PS2 Online, what's good?

Ok, well maybe I'm looking for "good, with these conditions."

The gf and her sister have both been enjoying playing Burnout Revenge against each other online, and they keep asking me what other games there are that they can play against each other. While I have found a list of online games on the PS2 website, even a review won't tell me which games really fit the bill for what they're looking for:

- No sports games.
- According to their terms "people shooting each other". So I'm thinking the various First and Third person shooters would work.
- The big thing is that the game would need to be fun with two people, as neither of them are big into gaming, and wouldn't want to play with people way over their skill level, which would be pretty much everybody. So if the only maps that the game has are really big, then that's no good.
- The ability to set up private games would be preferred, but not 100% necessary.
- Also preferred would be the ability to have multiple online names (I'm looking at you, Burnout Revenge).

I've been eyeing R&C3 and possibly Timesplitters Future Perfect. Would those work out well for them?

What else would be good?

Vlad, R&C3 is a good choice, based on the conditions you list. It has maps of different sizes and vehicles on the larger maps to cover distances, and it lets you setup private matches. Lobby interface is pretty robust with friends list and different ways to locate games. The multiplayer gameplay itself is solid with a couple of Unreal Tournament-like modes to spice things up beyond basic deathmatch.

Sounds pretty good, and if the control's similar to R&C2, then I could see it being easy enough for them to get into. Didn't it just go GH, too?

While I think it looks pretty interesting, I can tell just by looking at that video that it's most likely too complicated for them. The reason they initially dug Burnout Revenge is because it's pretty straightforward.

I thought of that, but again, I don't see them getting into the trick stuff too much (too many buttons to deal with at once).

How about the Socom games? Are those good for 1v1, or are they pretty much team-oriented?

Dunno about R&C3's GH status, but I wouldn't be surprised. It's got multiple control setups to pick from, like the R&C2 setup as well as a more FPS oriented setup.

SOCOM - wouldn't recommend it for 1v1.

Conflict: Desert Storm. My girlfriend used to beg me to play it with her. They'd have to be in the same room though.

Or, you could just play doctor with them both.
