Hey guys, just a heads up. You can still use the Pulse headset with the PS4, just have to use the aux cable that came with the headset and plug it into the DS4 controller. Works for both audio and Mic.

Does anyone have the Best Buy (Rocketfish) PS4 headset? If so, how is it compared to the earbud? It seems to me that the earbud is way too quiet and the sound quality is pretty shitty.

Hmm this may make my decision to buy one sooner rather than later a bit easier.

Question: just about every time I hear a developer mention second screen possibilities for games in the future, they mention phone & tablet, but never Vita. I see that there's the option for second screen functionality when I boot up remote play.

Not exactly sure how these things work, but I'm assuming second screen stuff has to be separately programmed for, like 'we're going to have a second screen app that supports Android and iOS'. Is the Vita automatically supported as part of the PS4 ecosystem? Or could there be games that potentially only support second screen on mobile and tablet if the developer can't be bothered?

If it is the Playstation App second screen it will be supported on all devices. However, a lot of the games that are touting "second screen" functionality like Destiny and MGS5 are really talking about companion apps that are not dependent on the PS4 and therefore will need to be specifically coded for iOS, Android, Vita, etc...

Can you download stuff while the ps4 is in standby or shutdown without psn+?

Soooo, how's the sound quality during voice chat? If you use a good headset, is it possible to compare it with something like Skype?

Can you set the volume for chat separately than game audio? No headset out there seems to do this unless I'm mistaken. So I may just wait for the firmware and second wave of peripherals.

Right now I use TV sound and the chat earbud, or just pipe all audio through the controller to my earbuds and lose out on chat.

Very interested in picking up a wireless headset for game audio and chat, with separate controls.

Is there an idle shut down? I had left it sitting with Knack paused for like 3 hours and just switched to the input and it was off.

Any way to disable it if it does exist?

Is Ghosts really that bad compared to BF4 (minus the bugs/errors BF4 is having right now...I'm sure that will be fixed soon) ?

I'm looking for a 2nd shooter and first impressions of KZ multiplayer is that I can't stand it. I don't want to bother spending the money for Ghosts if it's awful though.

For anyone that is having troubles with the PS4 not using the full speed of their internet, I followed the port forwarding guide over at http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm (Select your router brand name, then model, then select PlayStation 4) and my download/upload speed jump up considerably for me.

This is my speed when doing a test from my PC:

Before I followed that guide I got 2.4 down and like 890kbps up.

After I did the port forwarding I'm getting anywhere between 2.2 mbps - 3.8 mbps down to 2mbps - 4mbps up now.

My latest speed test result I got on my PS4 is 3.8mbps down and 3.1mbps up.

Awesome, I'm going to try this in a minute. I'm annoyed by the slow network speeds for streaming so far.

I was wondering: are there still loading bars for doing anything trophy related, like syncing or comparing your trophies to a friend's? I hope with PS4 that's a thing of the past now, and everything just shows instantly.

Why don't you think KZ sounds good? I wouldn't get ghosts if you already have bf4

Well I checked a couple of Costcos, two Kmarts, two Targets and a Best Buy today. Best Buy trolled my ass with those "display" boxes they have lol. I think I'm just gonna wait until Amazon restocks I'm tired of driving around.

Gotta Digital download question, expecting my PS4 on Monday (UK)

Has any of the Playstation store download pricing changed/got cheaper with the PS4... or will we have to wait until the amazon digital comes for competition?

Digital was always a premium price, is it now atleast competing with retail?

I guess I just need to get used to it. I felt like I was moving at a snails pace. Then again I'm pretty new to online shooters so all of these games take a little getting used to.

man I love how snappy the ui is. huh someone from gaf sent a friend request? accepted. I need to go to the store and get something, added to download queue. Cant wait to see where Sony goes with this, and when it gets fleshed out some more.

I'd say get ghosts I you really feel like having two modern military shooters, but def pick up KZ. It's a blast in MP, to me, an a real showcase of the PS4

Hey does anyone know if it is possible to hide the twitch overlay while streaming? It has these grey bars on the right and bottom parts of the screen which I guess is intended for showing chat etc., but it takes up like 30% of the screen so it would be nice if I could minimize it somehow. Sorry if this has already been asked.

Yes you can, disable "show chat comments" or something like that and it goes away.

Astro A50 headsets have this feature if I'm understanding your request correctly. You can basically increase voice or game audio in relation to the other.

I only got in about 2 hours with the machine on Friday night. What happened or where is the area where you see all the shit going down with your friends? Not talking friends list but "Slappyjoe uploaded a video", "HairyMary is watching The Notebook", "Six696969nine earned a trophy in Knack".

It should be under "What's new". It hasn't worked for me since Friday night.

Did you hit up any gamestops? The 48 hour hold on preorders runs out so they could have extra units to sell.

Lord Error

Insane For Sony
Two day playing the PS4 now and I'm very happy in general, but there are some things that concern me a bit (blu ray movie playback in particular) Here are my impressions:

Positives:
+ Machine worked perfectly right off the bat and still does after about 20h of use. No bad surprises with console, controller or the camera, and I'm very nitpicky with stuff like squeaky controller buttons, wobbly cooling fan etc. No complaints here.
+ Everything is snappy and the games launch really quickly. Store launches quickly as well when PSN works, and downloads are blazing fast even during this time of PSN fiddliness.
+ Games I tried so far are great. Flower and Resogun running at perfect 1080p/60. Killzone looking phenomenal and running smoother than I somehow expected.
+ Playroom is great fun! Kids that tried playing it *love* it, and I'm massively impressed how well the camera works even during the night and artificial lighting. The lag seems almost non existent compared to any augmented reality game I've ever tried. It's all very smooth and seamless, and fun, and the camera quality adds greatly to selling the while experience.
+ PSN matchmaking worked well for me even during this time. I played Resogun last night with GAF's Kaching, and it worked perfectly.
+ Controller is fantastic except for the battery life (see negatives). I love D-Pad even more than the Vita one because it produces a tactile, but not audible click like Vita does.
+ Remote play on Vita works great, as does the PS iOS app, which allows for quickest text entry into PS4 OS (although the motion sensitive text entry using controller is no slouch either)
+ Generally pleased with the whole experience, I just want to keep playing and using the machine.

Neutral:
~ Fan noise is acceptable. Better than launch PS3, about the same as PS3 slim. I noticed that fan is smarter than on any PS3 model, as it will kick into a brief overdrive for 10 seconds or so when the game ramps up doing something intensive, then as the processors cool down enough, the fan then turns down to a lower spinning level and stay there. On PS3 once the game reaches fan overdrive, it stays like that forever or until you quit the game. Killzone is the only game I tried that has made this brief fan overdrive happen. You can even tell which cutscenes in the game are video files based on the fact that the fan spins down as soon as the video cutscene starts. The immediacy of this fan spin-down makes me think that the cooling is very well managed in the machine and that it won't ever overheat. Resogun, Flower and Playroom all produce low fan noise that's not worth mentioning.

Negatives:
- Blu Ray movie playback. When the movie starts playing, the drive noise is unnacaptably high. As the movie keeps going, and the laser reads closer to the center of the disc, the noise diminishes significantly, and usually 30-45 minutes or so into the movie it becomes almost inaudible. However, for the first 15 minutes of playback, drive sounds like a jet engine, like it's trying to copy the movie to HDD as soon as possible instead of just playing it at 1x BD speed as it should. This is a big one, and I'm not sure if my console is defective or if they thought this was really acceptable for movie watching (it isn't)
- Battery of the controller dies too quickly, and the multicolour light at the front is the likely culprit. So far I had to charge the controller at the end of each day as the battery died after 8-10h hours of use. Kind of ridiculous as the controller functionality is not that much different from DS3 except for the light, and maybe the speaker.
- PSN has been hilariously flaky causing all kind of hiccups to the OS, but at least download speeds have been great.
- The background wave animation is a 2nd grade visual compared to the glory and classiness of PS3 XMB wave.
- I've heard they made the OS UI running in the web browser which IMO was not the best decision, because you can tell that even PS4 struggles at times to maintain perfect smoothness through it. Thankfully, smoothness is there 95% of the time, but still, when much weaker Vita can run so smoothly a non-browser UI, why go that route here? They're probably just using far more CPU cycles to run this smoothly than they otherwise should, so it's no surprise that power consumption increases notably when you have the game+UI running.

Is there a reason there's no demos on PSN yet?
Fifa and Trine 2 have demos. There's no demo section to go to in the store though. Maybe more games have demos, but you have to visit each game's page to find if it's there.
