PS4 gets a new, lower price starting Friday: $349.99

I wonder if they'll announce a Black Friday bundle again this year. GTAV + TLOU is still the best bundle I've ever seen.
And also the one I bought
.

If I was Sony, I'd make two BF bundles:

$349: Bloodborne (with DLC code) + Until Dawn + 12 months PS+

$349: Tearaway + LBP3 + 12 months PS+

/shrug

There will probably also be retailer bundles with a $50 gift card thrown in I guess.

No Bloodborne? Choosing between an Uncharted bundle and a Battlefront bundle is like Opposite Sophie's Choice for me.

Are those lifetime sales? If so, those are some pretty soft numbers for MCC.

Debut month in the US only.

Didn't Halo MCC sell 1 million copies in it's first week? And didn't the gap between Halo franchise sold without MCC and Halo franchise sold with MCC increase by 5 million from 60 million to 65?

600k are the first month debut numbers from NPD, it definitely sold more since then, you're correct in that people calculated the game to have sold ~5 million LTD.

I don't know where you got the 1m first week from.

Makes it more tempting to pick up a special edition one. I am a day 1 owner and love my PS4, but would like to have a special edition one as I've done with all of my previous consoles.

MS is going to have to be cheaper to close US gap. Both systems will sell shit tons at 349 but not like last holiday.

MS needs to be really cheap in Europe. They need to eat the profits to sell the console. Ir feela like MS is just going ride it out and hope the next console sells better in Europe but damage ia probably done if they dont regain sales

Do note that the 5 million increase cannot be attributed to Halo MCC.

The number also includes repeat sales of older games, Halo Wars, and other Halo game related sales etc...

I not too worried about Canadian pricing, even at 449.99 the CAD bundle more times than not came with 2 games at that price. Though I'd have liked to have seen a return to 399.99 + Game, it has been on sale PLENTY of times at US MSRP and even less (with GCs + SDM points).

Bring on the sales Canada, 399.99 Last of US + Uncharted bundle and I'm in.

Let's not forgot about the Spartan Strike/smaller spin off games either

Yea, it sucks, I am not arguing against that. I'd love to have parity with the USD, but calling "shitty government" because the CAD isn't at parity with the USD is ridiculous

Our fucking government has lead us right into a recession and lied about it. How fucking delusional are you? Typical cluless canadian response, burring their heads in the sand.

Please do the country a favour and don't fucking vote next week.

Edit: Price drop is great for the US! ;)

Man don't give me that bullshit on exchange rates.
PS4 Price in Japan before price drop
JPY¥39980 = US$333.33
After price drop (current price in Japan)
JPY¥34980 = US$291.60

Funny how they have no problem keeping 100 yen to 1 US Dollar in Japan regardless of exchange rate, meanwhile in Canada the dollar drops a bit so prices must go up immediately.
The reality is Sony will just charge what they think people are willing to pay, and they don't give a shit about Canada.

Exactly and for those using the dollar exchange as an excuse, how did Microsoft respond to the falling Loonie? What about Nintendo? Did the prices of their consoles increase? Did the PS3 get a price increase? Honest questions, I have no idea; I don't usually follow console stuff.

The dollar being weak has nothing to do with the "recession" and it will be weak regardless of which party wins.
It was weak before Harper came into power, and it will be weak after, unless oil goes up dramatically.

Truth, it's all about OIL.

It finally got a price drop! Maybe this will make it easier for my friend and nephew to get a PS4 now. lol at Canada when early adopting the system was actually a benefit price wise.

Hope this gives incentive to jump into this generation, both consoles now a little more affordable (states side) now you just have to figure out what kind of games attracts you more. Unless you ballin out of control and can afford both

It will be interesting to see Black Friday deals and what not.

I think something like the Uncharted Collection with The Last of Us Remastered Digitally with a $50 gift card for $349.99 would be great.

Maybe I shouldn't have revised my forecast down and just stuck with the original prediction I made in January.

Hi Zhuge.
Since you are one of the best, if not the best predictor i ever seen, what do you think about my predictions?
I agree about the total 36.1 million, but i have a worse Q2 and a better Q3.

I personally predict 3 million in Q2 ( Down YOY a bit since last year was the Destiny quarter), and 7.8 million in Q3 for a total of 36.1 million PS4 shipped.

Nice price cut except for stupidly only taking 20 off the COD bundle. The COD bundle last year fell 50 dollars right along with everything else, so this is dumb. Sony's going to sell a lot of PS4s this holiday season. I wonder how low MS would need to go to counter this.

It's Halo, MS have October locked price cut or not.

Or did the gaffes of MCC generate enough bad blood that a lot of fans swore off the series (or at least 343i)? PS4 doesn't really have any big titles coming out this month though. And XB got the Fallout4 bundle in Nov.

I'd say 2nd week (and on) Halo sales, Fallout4 and whatever BF deals give November to team Xbox.

Do people not remember what the PS3 and 360 cost at launch here? It was weak before Harper came in and only went up because of the price of oil.

Well actually he has a valid question as the Destiny bundle isn't mentioned in the price cuts.

But that was my point. He asked if a Destiny bundle was mentioned - it wasn't. Sony gave us a clear chart, it was easy to see what was mentioned or not. If there is a Destiny bundle, will it get a price based off the new discount? Of course. But it wasn't mentioned.

Yeah, I think it is only 5 or 6 days.

Halo 5 will sell really well but I do not think it will move enough hardware to counter the sales the PS4 racks up over the rest of this month.

Hmm I think Halo 5 will be the game to bring in a lot of people holding onto their 360.

That combined with the ridiculous attach rate MS has for Halo means a straight forward
October win for them.

No doubt this drop will provide a significant boost for ps4. I still give the edge to MS this month because halo but the momentum of this drop plus the bundles releasing in November are going to do gangbusters

Last year XBOX burst through most of the gap PS4 had opened in just two months, they know they can't let that happen again, albeit it possibly will, depends to what extent.

Thanks for the kind words :)

The reason I originally had Q2 at 3.4m (then revised down to 3.2m) is because I thought that would be the most likely time we would see a price cut. The price cut has now taken place (pretty much worldwide) during the first week of October and so I believe the price cut combined with new 1200 models will increase Q2 shipments to cater for this price cut at the beginning of Q3 and so that there is adequate stock in channel for October.

Therefore I would say that we should see around 3 million if not more this quarter to account for the upcoming immediate spike in sales.

That's not to say that Q3 won't be high. But I do think we're more likely to see Q2 at or over 3m. So yeh, it's good.

If Q2 is lower than 3 million then I certainly expect Q3 to be higher than 7.5m

Is the concept of exchange rates utterly foreign to Canadians or something?

Nope, but how did other consumer electronics manufacturers respond to the falling CDN dollar? Did the price of WiiUs, Xbox Ones and PS3s go up as well?
