It was suffering hickups, the "XBL has been down for 16 hours in the UK" thread was full of people saying they had zero problems, so the majority could play fine.

Right now I cannot get my PS+ games, connect the second screen app or link my Vita for RP , browse the store , play any of my games online , make use of any of the video sharing or streaming and then there are the features Sony turned off for launch.

It's not a good experience right now, and there is little excuse for it.

I was pleasantly surprised it under stood my Scottish accent with little or no problems, in fact I didn't even need to use clear speech , just my everyday conversational voice.

Lol that is way different. You have a ton of people updating psn accounts, creating new accounts and updating system. That hammers the databases...

Also it's black Friday in US and retailers were holding all ps4 for today so it like another launch.

The whole Ms system went down on Xbox one launch day.

Because some are saying that because Xbox One sold 1M in multiple regions, that's why it didn't go down. And that PS4 sold 1M in NA and that's why it went down. Yet, PSN goes down in the US because of the Euro launch? So why didn't Xbox One suffer the same problems when obviously region doesn't matter for the whole system going down?


And I don't see Black Friday as the day more PS4's went online in any significant amount. Any PS4's bought today are most likely getting wrapped to go under the tree for Christmas. December 25th is going to be fun.

Man, PSN being down brings the necessity of online into the forefront, literally cant do ANYTHING but play an un-updated single player game without trophies on my PS4 right now.

All the people hammering the servers to play Cod and Fifa? You're the absolute worst, go play it on 360/PS3

I don't know whether the pulsing blue line, hearing something through the speaker, or how fast and responsive the remote play is was my watershed moment. The little sister absolutely loved the playroom.

Just realised I haven't tried the share feature yet, wheeeeeee.

I'm signed in to PSN, but have been all day so maybe it's just kept me on.

Can't get on to any of EA's stuff, though.

I guess now would be a good time to start Knack.

Not hard to understand. It's very likely with black Friday and eu launch you just double the number of ps4. Psn is world wide and eu launch clearly is causing issues.

Love to see numbers on eu launch...

Personally I like a two weapon limit because it's more realistic than carrying 10 different weapons. However, I have noticed that I have been able to carry 3 guns before, but I'm not sure what the requirements are. Maybe you can only carry three if you have the right type. I've done it before though.

EDIT: I just remembered that the game does force you to keep a particular weapon during different levels that you can't swap out, which is a little bit of a downer. I've wanted to switch out that pistol sometimes when it won't let me.

I still need to get Rain and some PS+ games on my PS3. It would be nice to play some Killzone or Resogun online to kill the time though :/

So i ordered my ps4 from amazon.fr

they should have shipped it yesterday but had some excuse why it left today.

Amazon.fr is saying i should receive it tuesday because i live in holland.

but if i check my track and trace code from post nl it says tomorrow because its leaving from amazon.com in amsterdam.

does amazon have some kind of warehouse in amsterdam which is why i will receive it tomorrow in stead of next week?

Because amazon.fr says next week

Not true. I play mostly offline and I get trophy notifications. I also get the little "ding" sound. It just doesn't sync with the online database when you aren't connected.

I think this is just terrible advice. Spending an extra $400/$500 to keep an extra box around just so you can "play where you want" seems like a massive waste of money. Specially since he doesn't seem so hot on one system already.

You're much better off using that money improving the rest of your A/V set up IMO. Get the second box down the line after a few price drops and a better library.

I don't know what's going on with me then because I just unlocked 6 trophies for Resogun and didn't get a single notification. My setting is on.

Sucks to hear about psn, but glad to see the euro brethren enjoying their ps4 otherwise. Once the launch craziness settles down all will be okay with psn.

Trophies themselves don't require PSN. As I said above, I play offline and I still get trophies.

EDIT: I see you just responded. Yeah, I'm not sure what the deal is. Maybe because your system is trying to connect, that it is messing with the notification system. I know it's difficult to get trophies, but I wonder if you just disabled the internet for now and played and got a trophy it would be fine. I can't say for sure because I've only played online with the PS4 for one night just to download the AC4 patch. Everything else I've done has been offline. (I did system update through USB).

of the 2 issues i mentioned i had earlier, i tried to recreate them using the same conditions as before and cant, guess i have to hope they were both one offs or user area or a bit of both

DS4 is so good, amazing buttons, d-pad, triggers and sticks. Now it's time for a weekend with a new console and a new Mario game, life is good.

Sony should definitely upgrade their servers after this. Especially if certain features are behind the PSN sign in, like the browser, Vita second screen play, etc.

Guys, I feel stupid. I'm ok with the PSN servers being all weird and stuff, but every time I try to login again I have to enter my email and password. This is super annoying. Once I even came in, but then was logged out, and still have to enter all this.

Pls. PS4 stahp.

No it doesn't. You won't get the 1080p patch but it will still play and it still looks good even without it. You will also get trophies, they just won't sync with the online database until you are able to connect again.

EDIT: Apparently someone said the patch will still download. If so, that's cool. But make sure to go to the notifications window and apply the patch when it is done. There is probably a setting to do it automatically but I think you have to do it manually with the default settings. (or maybe you always do? I'm not sure)

I definitely don't plan on keeping two consoles. I already have a Panasonic 50'' plasma (in a small apartment room), so no need to invest in any new A/V equipment. I can still return the Xbone to Amazon (or sell it, although I rather get all my money back without dealing with shipping costs and sellers fees). I'm already aware that hardware-wise the PS4 has it beat, but I'm still not 100% convinced by the UI and network infrastructure.

Having played around with the Xbone UI for the last week (which I think is rather clunky without using the voice controls), I may actually prefer the more simplified PS4 UI. I'm also not as interested in doing voice commands with the Kinect as I thought I would be (saying "Xbox" constantly kind of makes me feel lame, haha). Hope the PSN gets the kind of improvements I'm looking for.

Bought a playstation 4 without any disc based games. After being harassed for 10-15 minutes about inputting the wrong user name and password, I discover that PSN is down. This is a train wreck. I know that all the launch games suck, but why increase my suffering by messing up basic functionality like accessing the internet and downloading games? Sony WHY?!?

anyway got a question : how's Friends of Friends option working under "who can see my friends" "who can see your activities" , not really sure?
