PS3 Controller

Man, I can't understand how you can prefer that controller. It's not bad at all, but I really don't see what is so function-over-form about it, except for being wireless of course. It's heavier, feels worse in hands due to battery bulge, and it's analog buttons are botched (try playing MGS2 or 3 with it). This all goes for the new, smaller logitech controller, of course.

The grips are a lot more comfortable for me. The battery compartment doesn't really get in the way IMO. I do agree the analog buttons aren't the best, but they get the job done (very few games use it anyhow).

So... can we expect the same sort of reaction from you when Nintendo reveals the Revolution controller?

Did you even read my post? My two favorite controllers are Nintendo-related. The Wavebird, and the Mako64. This is solely ergonomics. I don't care who makes a controller, it simply has to work. Don't confuse my disgust at Nintendo's failures for ignorance to a functional design.

That said, despite the great ergonomics, both the Mako and Wavebird are plagued by the most retarded button layouts known to man. Hated the c-buttons on the N64, and absolutely despise the c-stick and face buttons on the GC. Excellent ergonomics fuckowned by that brilliant dumbass Miyamoto. I love his games, but he should not be allowed anywhere near a controller prototype. Give me the PS2/X360 button layouts any day of the week *quickly looks over post*. OK, I got my Nintendo digs in. :D PEACE.

It says that because SCEA took a shit when Sony Japan showed them a day or two before the show.

Note that there's no such qualifier on the equally early console design.

I believe all the official SCEI images of everything related to the physical console (controller, console case design) all had the disclaimer of something to the extent of "All designs are concepts and subject to change."

My thoughts are best summed up by this photoshop I put together:
