I really hope Gaf community is a real thing.

Is a 'Sony MVP' willing to ask for clarification of how Communities work?

I mean it sounds great for something like GAF if it can be a 'everybody can invite anybody' type of situation and not a 'mod/admin has to accept everybody'. Because then whoever creates it is fucked and has to accept every single person or make a million 'mods'.

I genuinely hope it's simple and accessible.

Storage increase, friend groups, and communities are really nice additions. Hoping their next move is to clean up the XMB and library. Then I'll shut up.

Yeah I really hope there's invite-only and "public" communities where anyone can join without approval. I mean I guess you can get griefers and the like but I don't think it should be that big an issue.

I added and got added by a bunch of people on the PSN thread but I dunno, it still doesn't really feel like a community for some reason. I hope this new feature addresses that, I wanna go into a page and see a list of cool shit that a bunch of people have been doing. Like, hey here's a video of an amazing goal in Rocket League, here's a bunch of screenshots from Bloodborne, hey these guys are playing Driveclub right now.

Yo, I want premium avatars available on PS4 already. Not in the mood to pull out my PS3 to change it but it's damn sure happening when Yakuza 5 is out.

This is a fantastic update. While many complain about the lack of folders, I really could care less. The bigger cloud storage and events/communities seem to add much more value to the experience. Not saying I would not welcome folders or some way to customize the dashboard.

a friend list is much more different than a community which is why it sounds great. Like you said, sharing cool videos/screenshots and having the community like them. Of course we'd likely have to moderate to not have people take videos/screenshots of spoilers. Only way I can see the community working is if the only way to join is to post in a thread with your PSN so a log of every GAF member is there, and if somebody tries to troll they could be banned from the community and possibly from GAF.

Again this is all assuming shit even works. I won't get my hopes up. Lord knows I did when the DestinyGAF communities were planned. I helped manage them up until a point where we realized it was a joke and pointless.

Should we expect some sort of minor UI change with this update? By which I mean: are we expecting a community app as another tile on the application bar, or will Sony integrate communities into the UI (kind of like how Nintendo integrates miiverse into their UI).

It'd be cool to turn on my PS4 and see recent/popular posts without having to open an application, like with miiverse.

Not seeing a whole lot to get excited for. Extra storage is nice, not sure it needed to take so long. Still bugger all media capabilities that interest me. Still holding off on buying one. Soon, but this is not what will get me over that hump.

Is there a way to control what titles get saved on the cloud? I recall mine filling up fast with stuff I didn't care for so I turned it off.

im not totally clear on how it decides on what to upload. i think it looks at failed uploads and retires that, and then goes forward and uploads new saves. i think there needs an option

but i never actually delete my local save files. but rather, if i'm running out of space i look at whats on the cloud and delete from there.

It pretty much just checks for updated files and uploads them.

You can go to settings > app saved data management > saved data in system storage > upload to online storage highlight a game or app that you don't wan't to have save data uploaded for and press the option button and turn off auto uploads for just that game/app. For me this is apps like Hulu.

I imagine this is going to be incredible for E3, so convenient for me and my friends who used to fuss around with streams. Now YouTube Gaming is pretty decent so far, and E3 2015 was smooth streaming, this will be beautiful for E3 2016.

I also hope they do it for PlayStation Experience 2015 too.

Most of these sound like things I would use. YouTube streaming, .png pictures, expanded cloud storage, friend grouping, built-in clans/communities. This sounds like a good, meaty update.

10 GB cloud storage is a decent and much-needed improvement, but it's nothing to get too excited about. Steam's cloud save implementation is still far superior.

Overall, this 3.0 update just seems okay. Nothing wow-worthy.

Increase in storage is hugely welcome. Granted, I think for many on Gaf who play a lot of games it will run out somewhat soon, but this is a massive start. Next step would be to make it like Xbox/Gmail/Outlook where it's theoretically unlimited or else they're just pushing the problem off a little bit further (especially as we can see some game saves be extreme and take up 500-800 MB). Regardless, this is very nice.

Communities sound great as well. However, am I correct in assuming that by communities they allow you to create it's not totally free-form? It would be huge if it would be. GAF community inbound! Plus, helpful ones like Destiny Raid community, etc etc. I loved MiiVerse and I'm glad to see Sony following that concept. I would also love if this was available from the browser and in the PlayStation app on phones. Also, if they could send community events (like Steam community events), that would be great.

The one thing I still want to see is an ACTUAL Twitch app on the Playstation. It sucks you can only watch Twitch streams of people streaming from PS4. I could be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure even if you route your PS4 -> PC so you can use OBS it wouldn't show up on Live On Playstation.

Finally 10GB cloud saves but it won't last. Soon we will start complaining again. .PNG screenshots is awesome. This is good update, let's hope Sony will start following Microsoft by releasing monthly updates.
