Even after yesterday's gaming marathon, it's still hard to believe the next generation is actually here, after all these years. Apart from the obvious graphical update, I've been impressed by the fastness of it all; start the install, and you're good to go in a matter of seconds; exit the game/app to UI and back, and the transfer is immediate without any sluggishness. No more waiting while starting and ending an application, and the UI itself is noticeably more responsive than the PS3's. It's a welcome change, as it was tiresome to move from game to Netflix, and from there to YouTube app, and wait and wait and wait between all the shifts. I actually often skipped checking something on YouTube while I was using Netflix, as I didn't want to wait while closing the app and opening another, and then do the same when returning to Netflix. It's somewhat surprising to be excited about secondary console features, but they really do add up to the experience.
There are still some things missing, like a screen saving mode and the option to group gaming content (which isn't a problem yet, with five games in the library), but I think they'll be added eventually via patches. Hopefully YouTube app will be added soon as well.
