridiculous to say people shouldnt protest. That's quite literally what our country was founded on, and it's protected in the Constitution.

Protest away and make his next 4 years as President a nightmare for him. Part of being in this country is the freedom to bitch and raise a fuss when we don't like or agree with our leaders.

He was entertaining like a year ago, maybe, but the joke went on way too long and it also became our president. The entertainment aspect is a corpse.
