PS3 Home Official Thread

Got it installed and all but during Initializing,it always times out for me for now...oh well,it's expected for now, hopefully i'm able to slip through later on.

I gave up for now. After 10 minutes of loading the plaza I got disconnected and haven't gotten back on. I will try again later when it might be less busy. All I got to check out was my apartment.

Its difficult making my character look asian. Also, is there any way to play music via items? XMB doesnt seem to work.

Yeah, I'm having the same problem with my character.

No it's not. Make the eyes smaller and use fancy hair? :P

That said, my character looks close to me, but I will put an effort of making it looks more closer.

I guess mine looks KINDA like me. I'm half-Asian though.

I finally put a bit of time into Home today, what a piece of shit.

Jesus Sony, are you kidding me? I know it's a Beta and all but I don't see the appeal of it at all. It's slow, boring, most people don't have headsets, the various Home spaces are are yawn inducing. The only thing that I kinda liked was the bowling, even that was half assed, they could have at least let you use the analogue stick to throw the bowling ball.

WTF IS THIS SHIT.GIF

Complaining about something that was free? Wahh, cry me a river.

I don't care that's it's free, it should at least be entertaining on some level. Wasted resources if you ask me, Sony could have used their money on something better.

why dont you give it time and see what they do with it?

Can't log back in for shit, whole slew of errors.

I'm gonna miss the Dance Party, how will I ever get by? :lol

Soooo under my sub account, I try to connect and it says you are not old enough. How does one fix this issue (and this would also calm the wife down :lol )

It's a bit of a known issue. Apparently it has to do with the Beta age requirement (18) not having switched over to the launch age requirement (13.) And I guess that carries over to master/sub accounts as well. Shit... now that I think of it that's probably why I haven't gotten into any betas!

Anyway it should clear itself out soon. It did for me after about 20 minutes. Where do you live?

Anyone else getting stuck at the "Don't turn off during HDD access" warning screen? I can quit back to the XMB from there but hitting X to continue does nothing.

GG Sony, another triumphant rollout.

In the US (Utah to be exact).

I can't even get past the signing in... screen. I also could barely even post this reply. Is the Internet crumbling before our very eyes?

Make sure your controller is set to controller 1, I couldn't continue from that screen either until I set my controller to slot 1 and that's because my Guitar Hero controllers take up 1 and 2 so it automatically assigns 3 to my controller.

I live in the US, too.

Crap - I'm getting the age error again now. Maybe it was never fixed and I was just logged into my master account before. I don't know.

Guess we'll just have to wait it out. Probably should check the Playstation forums.

Same, I was in earlier.. had to disconnect for a while and now impossible to log back in :(
I hope they fix that by tomorrow!

um, so do your trophies transfer over as in game cash in Home?

Hey Sony, READ THIS!!!

And to answer your question: No, not that I know of. However, in the future, you can get certain cool items to either wear or fiddle around with or place in your own virtual home when you get certain trophies. That was the idea from the start, but I'm not sure when and where we can expect this.

Given that Trophies are mandatory next year, it won't be long. I hope.

OK so, PSHome is officially amazing. Will the novelty wear off? Probably. But for now, it reminds me of the very first time we all fired up our 360s and were awed at the constant, free stream of game demos, videos, & other content we not had access to right on our home console.

I intended just to check it out, but ended up wandering around for 90 minutes. Things I did:

+ Ran up to several groups of people doing the "robot" dance (which is hilarious BTW), and responding to all their statements/questions with "Robot?"
+ Literally bumped into a dude I know in real life :lol :lol (He was using his real name as his PSN handle)
+ Scored 290 on the fountain UFO game in the main plaza.
+ Won a game of chess
+ Made it to level 3 in the breakbreaker arcade game.

Things I HAVEN'T done, yet:

- Played pool
- Bowled
- Checked out the movie theater
- Checked out the Far Cry or Uncharted spaces.
- Done any customization to my apartment.

It's a little cheesy that they're charging $$ for virtual items available day 1 (what makes the hooded sweatshirt worth 50 cents, while the long-sleeved tee is free? or the cowboy hat?), but the flipside is that, as a completely free app, Home contains a TREMENDOUS amount of value. I don't know that there's a precedent for a VG company to have ever given away so much for free, in the past.

It's pretty clear that this is going to be a huge hit for Sony. I hope they're gather good metrics about the number of human-hours users are spending in front of the video screen in the plaza & mall, so they can start working with companies to pipe in movie or game trailers... if enough of that kind of monetization happens, we'll probably see more free content than pay content down the line.

Hows anybody even playing, it's not workin for me at all? I've had the beta, but I wanna check out the spaces and stuff like that.

it seems that once you are in, youre good. But I have not been able to get in yet.

Damn it, I keep getting this "Request timed out... medius/eroeur something or other" every time I try to connect. Do you have to download Home again or is something wrong?

This thing can bite me. I can't even get in.

For what it's worth, my request to enter kept being denied (it would time out), so I just kept re-trying until I got in, while I did some housework. Probably took about ~20 minutes.

It's being hammered to death, litterally. A monkey is banging on the Home server with a hammer. In a few minutes, another one will come with a crowbar and go all Gordon Freeman on it. After they're done, they dress up like WWII soldiers and use flamethrowers to scorch the last life out of it.

But no, nothing's wrong. This is a normal day for them. Keep trying though, you might get through eventually.

Damn there's quite a bit to be done in Home at the moment, assuming I like those arcade games.
