Web browsing and services etc. are free, but online multiplayer requires PS+ now.

If you're used to the 360 you'll be used to no online without paying, but Sony don't lock anywhere near as much up in their service and the "fringe benefits" are amazing.
Half your reasons to buy a PS4 just evaporated. A PS Plus subscription is practically essential, both literally and figuratively when owning a Playstation, at this point.

What? He doesn't currently have online, so if he just wants a PS4 to play games he doesn't need PS+.

For multiplayer and stuff, you need PS+ (And depending on the game, even a season pass....)
You can brows the store, the browser, etc though with just your internet connection.
That's why I said half.
Some parts are, some parts aren't. The main part that isn't is multiplayer, that is unless it's a f2p game.
To play games like Fifa or BF or COD online you need to buy PS+. It's about $50 or £40 a year.
You do not need to pay this to use Netflix or other features of the PS4 unlike the Xbox 360 or the Xbone.
You do not need this if you only want to play F2P online games.
Having PS+ also gets you "free" games every month. These are called the Instant game Collection or IGC. Every month they swap games in and out. They offer games on PS3, PS4 and PS Vita every month, so the more of these devices you have the more benefit there is to PS+.
You also get discounts on some content on the Store.
Anything you get "free" is your all the time you have an active subscription. If you don't pay then you lose access until you pay again.
Anything you buy with a PS+ discount is yours forever.

You can't play multiplayer without it but thats it. You can still download DLC, browse the store/buy from the store, and watch netflix/prime/hulu no problems.

Knack is surprisingly good. I hadn't considered it because it just looked bland, but the recent polarised opinions made me curious enough to buy it.
It is literally just moving forward through the world and battling enemies. But it really doesn't get dull, because you are constantly coming up against new enemy types in different combinations. Combined with the size change thing - which is entirely artificial (you are basically as big as the level needs you to be) but still feels good when you're big and squashing previously dangerous enemies. But even then a few bad hits can kill you.
Up to the start of chapter 5 so far, don't know how much more of the story is left but looking forward to the rest of it.

I'm pretty sure that's just the Uplay passport. It gives you some bonus content, but I don't think online play is locked behind it. I haven't tried playing online with my friends copy though.

This was my impression as well. Sure the buttons don't ever get different movesets but heck, I thoroughly enjoy Knack for what it is. Reminds me of playing a Pixar movie.
Yup, mine has never turned itself off. My console has never turned itself off either. Very irritating.
I hope Sony can get a firmware update soon to sort all these minor issues. It's been awhile now since 1.51

If the games are Free 2 Play (e.g. Blacklight Retribution, DC Universe Online, War Thunder, Warframe, etc) then yes, online is free.
For retail games, no, online is not free, you need PlayStation Plus. It is worth it though, mainly for the 5 or 6 "free" games you get each month across PS3/PS4/Vita.

Why some PSN Friends cant see my shared videos and Screenshots in "Whats New" at XMB??
One of them said I had to set my sharing privacy to Public, and have them in my Facebook. Is it real??
I just added my Facebook account for being able to share my videos and screenshots (and they force you to do that via Facebook or Twitter, what is ridiculous). But those who I would like to have full access to my sharing SSs and Videos are the one's that have PS4 and are my PSN friends... this is kind obvious.
I dont want to add everyone that I have in my PSN in Facebook. And I dont want to share all my videos and SSs in Facebook! Are two different types of community's, and I dont want to mix them!!
If its true that I have to open it for public share in my facebook and add all my PSN friends, just to let them see my stuff about PS4 in PS4... then this is a HUGE let down for me in this aspect!! Please, someone tell me that is not like that! =/
They need to upgrade the options about sharing. They should let you transfer your recorded data to a external hard drive and upload it wherever you want, and they should not force you to use facebook or twitter for even record something. I really cant understand why is that... =/

Not quite true, you can edit it and it saves the edit as a new clip; you can then back out of everything without uploading and if you go to your captures in your profile you'll have both the original version and the edited clip without uploading anything.
The option to edit just for fun absolutely does need to be right there in captures management, not buried away right before uploading though.

The crazy shit happens in multiplayer for me, so its a little silly making you take vital time editing it because you can't just upload it and edit it when you're ready

They need to create new menu options to share function. Like the option to trim / edit the video without the need to select the option to upload it first. Also... I think its kind of stupid for the share function to take an screenshot everytime you access the menu.

Ah, do I need to link to facebook to get access to the edit function then? At the moment they're just saved on the hard drive, not uploaded.
TBH I'm not sure - It is stupid you have to go all the way through to the stage right before upload to edit them. I do have Facebook linked so I've not tried it without.
If people didn't know - and I didn't, a work buddy told me - you can get to your captures from your profile, it's the folder icon under your avatar next to trophies and something else IIRC. You can go in there and hit share to upload when you're in there - you can also hit options and delete from there too.
I tend to edit what I want down, back out without uploading and delete the unedited footage. You have to be real careful though, the filenames are stupid - double check you;re deleting the right thing from looking at the clip length and filesize.
