I'm asking myself the same thing.
It's a streaming device with better gaming capabilities than any other on the market, specially when PS Now comes out.
It's not meant to do PS4 numbers. It was extremely cheap in terms of R&D, if it sells a few thousand a month they make money on it.
The ones compatible with Vita on PSN, yes.
Wondering the same thing. I want to play Uncharted and few other of the PSN+ games i got but most of them don't even work.

I hope this does well so we have less Vita games requiring crazy controls. Speaking of crazy controls, this thing can't play Tearaway, and that's extremely unfortunate.

Never played this or any Vita game, but they couldn't emulate the touch controls with the touchpad of the DS4?

And I said that very question ("who the hell is this for?") a year ago when they announced this and the game compatibility was poor then.
This'll most likely flop in the west like it bomba'd in the East. Anyone that wants a streaming device can get a Roku or the like. The only thing this has a claim to fame is "off-tv" PS4 remote play.
Menus in Wipeout are touch-controlled.
Hot Shots can be patched. Backtouch can be turned off and the menu can be controlled with buttons or touch. So I dunno why that hasn't happened yet.
That's dumb. Doesn't a DS4's touch pad add a cursor though?

I wonder if they could do some type of cursor support with the ps4 pad to enable support for games that don't depend on it, but rather used it like Wipeout.

It plays every game I want to play, I can't wait. Honestly, more of those games are not even good outside of a few.
The only game I care about that I can't play is Tearaway, and I can live with that.
That could be. It will probably get more compatible as time passes, just like how Sony have kept working on emulation for PS2 classics.

It's honestly worth it to me to play PSP games, PS1 games, and Persona 4 Golden on my TV. Vita-as-controller and DS4-with-touchscreen support would be nice but neither is a dealbreaker.

Yeah, it's shit that there's very few interesting vita games that will even work on it, and this is made worse knowing that they changed the name to bring it over here. By removing the Vita name from the thing, do people actually expect more Vita game support from it, cause I kind of don't.
I find it funny that I want to say it's a PSP Go situation all over again, but this is probably worse.

Sony should look in patching in touch support via the ds4, wasn't ds4 support patched into the jp vita tv?
Sad thing is of course even if I don't like what they're doing here, I'd still probably buy it to play P4G on the big screen(I did buy the game twice already after all, CE and then digital, not to mention it's the reason I bought a Vita in the first place), but then be angry I can't play VLR on it, a game you don't have to use any touchscreen controls with at all.

I think that's because the touch screen stuff can easily be translated to the DS4 touch pad and the back touch pad stuff (it was used for sprinting) can be translated to R3/L3.

I guess changing the name to Playstation TV was more apt. I guess it's nice as a media/PS4 streaming, PSP, and PS1 digital library device, but still... :/

Yeah, so I read. Frankly - and I tolerate getting the shaft an awful lot on PlayStation products - the disparity is too much. I'll either import (once I know that's OK), or wait for the inevitable and sizeable price drop.

£85 on Amazon too. I think Sony said that is the official price in the UK. Doesn't seem too bad really. Would be awesome if they support it with iPlayer, Netflix etc.
I'd almost be tempted to buy one just to have a JPN account on and access to Japanese PSP and PSOne games. The size of that catalogue dwarfs the European one so much it hurts
