I think everyone ought to open the Polygon review just to see how beautiful the page itself is
Virtuoso coding, to be sure, but it is way too much for a simple review as it gets in the way of the information. Still, it is technically very nice.

Oh my god, I would pay for someone from Naughty Dog to just reply "Yes.".Shots fired

How do you really review a console with a score? Odd.

CNET has their review up,
The next generation is here. Now wait.
The PlayStation 4, in contrast, is a simpler system, and I mean that in the best possible way. Its smaller, easy to set up, and doesnt come with anything you dont need. It focuses on games and, at least in the initial batch of games, its delivering more power. You need to pay for PlayStation Plus to play online, but Sony refused to hide other features behind a pay wall, and you get Resogun and Contrast free on day one with your subscription.
I've been playing games, interviewing developers, and traveling for the past 48 hours, so expect more stories from now until launch covering many of the features and games of the PlayStation 4. If you have questions, please ask in the comments. Sony wanted to focus on games, and by God they've succeeded in that goal. This is a hell of a system.
Dont do this.Fcuk, are people saying bad things about the GafStation4?
(only semi serious)
WTF? I don't think you can really review a console, at launch, besides its games. Hardware, I guess?

This is an enormous challenge for the PS4. As a system focusing on games, that's where it currently lives or dies. As problematic, Sony's currently announced slate of platform exclusives is thin shy of Infamous: Second Son, there's little to carry the PS4 through the spring and summer of 2014.

Should you buy a PS4?
Yes. Sony has vaulted us into the next generation with style, delivering a powerful system that's sleek, speedy, and most importantly, user friendly. Even if you don't plan on picking up many PS4 games at launch, the system feels like an affordable and worthwhile investment that will do right by early adopters. As long as your PS4 doesn't cook itself, the two of you should get along just fine as you embark on the journey into the eight console generation.
Umm...Drive Club, The Order. WTF are you talking about Polygon?
One more bomb has still not dropped.
When I came back to the freshly reset system and tried to launch the game, I was a bit surprised to see an installation progress bar that was already about two-fifths complete. It seems that the system automatically started copying the disc data to my hard drive before I even launched it (I was able to confirm this in further tests).
That's a nice, user-centric touch that shows Sony seems to care about getting players into the game as quickly as possible despite the installs. From the moment a disc first hits the system to the moment it starts to load, the whole install process lasts anywhere from 10 seconds to just under a minute, depending on the game. Once the game launched, there was sometimes a few more minutes of additional installation before multiplayer modes were ready to go, but for players launching a single player game for the first time, the process was barely noteworthy.

Polygon's video review sums it all up.
"Right now, this is a game console without a game to recommend it."
I
You going to post this in every thread?
Killzone Shadow Fall
Resogun
Contrast
Battlefield 4
Assassins Creed IV Black Flag
Fifa 14
NBA 2K14
NFS Rivals
Despite some of these games also being on current gen, many are legitimately far more comprehensive and feature rich on the next gen consoles, that's before we even get to talking about the big graphical improvements. In other words, I strongly disagree.
Gotta build up the hype. Too bad it's embargoed.

It's a positive bomb.
Priceless
Ars Technica, on game installations:

Every article I've read seems to agree with this - barely any upfront install times on games, 45s-1min max. I was worried after reading about the size of some of these installs, whether it would get in the way of quickly playing.
