Let's hope so.Yama said:"[PS / PS2 Settings] has been added as an option."
Could be a start. Like the PSP's PSone emulation, I expect to see a drive speed and aspect ratio option. Hopefully resolution will be there too.

The PSP/PS3 compatible titles play identical to the originals. The new firmware for the PSP however allows for faster load times and aspect ratio changes. Since the PS3 doesn't have these options yet, I'm assuming the next firware update will allow these features. It would make sense, after all the PSP/PS3 combo format came out after the PS3's last update, but before PSP's. Resolution however we have to hope for, can't bank on it.Souther said:Do the Ps1 games that are downloadable from the PS store have faster loading times?

This is the only part that makes me say...?
"* Friends
o You can now have multiple chat sessions."
Unlike the shitty 360 v.chat, you could do 6+ in a v.chat session on the PS3 from day one! So what is this saying?
Support for PLAYSTATION®3 format software titles has been expanded.

sorry if asked before, but does this mean I can finally play PS3 games with my PS3?

Blimblim said:I hope they add a way to set priorities for video modes, something like 720p first, then 1080i, then 480p. I'm sick and tired of having to manually switch on 1080i when I put a blu-ray movie in. Not that it happens often, but still.

Of course. But for some reason I'm starting to doubt it will ever happen.pswii60 said:Or, just scale the damn movie to 720p in the first place so we don't have the problem.
[Energy Saver] has been added as an option.

Firestreak said:I second this. I read some technical explanation about RSS off wikipedia, but I don't understand what this does for PS3. Anyone know?
Wikipedia said:RSS is a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated digital content, such as blogs, news feeds or podcasts.
Users of RSS content use software programs called "feed readers" or "feed aggregators". The user subscribes to a feed by entering a link of the feed into the reader program. The reader can then check the user's subscribed feeds to see if any of those feeds have new content since the last time it was checked, and, if so, retrieve that content and present it to the user.
The initials "RSS" are variously used to refer to the following standards:
* Really Simple Syndication (RSS 2.0)
* Rich Site Summary (RSS 0.91, RSS 1.0)
* RDF Site Summary (RSS 0.9 and 1.0)
RSS formats are specified in XML (a generic specification for data formats). RSS delivers its information as an XML file called an "RSS feed," "webfeed," "RSS stream," or "RSS channel".

gofreak said:Yes, if it was being taken seriously by people (as seems to be the case).
I still don't buy this. It's way too big of an update to be true. Just because it's well-written or written 'in style' doesn't really mean anything either.

mrklaw said:I buy it. To be honest there isn't anything massive in there, just a big list of little tweaks (although depending what they do, that 'video modes' thing might be useful)
No custom music, no idea how much 'integration' there is of the XMB, no streamig video from your PC, no 720p BD (not that I care, but its relevant to some).
It's like sleep mode when you leave the machine idle, or a low power using screensaver.Luckyman said:Uh what?
I actually read that differently. As in adding extra features for ps3 titles. Xmb could go into that category. Especially if the hooks for friends lists, playlists are added.Support for PLAYSTATION®3 format software titles has been expanded.
