Good to know. I don't think it installed automatically for me, but maybe I didn't reboot the game. I had to go and manually install it.

EDIT: For those new users, the way to check if it is patched is to press the option button when you have the game icon selected in the home screen, then go to (I believe) version. Can't remember what exactly it's called as I'm not near my system now but it's in the option menu of that game.

Bought a playstation 4 without any disc based games. After being harassed for 10-15 minutes about inputting the wrong user name and password, I discover that PSN is down. This is a train wreck. I know that all the launch games suck, but why increase my suffering by messing up basic functionality like accessing the internet and downloading games? Sony WHY?!?

Calm down it's launch, btw I bought Physical, and am glad I did. PSN went down for almost 24 hrs in North America.
But I had physical copy of Killzone and AC4.

Never Buy digital on new consoles. There's a reason more physical copies of Half Life 2 were sold, because steam blew in the beginning.

Question: You bought every game digital or just one of them?

Anybody know how long it takes to fully install Killzone?

It starts installing as soon as you put it in, and a small bar will appear on the icon in the home screen, and once that bar is maxed, which takes all of like 5-10 seconds, you can start playing it. It then continues installation when you play. Not sure how long it takes while playing though.

The ds4 is using some crazy voodoo. Normally I can't play FPS with a pad but Killzone feels so natural even with its zero aim assist. If only the light wasn't so bright. No need for that to suck up all my battery.

As I've said a few times before, you still get trophies while offline. Maybe there are specific games that require online for trophies, but for me while playing Killzone and AC4 I get trophies while offline.

Are you updated to version 1.51 for OS? You can do that through downloading to USB.

anyway got a question : how's Friends of Friends option working under "who can see my friends" "who can see your activities" , not really sure?

Basically you can view the friends list of another friend. Its not limited to your list Only so if i befriend you i can see your friends list. I can also send them invites as well. The activities shows up for them as well.

I actually haven't bought the games yet, but I want to go digital only with ps4 and even if I didn't all the local retailers selling video games are closed at this point. Well, lesson learned for future console launches I guess.

Yeah it was like 4 or 5 seconds for me, but disk kept spinning. My drive was a bit loud too, so dunno if that is normal. Once i went back to the XMB it stopped after about 2 minutes or so.

They've been working for me. You should still get trophies, they just don't sync with the online database. It's the same as the PS3.

Quick question about turning the system off. I have my PS4 in my bedroom, so I don't really want to use the standby mode as it's still quite noisy. Is there a way to make automatic updates and downloads work in a similar way to how they did on PS3? I liked how you could set that to turn itself on for an hour, do what it had to do, then switch itself back off.

All I can say is wait for the weekend, maybe buy one physical game to hold you over, and also look around for digital deals on amazon. Since now they do Digital PSN games.

Was it out in the cold for very long?

Try without harddrive, and hold eject and power button.

Wait some more if it was really cold when you turned it on for the first time. Wait for everything to be room temp. Then try to turn it on, or do the hard drive fix.

Just my 2 cents. Also try different HDMI, and check HDMI input for any pieces of metal that would be making contact. Kotaku had this issue.

I have no disk based games, so there is nothing i can do with the console till PSN is up.

Another thing that's annoying is that the PS4 doesn't seem to like my HDMI switch. I can only output 1080i when i connect throught it.

That's also something i hate, why try to be clever and and don't let me decide what output is used? If i want it to be automatic i would set it at that option. But no, the thing seems to think it knows more than me and only let me set it to something it thinks it works.
Stuff like that should always be possible, just put a 15 seconds test screen after a choice and you should be good, but no...

In that case, when you sign in for the first time I believe you can sync your account with the same one that's on your PS3. I haven't done it yet but I know others have.

Did you try selecting it in the sound and screen option in the settings menu? You can change resolution there, although if it only lists 1080i then you might be stuck.

The sound in Resogun is absolutely incredible! My Astro A40's have never sounded this good.

had the resogun flicker happen again, it seems to trigger when a retail game requires an update and after it finishes i boot that game up and then decide to switch to resogun. I did put in a SSHD, so i'm assuming a caching issue, but i'm not sure though.

as for the missing game data i think that was my fault as i cannot recreate that issue.

the resogun flicker btw seems to happen right inbetween the first game closing and resogun opening up (no spaceship in bottom right hand corner)

I had a weird issue, no sound through the box hdmi cable when connected to my switch. Connected to the tv straight, no video either. Fresh hdmi cable from ps3, everything works fine.

PSN is working. Initially I was really pissed off when I couldn't log in, but now it's working everything is great. SSD installation was piss easy, downloads were super fast (I think the PS3 used about 10% of my 120mb connection) and the friends/store etc are great. Playroom & Resogun are good, got to try Killzone, AC4, Flower & Contrast after dinner. Machine is beautiful and silent. Camera/mic are much better then expected. Not a fan of voice control but it works well.

Mainly though... DAT FUCKING PAD

Guys, a question - is anyone else getting really poor sound quality out of their PS4? My TV is really nothing special, but I'm POSITIVE the sound I get when playing my PS3 and 360 through the TV speakers is much better. The PS4 sound feels muffled and slightly distorted. Any ideas about what could be the problem? I'm using the HDMI cable provided with the PS4, but that can't be the problem can it?
